a slow moving thriller with an interesting premise, and in the first half i was getting a little worried thinking okay where is this going…
but the twists were INCREDIBLE. very well executed and kept the momentum going until the last 10% or so, but by then i was still very satisfied with the book overall
it’s suspenseful, keeps you guessing, and pulls off a truly mind-boggling twist. i’ll definitely be reading more from Mary Kubica!

Twisty and surprising! So convincing that you find yourself looking over your own shoulder every where you go! Movies rely on soundtracks to set the freaky tone, Mary Kubica finds a way to do the same with just her words! Such a talent!!

I read a few of Mary Kubica's books and to be honest they are hit or miss for me. Don't get me wrong, she's an excellent author and I've finished all the her books I picked up, but some just didn't hit the mark for me. She's Not Sorry, I went in with high expectations after reading the synopsis. Maybe that was the problem. The story started out slow, it kept my interest that I was intrigued, but nothing was pulling me in. As always I'm glad I didn't DNF a Mary Kubica book because the story really started to get going about 65% in. It was a twist, I really did not see coming. That's what makes reading Ms. Kubica's books worth the slow start.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher.

🏨Book Review:
Title: She's Not Sorry
Author: Mary Kubica
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/4 stars
Meghan Michaels is a single mom, working as a full-time nurse. Coming off of a recent divorce, she is trying to balance raising her teenage daughter, Sienna, and managing grueling full-time shifts in the ICU. Patient Caitlin is admitted with a traumatic brain injury, resulting in her being in a coma. Apparently, Caitlin fell from a bridge overpass, and as hard as Meghan tries not to get too involved, ultimately, she does. Was it suicide or did someone push her? Something just feels very off with Caitlin's parents. It seems like multiple things are happening in Meghan's life, which caused me to feel some major anxiety when reading.
Kubica is probably in my top ten favorite authors, especially in the thriller genre. She's great at creating suspense and twists in her books. This one will be hard to forget!

Thank you, @netgalley and @parkrowbooks, for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I've read Kubica before and although She's Not Sorry isn't my favorite of hers, I think it was still a fast-paced and captivating read. There's a lot going on in the book, but I think the pacing worked well. I definitely never got bored reading about Meghan's life. Some of the twists were really obvious and I guessed from the beginning, but a few reveals did end up surprising me. The ending was good and I think left just enough for the reader to draw their own conclusions. Four stars and I'm looking forward to reading future books from the author.

While the plot twists in this book were quite predictable, it didn't necessarily detract from the overall experience. Sometimes predictability can be comforting, but I found myself hoping for a few surprises to keep me on the edge of my seat. Despite this, the book had its engaging moments and was well-written. It may not stand out as remarkable in the genre, but it still offers an enjoyable read for those who appreciate familiar tropes and steady pacing.

Another great thriller by Mary Kubica! This one kept me turning pages so fast with all of the twists. I loved the nursing career for the main character and I thought the ending was WILD.
I did have some issues with the pacing and timeline, but overall it was a great read. I’ve loved so many of her books and this one didn’t disappoint.

3.5 stars rounded up. I feel like this had a lot of potential- not that I didn’t enjoy it. But there was a lot going on and sometimes I wasn’t sure what our main focus was supposed to be on. Some twists did catch me a bit by surprise while others felt so incredibly obvious. Ultimately I decided on 3.5 stars. An enjoyable, but sometimes chaotic read.

3.5 stars for me. Not my favorite Kubica book, but I did not see the ending coming with all the twists. I will forever continue to read her books whenever she puts anything out.

Coincidence or deception?
This is a mystery with many layers that continue to unravel as the story progresses. I couldn't put the book down!

I originally got this book from NetGalley, but I honestly never finished it because life got very busy. I felt bad about it, and got my hands on a copy to read, and I am sooo happy I did! So here’s my belated thank you to NetGalley, the Publisher, and Mary Kubica!
This thriller is about Meghan and single mom and icu nurse who is taking care of a patient named Caitlin. Caitlin survived jumping from a pedestrian bridge, but is now in a coma. Between Caitlin’s odd family, an old friend struggling to leave an abusive marriage, and a series of murders in Meghan’s neighborhood it is hard for Meghan to feel safe, and protect her daughter.
This was an incredible thriller. It was so suspenseful, and so well weaved together with a main plot and subplot that are both very interesting. I was hooked and finished this in a day! The ending also leaves you with just a few loose ends but in a good way that leaves you thinking about whether or not you should still be suspicious!
My jaw dropped when I realized what was happening, the story was written in a way that tricked me so I really wasn’t expecting the twist until Kubica wanted me to know.
My only complaint is that the prologue/preview really wasn’t necessary, and I mean that in a complimentary way. Kubica does such a good job building the anxiety and tension in the story that without it I would have probably appreciated that chapter more when it was within the plot.

In She’s Not Sorry, Mary Kubica crafts a gripping psychological thriller centered around Meghan Michaels, a single mother and dedicated ICU nurse, whose world is upended when a young woman named Caitlin arrives at the hospital with a traumatic brain injury. Initially believed to be a suicide attempt, Caitlin’s fall from a bridge soon raises suspicions when new evidence suggests foul play. As Meghan becomes emotionally invested in Caitlin’s case, she finds herself drawn deeper into a web of secrets and danger—one that threatens not only her own life but also that of her daughter.
This book delivers exactly what you’d expect from a Kubica thriller—fast pacing, sharp twists, and an engrossing mystery that keeps you flipping pages. Meghan’s perspective adds a relatable, human element to the tension, making the stakes feel even higher. While some twists were more predictable than others, the steady build-up and unsettling atmosphere kept me engaged throughout. The ending was satisfying, though a bit rushed, but overall, She’s Not Sorry is an addictive read that delivers suspense, emotion, and just the right amount of paranoia.

She's Not Sorry is a dark, unsettling thriller with twists that’ll leave you reeling. Kubica’s tight, suspenseful writing creates a gripping atmosphere that’s hard to forget.

The twist in this book was nothing like I expected at all! And then it kept getting twistier and twistier. Great read from Kubica!

Mary Kubica does it again as a leader in the area of mystery and suspense. Her characters are depicted with detail and emotion. This is yet another great work by Mary Kubica!

Thanks NetGalley for this ARC by one of my favorite authors. This one was just an ok read for me. 3 stars. I liked it but didn’t love it. I’ll keep trying Mary Kubica but this one missed the mark.

I couldn't turn the pages fast enough! Mary Kubica writes great thrillers, and this one was no exception.

I did not see the twist coming in this one! I love Mary Kubica’s style of writing. She keeps you guessing until the end. I would recommend this to any thriller lover!

Traveling With T’s Thoughts:
I’ve pretty much read every book by Mary Kubica and still remember my reaction to the ending of The Good Girl (loved it!)
Honestly? Some books of Mary’s are great hits and some are semi-misses. This one straddled the line for me. Stop reading now if you don’t want to be spoiled……..
The first half or a little more was slow. Dragging. My mom’s a nurse and I used to work in a hospital so I know about HIPAA, etc. And while the attacker of the women in the Chicago area was definitely supposed to heighten suspense- it did, but it also left me questioning our main character and her ways ( the lock on the door, for example)
When things got good, they got good; but I still wasn’t excited that it took so long to get going.
Random thoughts (spoilers ahead)
There were bits and pieces of the story that never really got fleshed out or resolved and that was a disappointment.
Like did Ben know that Caitlin was pretending to be someone Meghan knew?
And the 10,000 bucks? Did Caitlin set this up for Ben? Did both of them set it up? There had been a mention of the divorce and Meghan inheriting some money and Ben not being happy about it because it happened as the divorce was already in progress.
The rapist angle- well, it just felt kinda left field.
Bottom line: This book had some good stuff and even though there were some plot holes/gaps & draggy places, I felt like when the action started, it got good. 3 star read for me.
