I enjoyed this book a lot right up until the very end. I loved the tension throughout, I loved the banter. I enjoyed the actual relationship development. I loved the inclusion of different media publications to add color or interest to the book. I did not however enjoy the end/handling of the third act break up. I felt it was really rushed and just… really could have been better developed so it was more high stakes/more dramatic. I felt very icy like… well we have to break up and … yeah. Overall this was very enjoyable and I would still recommend.

Book Review:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Emmy Harper has grown up in the public’s eye. Being the daughter of entertainment royalty, she has worn many different hats. However, she found the most success and happiness behind the scenes as a screenwriter. When her current project is unable to cast a leading lady, she decides to take a leap of faith and step back into the spotlight.
Falon Ballard has won me over with the miscommunication trope in her latest novel, Right on Cue!!!
Emmy Harper and Grayson West had undeniable chemistry. Watching their journey from enemies to lovers made for a fun read. I was hooked from the very beginning. Hello first kiss debacle! As a reader, you can’t help but root for them to end up together.
An added bonus to this novel was the epistolary element. I loved how Ballard incorporated magazine articles, social media posts, comments, etc. Not only did this provide much needed background information, but it brought the entertainment industry to life.
Special thanks to Netgalley, Penguin Group Putnam, and Falon Ballard for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

I love Ballard's books so far. Ballard's writing style is fluid and easy to follow, making it a quick and enjoyable read. However, the pacing in Right on Cue occasionally feels rushed, leaving some scenes lacking the depth they deserve. Additionally, while the dialogue is mostly natural, there are moments where it feels forced or unrealistic. Despite these drawbacks, Ballard's novel still manages to deliver an entertaining experience overall. Grayson and Emmy are very swoony, I love them.

I am a huge fan of Falon Ballard's other titles so of course I was equally as excited to pick this one up. Nepo baby writing and filming a rom com and falling in love with her costar? How could it go wrong? Well, disastrous miscommunication is how. And unfortunately I zone out the moment the miscommunication trop come in, because in real life its a huge turn off and so that translates into the books I read as well. However, I once again enjoyed Falon's story telling and relationship building.

I enjoyed this one! The plot was unique and interesting. The characters were witty, fun, and realistic. The romance moved at a very fast clip as to be unbelievable though. That was my only issue with the book. The setting was fun and the ending was absolutely lovely!

Many thanks to Netgalley for the e-arc!
Omg I loved this book! I requested Ballard's sophomore book and loved it so when I saw this book, I knew I had to request it right away! I don't know what to say except I loved it. The perfect romance balances tropes and realistic character dynamics. Loved this!

I'm obsessed with this book. Such an easy read, and already a classic romcom I would recommend highly.
Emmy and Grayson had a run-in in Hollywood early on in their careers, and the fall out was massive. Now, they find themselves unexpectedly starring opposite one another in a romantic comedy film, and let's just say they are not pleased. These two idiots take enemies to a new level. Even when they need to put the past behind them and more forward, they found a way to prolong their enemy status!! I found myself yelling at them to please communicate and be the romantic leads I know they can be!
This book was written for you if:
1) You like a book set on a film set
2) You love a hallmark small town film
3) You love when rivals/enemies find a way to put their differences all the way aside

DNFed at 30% - I found this novel to be weak compared to Fallon Ballard’s other books, which I adored. I feel that the premise is weak, and I found the protagonist and the love interest annoying instead of charming. Our main character can only exclaim “Grayson fucking West” so many times before the reader gives up in exasperation. Enemies-to-lovers is famously harder to pull off than other tropes, and I just don’t think this succeeds. I will continue to look out for new books from Ballard because her other books have proven that she is a talent in the genre - but this one is a no for me

I unfortunately struggled to connect with the main characters. I loved the premise and idea behind the book though!

This was a quick, light read. It was VERY spicy. It was well-written and I enjoyed the “behind the scenes” movie-making aspect of it. Grayson was a wonderful Golden Retriever cinnamon roll book boyfriend, and Emmy’s angst was understandable without being too annoying. There was a lot of miscommunication, as per usual for a romance. It is a good one for romance lovers!
Thank you to the publisher - I received a complimentary eARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I’m convinced that Falon Ballard can do no wrong. I’ve loved all of her books so far and this one was no different. Emily and Greyson were so cute and made the perfect rom com set behind the scenes of a movie.

Right on Cue is a cute and spicy read for rom-com fans. I enjoyed the characters and loved the premise— a romance author ends up starring in the film adaptation of her own book and her romantic counterpart co-star is a guy who wronged her as a teen. As you can imagine, there’s lots of tension between these two… about a decade’s worth! I enjoyed watching the relationship between Grayson and Emmy transform from one stage to the next. Though this book does feature some miscommunication, I don’t think it’s as frustrating as usual.
This is my first Falon Ballard book and I really enjoyed it! I’m excited to dive into her backlist.
I started out with the ebook and then listened to the audiobook and circled back to the ebook. The narrator wasn’t bad, though a touch dramatic, which left me preferring to read this one instead.

I loved Just My Type by Falon Ballard so I was very excited to get this ARC. A cute enemies to lovers book as Emmy worked with Grayson on her first movie and blames him for the end of her acting career. Will there hatred make for great chemistry both on and off the camera?
Thanks netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review

Having previously read and really enjoyed Falon Ballard's other novels, I was so excited to receive an ARC for her latest novel, RIGHT ON CUE, in exchange for my honest review!! I owe a big thank you to NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam | G.P. Putnam's Sons.
RIGHT ON CUE is a fun story about Emmy Harper, a successful film director, and Grayson West, the man she hasn't trusted since he humiliated her and broke her heart when she was a teenager. When Emmy and Grayson end up unexpectedly starring as romantic leads in a movie, the end results take them both by surprise!
I really enjoyed this novel and, as always, loved Ballard's writing and style. I would recommend this novel to romance fans, fans of enemy-to-lovers stories, and to Ballard fans like myself!

This was my first Falon Ballard, and it won’t be my last! I liked the characters and the enemies-to-lovers, want to stab out your eyes tension between them! It was hilarious how the FMC was in hard core denial about the chemistry the characters obviously had, and I liked the filming and movie aspects. It does have the classic third act breakup and miscommunication trope, and the resolution felt a little fast, but it was still a cute book! Thank you to NetGalley and Putnam Books for the opportunity to read before pub day! RIGHT ON CUE is out now!
ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 rounded up. Loved this one! It was a really cute read and a fun enemies to lovers story. The setting was so sweet and perfect small town vibes. I loved the premise of the plot as well, with the writer turned actor of her own love story. Truly so sweet!

Right on Cue had a sweet, Hallmark movie rom-com vibe premise, but fell flat. I wanted to love this. There was some fun banter, steamy romance, and a fun plot, but the characters' immaturity ruined it for me. I will note Right on Cue contained my two least favorite tropes- MISCOMMUNICATION and third act breakup. Seriously, is it that hard for two grown adult professionals to talk?

Thank you Netgalley and Pengiun Group for the e-arc of Right on Cue. Sadly, this one was just not for me. I've come to learn that any thing with celebrity romance is just not for me. I'm sure this will be perfect for a quick beach read for someone who likes celebrity romance tropes. I am however not that person.

Such a cute couple, I loved their interactions. My con is how often Emmy uses the f word; it was a bit over the top. I think of these movies being closer to a romance book where it's sweet & everyone is nice...except the villain who gets in the way. The plot of a rom-com movie being made kept my interest. Reading the off-camera details was exactly what I'd thought. It's a lot of work and not always as intimate as we think. The nepo baby put me in mind of a few that have tried & failed and then there's the exception to the rule who work out. Such an enjoyable read.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I was so excited for this book because I enjoyed Lease on Love but this one really missed the mark. I am a certified rom-com lover, I love Hallmark movies, and I love a celebrity romance so this book simply checks all the marks everywhere but execution.
To start, both our MCs are simply annoying and way too old to be as immature as they are. Emmy is in her 30s and still holding a grudge against a guy for something that happens when she's 15? Therapy exists maybe try it! Grayson was just like way too cocky but also the "just kidding he's so sweet and sensitive" act was simply not.
I think if it was pitched as not a movie theater release movie but like a direct to TV Hallmark-esque movie it would've been better but this simply was not it.
Thank you netgalley and the publisher!
