I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.

This is a rhyming story about a monster named Albie who basically hulks out and causes massive devastation through different kinds of storms and natural disasters like tornados and earthquakes. When he sees the problems he's caused with his anger, he tries to focus on small things to help himself calm down and he also pitches in to help clean up the mess he made when he was angry.

I liked how this book basically took the typical toddler tantrum and amplified it in Albie. While it's not realistic, as a parent of young children, it can certainly feel like your child is a force of nature, especially when things aren't going their way. It's also nice that it shows ways to try to manage those big feelings. The illustrations were very bold and colorful.

Overall I give The Angriest Monster on Mill Street 3.9487 out of 5 stars.

I have read all three books in this series now and they are all really good.

As a parent I like that they allow you to discuss topics with children in a subtle way and also that you can use them as prompts to discuss thoughts and feelings. The book also teaches as you read it which is a great touch as it discusses emotions and how to manage them.

The illustrations in the series are great and they all work well with the topics.
Each book has a different feeling discussed too and they are great social-emotional learning tools.

It is 5 stars from me for this one - very highly recommended!

The Angriest Monster on Mill Street by Sarah Sparks, illustrated by Sypha Vendez, is a delightful book about a temperamental monster whose intense emotions trigger a series of dramatic events, including earthquakes, tornadoes, and flooding. As a parent of a six-year-old, this story resonates deeply with me. It mirrors the challenges we're facing in helping my child navigate and understand her strong emotions. The book provides a valuable perspective on distinguishing and managing feelings, making it a helpful and engaging read for families dealing with similar emotional journeys.

This is a great book for all children - to teach them that when they get angry to stop and look for the beauty in the world, to take a moment to focus on the beauty around them to feel better, to teach them to clean up the messes they make, and to teach them that there are (and they can be!) supportive friends around to help.

This is the second monster book I have read by this author. This one is about Albie and his anger issues. He gets so angry he grows and causes havoc through his town. This is a good lead in book to talk to children about how to handle their anger in safe and calming ways. The illustrations are very nice and fun.

Albie is the angriest monster but she is the most adorable one too.

The illustrations here are so vibrant and colorful that it was a joy reading them and treat to the eyes too.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading it with my kid.

Thank you Netgalley and ViaNova for the wonderful ARC in exchange of an honest review.

"The angriest monster on Mill Street" is a lighthearted picture book about dealing with fits of anger. The story is quite simple for young kids to understand: the blue monster has a short temper and gets angry often. One day, he gets so angry that he turns into a huge monster and creates storms, earthquakes and tornadoes that destroy his town. He realizes that he's hurting his friends, means to calm down and becomes himself again. Then helps top clean up the mess that he made.

I found the message in the book to be very appropriate. Kids often get angry and may destroy things. Here, we learn that if one breaks things, one should help fix them. I also the tips on calming down (focusing on things we can perceive) to be very age appropriate and practical, which is often not the case in other books about dealing with emotions.

Another gem my 3 y/o grandson absolutely adored. And I loved how Sparks intertwined the 5 senses into the story.

Thanks to NetGalley and ViaNova Productions for this complimentary copy!

I've discovered that I truly appreciate this writer and the way they craft their children's books. I'm fond of the lessons on social-emotional learning (SEL) and the small group sessions at school. These will be ideal for our use.

What a cute book! I love any story that teaches self regulation in an age appropriate way.

I loved the illustrations paired with short, rhyming lines of text. The use of proper vocabulary (temper, cope) is an excellent way to grow a child's vocabulary and give them the words they can use to talk about their feelings. Coping strategies were used, as well as showing taking accountability. This would be a great story for teachers and parents to use to talk to kids about feelings.

The one thing I did not like was the font. It feels very juvenile and unprofessional, and would make me think twice about buying a copy.

This book is such a beautiful explanation for children when it comes to handling their emotions.

I loved how this story, showed depictions of what big emotions can feel like in a little body and gave us a visual of what that means to others that are around Albie. It gave a beautiful illustration with step-by-step tools, that Albie used to self-regulate his emotions.

I would def keep a copy of this book and recommend it to anyone with little people that need a little bit of relatable education on emotions.

This book is well done.

I volunteered to read a copy of this ARC through NetGalley.

I love this series to help my 4 year old learn about emotions. Albie is a big scary monster when he gets mad but he learns different ways to help keep his anger at bay throughout the book. Great lesson for kids but the monster did scare my son a tiny bit.
