I absolutely LOVED this book. In the beginning of the book there is a bride and she dies in her wedding dress get stabbed and the person that killed her takes her ring and says something sinister. I was absolutely confused at this point.
Then the story goes on to another bride to be arranging everything for her wedding. She goes home to find her fiancé in bed with her cousin who was supposed to be one of her bridesmaid. She kicks them out and decides that since they work together she doesn’t want to make it awkward and plans on telling the people that they decided to tell people it would just not work for them so they called off the wedding. Work gets really weird and she starts freelance working.
This is when she finds out that her Dad had a brother whom was adopted left her a house but in order to completely inherit it she has to live there for three years. She thought this would give her a fresh start so she moved into the house and relocated.
Bizarre stuff starts happening and I’m not going to ruin it for anyone but the very beginning of the story with the dead bride and the ring get tied in perfectly.
The ending leaves you on a cliffhanger. I both love and hate cliffhangers. I love the cliffhangers because it leaves you wanting more and who knows when the next book will come out (that’s the hate part as I am super inpatient). I would absolutely recommend this to everyone and I plan on getting a physical copy of this book. I am hoping that I can find a way to get a signed copy. Amazing story!
Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for allowing me to read this captivating book and I am so excited to read more! I was not paid for my review and this is my honest review.

This book was so good and had me on the edge of my seat. Nora Roberts has always been one of my favorite authors. I will recommend this book to my book club!

I honestly don't know exactly how to review this book. Did I like it, yes, did I think it was a little long, also yes. The story was good and I really enjoyed the characters, however, it also felt like nothing happened and then the story just ended with bam a cliffhanger which made me incredibly mad. Why didn't that happen sooner and what is going to happen next? Yes, I know this is a trilogy and yes, now I will have to read the next book to find out what happened, but man do I wish there had been a little more meat in this book and it been a two-book series instead of a trilogy if necessary.
Overall, I am interested in knowing what happens next so I look forward to the next book.

Not bad, but way too long for what it was. The first half of the book I held on expecting something to happen; but by the end of the second half I felt like there was nothing and I wasted time. From the description I was expecting some mystery and even a little thrill, but instead it was felt mild and flat. The characters were nice and likeable, but nothing really happened. The love interest piece was boring. The ghosts had potential but they were so tame and not explored enough. In the end, I just didn't care about what happened to them or how they got there. And them in the house was not a disturbance so I felt like it was anti-climactic.
Narration was great.
Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the arc.

Dear Inheritance,
Nora Roberts is the queen of a great story! I loved that you are the start of another strong series by her. I loved the way that you tied together all of the timelines and Sonya was such an interesting character. You gave me the best creepy, haunted house vibes and I cannot wait until the second boon comes out so I can see where Sonya goes as she travels into the past to discover the secret behind Lost Bride Manor.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced listeners copy of this book. The narrator does a wonderful job with the story and the characters, but for me this was just middle of the road. I enjoyed the characters and the story has a fairly good set up for the second book in this trilogy, but it just left me wanting more. I wanted more history of the brides and more information about the vengeful ghost and just when it seemed like we were getting somewhere the story ended. It was a little too much hallmark and not enough mystery for me.

I hadn’t read a Nora Roberts book in years, so when I saw #Netgalley had the ARC, I requested it. I received it in audio. I didn’t start it immediately because I thought it may be a romance, which is not my preferred genre and I have to be in the mood to read ‘gushy’, but was I surprised. It sucked me in from the first chapter! Nora’s writing doesn’t disappoint. This first book of The Lost Bride trilogy has fantasy/paranormal, strong female characters with great careers, fabulous friendships, and a marvelous haunted house filled with antiques and past owners. I loved the setting. With Nora’s descriptions I could visualize the entire novel. I don’t watch very many Hallmark movies, but I would describe this as a fanciful Hallmark movie with a strong paranormal twist. This is a cozy, fun read - not a scary paranormal at all. I was surprised I liked it so much. Thank you #Netgalley!

I love Nora Roberts and the characters she Builds that's always a Huge thing for me... One of my all-time favourite series is the Born in Series And In death with Eve and Rourke... But i think i need to Avoid Nora Roberts Paranormal books - Usually Paranormal is my go to so when i heard Nora Roberts wrote them i was in My element - Now they are not bad by any means - Her beautiful writing is still there - But Nora's Normal character building and relationships are amazing - throw in the Paranormal it gets a little lost - Not gone - Just.... Not as compelling.... Its the third Paranormal book im reading of hers.... I think from now on with this Author i will stick to her Fabulous Normal books....
The book focuses on Sonya MacTavish, After she Finds her fiance With her cousin, and decides to go Freelance, She discovers a long lost Uncle has left her a Haunted house (although she doesn't know this at the time)
There is Definitely A Nasty ghost - But other than that everyone is always so nice... (Apart from the beginning with the ex fiance) Usually the Grey characters Make Nora's books for me...
A goodish read - I think cozy readers will love it

Wonderful start to a new trilogy. Sonya MacTavish has just inherited from an unknown uncle a mansion, but that is only the start of the mystery. Her father was a twin and separated at birth from his brother, but why she wonders. Her uncle will left her not only with the mansion but funds for the upkeep, mysteries and a few ghosts, with the stipulation that she needs to live there 3 years.
Trey who was a friend and lawyer of the deceased Collin Poole shows Sonya around the place and admits that it is haunted and the mansion nickname is the Lost Brides. The name was given due to all the brides that died on their wedding day, including her uncle’s bride. As Sonya settles in little unexplained things happen, some good, a few annoying and some scary but she isn’t going to let the ghosts drive her out of her home.
The story has the typical magic that draws in throughout the book. Parts reminded me of the show Ghosts, which I love. And as with the majority of Nora’s trilogy, the story continues with a cliffhanger. I just hope book 2 will release soon. I switched back and forth between book and audiobook and reread or relistened to parts in the audiobook. The narrator was fantastic, but with the book was easier to backtrack when needed. Thank you NetGalley for this eARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story. #NetGalley #Inheritance #StMartinPress #MacmillanAudio #TheLostBrideTrilogy #NoraRoberts

This was my first Nora Roberts book and I loved it. This book hooked me in and I cannot wait to read the next 2. Inheritance was super spooky and mysterious with a little love story tied in. That cliff hanger though!!
Thank you NetGalley and St, Martins press and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to listen to this book.

I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait for the rest of the series. The ghostly paranormal aspect in this book is what you would expect from Nora Roberts. She creates stories that are relatable that hook you right from the start. It's a little gothic, a little scary at some parts, but the majority of the book is light and happy. The ending was amazing as well, and really left me wanting the next book right away. I won't rehash the synopsis as you can read the blurb and the summary from all the other reviewers. I will say that the audio book had me glued to my seat wanting to take it all in. I finished this in record time because I just kept wanting to come back to the story. Nora Roberts has done it again and I will forever be a fan of her work.

Inheritance, the first book in The Lost Bride Trilogy by Nora Roberts, is a novel that offers a unique blend of romance, friendship, and a touch of the paranormal. While the paranormal aspect may not appeal to all readers, it does add an intriguing layer to the narrative that sets it apart from typical romance novels.
I am personally not one to read books like this and quite honestly - if I saw this book on the shelf without Nora Roberts name attached to it - I would probably pass it by. I am a fan of Roberts writing and find that her ability to cross genres is quite impressive.
The characters in Inheritance are one of its strongest aspects. Roberts has a knack for creating characters that are complex, relatable, and engaging. The friendship between Sonya and Cleo is particularly noteworthy. Their bond is genuine and heartwarming, providing a solid emotional anchor throughout the story. Their interactions are filled with warmth, humor, and a deep understanding of each other, making their friendship one of the most enjoyable aspects of the book.
The romance between Sonya and Trey, however, feels somewhat rushed. Their relationship progresses quickly, with little build-up or development. One moment they are strangers, and the next they are a couple. This rapid progression may leave some readers feeling a bit disoriented and wishing for more time to explore their relationship.
Despite this, the romance is still enjoyable. While their relationship may have benefited from a slower pace, their romance is still a key part of the story that many readers will enjoy.
Inheritance is a quick and easy read, making it a great choice for audiobook listeners. I found the audiobook to be engaging, thanks in no small part to Brittany Presley's superb narration. She is a favorite narrator who it is always a pleasure to listen to.
I don't actually feel like a lot of exciting things happened in Inheritance. To me it was more character building and learning to live with the ghosts who haunt the manor Sonya inherits. I wouldn't mind having "Molly" who leaves Sonya's kitchen and bedroom in immaculate condition! I do feel like the book started to get intriguing about the 85% or so mark and then - ugh - it leaves you with such a cliffhanger. I don't know when Book 2 of this trilogy will be released. I also should note that the cover of this novel is quite stunning.
Thank you for the advanced audiobook in exchange for my honest review. I think I'll go with 3 1/2 stars for this one.

Wow! I had no idea what I was in store for when I started Inheritance. I have never read a Nora Roberts book before, and now I wish I wouldn't have waited so long.
After discovering her husband-to-be is having an affair and that her father's twin brother has left her his estate, Sonya finds herself moving to Maine to start over. Little does she know, she won't be alone. Her cursed Victorian manor is full of ghosts from the estate's despairing past, and they refuse to be silent.
Inheritance has the feel of a contemporary romance or a slice-of-life women's fiction, with a historical, gothic mystery/ghost story lurking at the edges. I enjoyed the narrative structure, and it hooked me from the start. Some readers will find the plot lacking or slow-moving, but the back third raises the stakes and had me on the edge of my seat.
One of my favorite parts of this Inheritance was how feminist it was without being heavy-handed. I found the female-forward story refreshing. The relationships were fantastic, free of catty women and mother-daughter drama. The best friend character was chef's kiss. I adored the ghosts. The way they communicated with Sonya was perfect.
If I have any complaints, it is with the romance, despite adoring the love interest. While they didn't lack complete chemistry, they felt more like great friends than lovers.
I found the mystery compelling and cannot wait to learn more as the trilogy continues. I will note for those who hate cliffhangers, proceed with caution. Even though I saw this one coming, I am still disappointed I have to wait a year to return to this world.
I did this on audio, and Brittney Pressley did fantastic, as always. She is becoming one of my favorite narrators.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I entered the Nora Robert’s fan party late. I read my first by her this summer. Now I’m a huge fan. This newest book did not disappoint. The characters of Sonya, Collin, Cleo and lost brides house and the rest of them captured my heart. The narration was excellent. I can’t wait to read the next book in the trilogy. That’s my only
Complaint. I now have to wait.

This was the first Nora Roberts book that I’ve read, and thank goodness, because it was starting to feel like I was the only person in the bookish community (who reads romance) that hasn’t read one of her books!
We get a few different perspectives in the story, and it takes place in various time periods. The story begins in 1806, with Astrid Poole on her wedding day. But things go wrong, and the day ends in tragedy. But then it jumps to the present day, when Sonya MacTavish is going through an entire overhaul of her life, and a move to Maine to live in a house she just inherited, with the stipulation that she live there for three years, sounds like a great idea.
The first thing I noticed in this story was the way that Roberts builds these characters that are so well-developed that they feel like real people. Even the side characters are realistic, and I loved the way they all interacted with each other. The relationship between Sonya and Cleo, her best friend, was so positive and supportive. Sonya and Trey, the lawyer, have great chemistry right from the start, and both of them are such dog lovers, that I couldn’t help but love them both. Even the dogs have personalities and play their parts in the story.
Once I was invested in the characters, the paranormal stuff started appearing. It was worked into the story so well, and I really liked how it was done. It showed both the good and the bad sides of haunted houses, with both benevolent and malevolent spirits inhabiting the house. I liked the way that Roberts utilized humor frequently through the paranormal aspects of the story, giving the spirits plenty of personality of their own.
Overall, this was a fantastic story. As an audiobook, Brittany Presley is a fantastic narrator, making a great story even more enjoyable. I loved the romance between Sonya and Trey, watching it develop slowly and believably, and it kept me invested in between interludes of figuring out more about the lost brides. There’s plenty of plot twists that I never saw coming, although there’s a lot of action that occurs at the end of the story, leaving me desperate for the next book. Just be prepared for a heck of a cliffhanger ending.

Anyone else surprised by the content of this Nora Roberts book?! This is so different than what she usually writes. Romance? Yeah, that's the same. Good writing? That's the same too. A cozy, small town romance equipped with GHOSTS that span over decades with a cliffhanger that makes you want to scream and curse the author?? Yeah that's new for her.
Having said that, I LOVED Inheritance. It's one of my favorite reads this year so far. I listened to the audio and read when I couldn't listen. The foreword by Nora herself made the story all that much more interesting to me. The narrator was really good and enthusiastic. I liked listening to it more than most.
Sonya is ready for her next chapter when a gothic, family owned mansion is dropped in her lap due to an uncle she didn't even know existed leaving it to her as an inheritance. There she finds that she's not alone in the home, or in life when a certain handsome man comes around.
I can't say enough good things about this and have already told so many people they need to scoop this book when it comes out. It's so so so good.
Thank you to Netgalley, Nora Roberts and MacMillen Audio for the chance to read this ARC. This opinion is mine alone and not promised to anyone for an advanced read.
BUY THIS BOOK. You wont regret it.

4.5⭐️
I love it! The perfect start to the series!
If you're looking for a book with:
• ghosts
• slow burn
• small town
• murder mystery
• fantasy/paranormal romance
Please give this one a shot, it's totally worth it!

I knew this title was the first in a trilogy but didn't expect such a Cliff Hanger! Sure hope Nora Roberts is planning on releasing the other 2 books in quick succession as this has been a fun haunted house book. Solve the mystery and of course, in typical NR fashion, beautiful people and perfect love match(es). Brittney Pressley does a fabulous job narrating and giving each character a distinct voice/accent. Thank you to Net Galley and MacMillan Audio for the opportunity to listen to this ARC

Nora Roberts is the master of romance writing and her newest book doesn’t disappoint. Inheritance, the first book in a new trilogy, tells the story of a haunted manor in Maine that Sonya inherits at the perfect time in her life, when she is met with a challenge about where to turn in a life she thought she knew. Once at the manor, she encounters some really lovely people, both dead and alive. But not everyone is friendly and there is a dark presence for Sonya to navigate. Of course, being a Nora Roberts novel, there is an element of romance with Trey, a local resident and attorney that Sonya meets and comes to care for.
As with any book that is part of a Nora Roberts trilogy, there is a cliffhanger that will leave you reeling! To wait more than a year for the next book is going to be awful, as I want to know what happens right now! This book did not disappoint and I will be waiting (im) patiently for the next in the trilogy.
I had the opportunity to listen to an audiobook of this title and I loved every second of it! The narrator kept me engaged and I felt like I was with the characters as the story took place. Her voice was rich, warm, and inviting.
Being able to hear a story allows me to not rush ahead to find out what happens next. As with other audiobooks, I was able to get lost in the story and a big part of that is due to the narration. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an advance audio copy of this book. I’ve been sucked in and can’t wait to see what happens next!

I adored this book so much. It is reminiscent of Dragon Heart Legacy. I'm envious of the protagonists ability to fully hyper focus on her work. I love Cleo, but I felt like she is a puppy on a leash. Whenever Sonya calls, Cleo comes running. I understand best friends and all, but Sonya kind of pushes and pulls Cleo around. She calls Cleo and has her come over right away. She has Cleo visit the manor, and has her move in. Or maybe Cleo is bi and secretly loves Sonya. Cleo seems like such a strong amazing character, but she bows down to Sonya too much. I cannot wait for book 2.
