Unfortunately this was a miss for me. I struggled to stay connected with the characters and trying to keep track of everyone's stories was just a tad too much.
I may revisit again at another time.

Books about women set in Ireland and written by an Irish author have appealed to me since I first read Maeve Binchy, about 30 years ago. I like to call them “comfort reads”. A little bit fluffy, but with substance. This one fits the criteria.

Lou and Toni are two middle-aged sisters whose lives are blown apart all in one night……for separate reasons. They take off, to sort out themselves and their situations. We, the readers, follow along in their journey.

It turns out to be a journey of discovery and re-evaluation for the two sisters. We get to experience some of the sights and ambience of Sicily with Lou and Toni. I love the bond and support between the sisters. And, yet, they still manage to argue. Each sister reset their priorities.

The story is about family, respect, love, sisterhood, understanding and self-awareness. Everything falls into place.

This is a very satisfying read.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the Advance Readers Copy.

I really enjoyed Sisterhood. Lou is a relatable character who constantly helps people but no one helps Lou. On her 50th birthday Lou is disappointed in her friends and husband as their gifts are subpar or lacking completely.
She also receives some shocking news at the party that causes her to question her whole being. Together with her sister they set off on a trek to unveil some self truths and find her true self.
