This is a graphic novel that I really wanted to like, but just couldn't. The cover really grabbed my attention, and I loved the artwork. I found the actual graphic novel to not be nearly as eye-caching for the most part. I love the way Ichabod looks but most of the human characters have an uncanny look that I couldn't get past. The story and dialog really took me out of the experience as I found it bit awkward but I'm not sure if that was intentional.
It is very possible this just is not for me. That is the main reason I am giving this three stars. All my issues, I feel, are of a personal nature. If I found no redeeming qualities or failed to see how anyone would enjoy this then you could expect a one- or two-star review, but I genuinely think others will enjoy this more than I did, I feel with visual novels, the liking or disliking the artwork tends to be more subjective. I certainly can understand someone else may really enjoy this novel, but it ultimately was not for me.
My first thought when I finished this graphic was : where's tome 2???
The drawings were super cool, I loved the characters and the pumpkin head is funny. We follow the story of Ellie, a girl with powers. She'll meet Ichabog and they're gonna be partners to paranormal affairs
It was funny, easy to read and very immersive
This was so fun. The perfect mix of paranormal, monsters and ghosts, mystery, and a cliffhanger at the end! Paranormal investigation at its finest. The art style was so fun and I really enjoyed the characters. There are so many questions I need answers to, but it was a great setup for a series.
I need more of Ellie and Ichabod’s adventures immediately. Can’t wait for the next volume!
This was a really cute read. I like the idea of it—it gave me Ghostbusters-meets-Scooby-Doo-meets-Lockwood-&-Co. vibes and I really enjoyed that. I would have liked to see more of the training, though. It felt like there was a lot of background and humor that could have been provided there but wasn't, and I felt like I was missing out. That being said, I enjoyed the story and would definitely read the second one to find out what the deal is with the demon and that mark.
Ellie looses her job and desperately needs money to make rent. Fortunately for her she stumbles across a… well, a pumpkin-headed crime fighter fighting for his life. The event unleashed Ellie’s own powers and the two soon team up to investigate the supernatural together.
I loved the premise of this story, but I found it underwhelming. The episodes put together didn’t flow well and were underdeveloped. Several times I scrolled back to see if I had missed a page. Just when I thought the story might finally be going somewhere it abruptly ended.
This was SUPER interesting to me. I didn't know if I'd like it at first but I quickly read through it cause it felt unique and familiar at the same time.
I love this Webtoon and am so excited to see it getting published. It is a fun paranormal mystery that I cannot wait for the next chapter. It's an interesting and unique story that I'm still trying to unravel.
I am a huge fan of WebToon Comics (especially Lore Olympus), but didn’t know this gem existed. It follows a girl named Ellie who is unaware of her psychic ability who is down on her luck when it comes to jobs (we’ve all been there), and happens to fall into a position with a Pumpkin Headed investigator named Ichabod who helps people who have issues with the paranormal. I enjoyed the dynamic between Ellie and Ichabod, the graphics were visually appealing, and the stories that go on throughout were entertaining with an overarching story that left you hanging on at the end.
I am really excited to see how this series progresses. The concept is really fascinating and I'm eager to learn more about what is happening in this world and what the leads are capable of. Who doesn't love a paranormal detective agency?
Like Veronica Mars goes to Halloweentown.
WebToon has been releasing some of their toons in book form and I am obsessed. Have you read Everything is Fine? If not, what are you waiting for? Run! Go out and buy it! So… anyway… I’ll read everything that they release.
This one automatically caught my attention when I saw the cover. It screamed Sleepy Hollow at me and I couldn’t look away. Who wouldn’t want to read a book with a pumpkin headed main character?
The story was interesting and very unique. It was so easy to follow and the scenes that unfolded held my interest enough to where I forgot that I was also watching the baseball game. That tells you how weird this was. Very enjoyable and I can’t wait until the next installment.
I really enjoyed this graphic novel. I loved the art style and the story line. It kept me wanting to keep reading to see where the story was going.
Ce premier tome nous apporte beaucoup d'informations qui promettent de belles choses pour la suite ! J'avais vraiment l'impression de suivre une série en m'attachant aux personnages, en voulant aller faire ces missions avec eux... Hâte de lire la suite !
Down on her luck and out of a job, Ellie accidentally stumbles upon a guy with a literal pumpkin for a head fighting against a monster and the next thing she knows she's gotten a job working for the Paranormal Detective Agency. Ellie is in debt, just let go of from her job, and on the verge of eviction, yet when she walks into a fight between a guy with a pumpkin for a head and a beast, she helps out, and accidentally summons her own psychic powers, which she never knew she had. The next thing she knows she is being recruited and given a job as partner to Ichabod, the Pumpkin-headed boss of the Paranormal Detective Agency. Now her entire life is turned upside down as she enters into a world of monsters, magic, and more, but hey at least she can make rent right? This was a fun comic and the perfect addition to your autumn tbr. The first volume ends on a cliffhanger but it'll definitely have you looking forward to what's next for Ellie and Ichabod as they fight monsters and solve cases!

Story: I was really excited for this one. I expected a cool story and adventure with magic and Halloween pumpkin head vibes. Instead we got a huge mishmash of stale plot devices stolen from popular culture.
Our mc is living in an apartment where rent is overdue and she doesn't have the money to pay for it. Then she discovers she suddenly has powers and needs to learn to controll them! So Peter Parker- oh wait, sorry- Ellie goes on an adventure to learn how to use them without giving a single thought as to why she has them.
When the mc gets laid off at work, her boss invites her to take something from the thrift store to keep on her way out. It cuts to her at lunch with a friend showing the small cactus in a Sombrero she picked. She claims she should have taken the cash register instead. Sound familiar? It's stolen from New Girl.
When Jess is fired, the principal puts on a Sombrero and tells her she can pick something from lost and found to keep. It then cuts to her sitting with cici saying she should have picked the slap bracelet.
The whole story is just scenes where you can pinpoint their inspiration (or blatant rip off) of specific movies. On top of it, the mc is so annoying and bland and just accepts everything happening to her with no hesitation or questioning. The plot is all over the place and I didn't care about a single second of it.
Before this review really takes off into rant territory, I'm going to end by asking why the headless horseman pumpkin guy is named Ichabod??? Ichabod was a regular person, the headless horseman doesn't have a name. Not to have my "it's Frankenstien's monster not Frankenstien" moment but come. On.
Art: flat, a few solid colors with little detail. I don't know how to describe it, but it looks too clean. No personality, no heart, no originality.
