I was so excited to get the ARC for this book. One that I had seen rave reviews for all over tiktok. Unfortunately the story didn’t quite live up to the hype. The idea of following a strong, black, anti-hero, who winds up being roped into a quest to save the day is a fun one, I just didn’t know if I was supposed to read it as a satire or not. The medieval vibes with modern duologue and slang didn’t fit as nicely as I had hoped. I cringed at the literal Hamilton lyrics quote.
I found so much of the sincere moments were cut by random jokes or the FMC almost breaking the 4th wall with breaking down Fantasy or romance novels and comparing her quest to them. I wanted to take it as tongue in cheek, but it happened so often that it wasn’t silly. It was annoying.
I really loved the realistic moments, like a mom calling her kids by the wrong names, the changing of minds about captivity and slavery… But the pacing inconsistencies took away from the potency of the statements. While I liked the sentiments of having the heavy topics present, they seemed so out of place in this rom-com fantasy
The world building was barely there and what was there was so slap-dash that much of it was sidelined bad dialogue and rushed plot.
The open door spice scenes were meh. I just didn’t enjoy the two main characters because they were inconsistent. Things were cheesy and surface level.
I wanted to like this. But I just didn’t.
Thank you NetGalley and Orbit Books for an Advanced eRrader Copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

That time i got drunk and requested this arc...just kidding.
Unfortunately this book was not it for me. While I thank NetGalley and the publisher for giving this to me I cannot say I would recommend it.
The banter back and forth was way to modern for the setting. It honestly got very annoying. It felt too much like a 7th grader writing fanfiction. And don't get me started on the character names or the love of cheese. The cringe factor was high on this book.

If you are in the mood for something that is cozy and a little spicy this is the book for you. I enjoyed my time when reading this book but some of the language in this book felt very modern for such a not modern setting. I enjoyed the characters and thought that their motivations were done well for this kind of story. The wording of some of the spicy scenes was a little cringey for me. This is the kind of book that I may continue with the series, but I am not rushing to pick up the next one.

Witty, funny, charming. I absolutely loved this book and everything about it. I absolutely loved Fallon and his dynamic with Cin.

It took a Hot minute to get invested due to the VERY modern language coming out of the medieval heroine with pink hair’s mouth. That was a little jarring but entertaining once I suspended my disbelief: very Overall super fun D&D Vibes and a short pallet cleanser.

What a fun and cozy fantasy. I loved Cinnamon and Fallon. Their love story was hilarious and sweet. What an absolute ride this book was. The stakes were not too high, just what a cozy fantasy needs. Just utterly delightful.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publisher for this advance reader's copy of the book. This was fun and fast. I honestly didn't know what to expect as I didn't read any summaries, I just thought the title was fun. And this book is fun. I loved it. I loved the story. I loved the characters. I truly can't wait to read the next books. I will be recommending this to everyone.

Thank you to NetGalley and Orbit for the ARC in exchange for an honest review
I would recommend if you're looking for (SPOILERS)
-m/f fantasy romance
-fated mates
-monster romance
-he falls first and hard
-road trip
This was exactly what I needed. The bonkers road trip with a demon, a dash of magic and steam. So excited to read the next two books.

This book was such a mood. You've got a sassy modern woman named Cinnamon (yes, the names are ridiculous, and it is fourth wall addressed within the first chapter), and a sexy demon named Fallon setting off on an adventure to save demon-kind. What I was surprised to find was PLOT! You go into some books knowing full well that plot will be willfully sacrificed on the altar of smut, but this book balanced both plot and smut beautifully.
You've got a dirty-talk loving, dominant, tall handsome demon man, and a lovingly relatable FMC whose role you can mentally slide right in to. AND you meet a few more characters who will be coming back in future books, which I fully intend to read.
This book was a whole lot of lighthearted fun and adventure in a short read format...somewhere around 200 pages or so. If you're looking for a good easy read, give this book a shot.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC which did not affect my review of this book.

I had never read this author before, but the title and cover of this book sold me and I’m thankful to have been given a copy from the publisher and NetGalley! This book was So. Much. Fun. That’s really the best way I can describe it! I want it to be made into a tv series because it was such a blast. The characters are amazing, the banter is actually funny, the magic and fantasy aspect of it was awesome. Overall, this book really was one of my favorite, quick reads recently!

Such a great read! I loved everything from the story to the characters. I especially enjoyed the plus size representation in this book. It is so refreshing to find characters like me who are not solely focused on their size and are indeed bad ass female main characters. After seeing this all over BookTok I am so glad I finally read it. Highly recommend!

This book was cute, sexy and hilarious!! I was giggling and cackling out loud 😂 This is no literary masterpiece but it’s a great fun read.

☑️Her best friend’s name is Bri and GUESS WHAT?! She makes cheese..I know cheesy right 😂😂

Spice Rating

Overall, a nice comfort book with spice! I will definitely continue the series and look out for other works by this author in the future!

This was fun! It's got a huge voice, a great sense of humour, and a very well-thought out adventure. It leans fully into the silly and ridiculous and while I love that, I'm just glad it wasn't longer.

That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon ended up being some of the most fun I've had reading a book in a while. It's a really enjoyably paced story that I read mostly in a sitting. I'd recommend it to any readers who are looking for something that's big on the good times and laughs with a healthy dose of romance. Cinnamon is a great character and I love how her journey played out. Overall, the character interactions were stellar and had me laughing quite a few times. It was a satisfying book to read!

This was such a fun read. I enjoyed the relationship development between Cinnamon and Fallon so much.
The way the Author developed this story felt natural and fun - I’ll definitely be picking up the next one!

It was an interesting take on a fantasy novel. Not something I’m necessarily used to but was a unique change of speed from reading such serious/emotional stories. The romance was rushed a bit, but it’s a novella what do you expect. It was a fun read!

This was such a fun read!! It was fast paced and action packed from start to finish. And I legitimately laughed out loud at so many parts.
Cinnamon is a fantastic FMC. She’s smart, brave, sarcastic and doesn’t spend time dwelling on what she has no control over. The matter-of-fact banter with Fallon was great and I loved that she was never apologetic about who she is and what she stands for. I also want to have mead with her and go off the rails a bit - we would have so much fun!
For being a terrifying demon, Fallon was just a big, ol’ cinnamon roll MMC. But don’t be fooled, there’s also plenty of “good girl” and “you’re mine” moments to swoon over.
Even before they set sail, this one gave me Pirates of the Caribbean vibes with the quick quips and motley crew of side characters.
Favourite part/quote:
“Why is the bed covered in cheese?”
“You don’t remember?” Fallon put his arms behind his head and settled back down. “Last night, you demanded we bring you cheese and then stated that you were the cheese queen.” I blinked. “There’s no way I did that.” “Really?” he asked with a smirk. “Because I fully remember you tasking several orcs to bring you cheese. Then you sat in the captain’s chair, and the words ‘I am the cheese queen’ definitely came out of your mouth.”
Thank you to NetGalley, Orbit Books and Kimberly Lemming for an advance copy. These are my honest thoughts.

I received this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book is for people in a very particular mood, if you aren’t prepared for it I can see how you wouldn’t like it.
This is very modern wording in a world that is clearly not, and that can be a bit of a jump scare, especially in the beginning. However I found that this gave it a comedic, not so serious tone that was very pleasant to read!
For fans of Assistant to the Villains, this gave what that should have. If you are also looking for some tension and smut both are excellent done in this novel. I’m looking forward to seeing where the novel goes next!
In this book you will find: fated mates, insta love, diverse characters, sassy MFC, touch her and die, smut, banter, modern slang, and lots of action.

I can’t even begin to describe how much fun this book was to read!
A sassy main character? Check.
Powerful and scary, yet lovable and silly demons? Check.
Hilariously unserious narration? Check.
Epic adventure? Check.
Incredibly spicy scenes that you may or may not be embarrassed to admit you read? Check.
In a world where humans live in fear of demons, one girl discovers the key to unleashing them from the chains of a false god and restoring harmony. Reluctantly, she embarks on an epic quest, with a very grumpy demon at her side, to destroy the false god, finding new friends and a spicy romance along the way.
This adorable, fast-paced, enemies to lovers, cozy romantasy story delivers exactly what it promises. It is adventurous, sometimes heartwarming, and always entertaining without ever taking itself too seriously. The characters are funny and lovable and the world building is simplistic but well thought out.
I enjoyed this book a lot and I cannot wait to read the rest of the series. Overall, I give this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars.
*Infinite thanks to Netgalley, Orbit Books, and Kimberly Lemming for providing me with the e-book version of this book for review.*

I loved this book so much. This was my second time reading it and while I remember loving it, I forgot just how much I loved it.
It was laugh out loud funny with a sarcastic FMC who is forced to go on a quest to defeat an evil goddess by a smoking hot demon who taunts and teases her constantly. Their banter was everything!
Not only do I love Cinnamon and Fallon for being couple goals, I love their found family. A motley crew of freed demon slaves and Una the fierce human captain with a pet hyena. I absolutely love Felix and I’m so glad he got his own story in That Time I Got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a Werewolf. Now I’m just hoping for Ambrose and Una’s story.
I seriously cannot recommend this series enough. It is absolutely amazing!
