A High Tide Murder was brilliant!

In this story, Chloe Barnes a Parisian pastry chef returns home to Azalea Bay to open a cannabis cafe. Murder follows, and Chloe puts on her sleuthing hat to solve the mystery before someone she cares about is charged for the murder.

Loved the storyline, the characters, and the marvelous setting. A must-read!!

Another fantastic read by this author. This is the next book in this cozy mystery series. Chloe runs her own cannabis sweet shop. I love the FMC and the supporting characters. A fun read.

Thank you to NetGalley for the arc. Cannot wait to read more in this series.

Review below is from goodreads

Got this arc from netgalley.
I love that Cozy mysteries have a lot of different and sometimes unique settings, vibes and places. Haven't read any Cozy set in a cannabis cafe, as I hadn't read the first in the series. It had the common feel of genre and was interesting reading about surfing and cannabis. It touches on some difficult topics such as suicide and drugging with drinks. But I felt it didn't go to much into it.

Chloe Barnes is a French trained pastry chef who has come home to Azalea Bay, to take care of her sick Grandmother, and lick her wounds after her Chef fiancé cheated on her. In book one, Chloe decided that she was going to open a cannabis cafe, and she solved the mystery behind a murder where her beloved Aunt Dawn was the suspect. Now in the second book in this series, she has opened the cafe just in time for the annual surf competition, and her business is off to a roaring start. One of the contestants is her friend Matt’s brother Ethan. When Ethan’s roommate Aaron is found dead the cops are writing it off as a self-induced, Ethan doesn’t think that Aaron would do that and enlists Chloe’s help to solve the mystery. I loved all of the characters in this series and I enjoyed figuring out who dunnit and how. Overall, an enjoyable cozy mystery. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the Publisher for my honest opinion.

Genre: Cozy Mystery

Characters: 5/5

This is the second book in this series written by Emily George. While I have not read the first book, I feel as though I have learned enough about the characters and the POV’s past to not need to read the first…..although now I am looking forward to reading it.

Chloe Barnes has opened up a new bakery. But this is not just any bakery. It is a cannabis ingredient cafe called Baked by Chloe. After Chloe went through some rough times in her life she decided that she would return to her home town, Azalea Bay California. Something big is underway and the waves in the ocean have brought surfers to town. The Azelea Bay pro surf competition has brought a few surfers to town wanting to win the big prize. Aaron Gill, the fan favorite and one to watch is no longer doing well enough to keep in first place due to issues that have been plaguing him for some time. Aaron was ultimately found dead and it was ruled a suicide. People that knew Aaron, like his best friend Ethan Wilson, knew that he would never think about suicide. No matter what he was going through. Ethan came to Chloe and asked if she would help investigate his death. Chloe starts right away and what she finds out is enough to turn the ruling of suicide to something much different, Homicide. Chloe delves in even further and finds out that there are people that wanted him dead. Could this be related to the surfing competition? Can Chloe find out the truth and give his family the comfort of knowing that he did not take his own life?

This is a very well written mystery that will keep you entertained from page one until the last page. The characters are so well developed, flawed, likable, and Chloe is definitely one to reckon with. With her kick ass persona to the way she builds up her life from what she sees as the lowest she has been to starting her cafe and enjoying everything, it was very hard not to root for her. The author builds up the story and adds mystery and suspense with twists that you will not want to stop. I thoroughly enjoyed this cozy mystery and really loved the way the author keeps you engaged all the way through the book.

#AHighTideMurder #NetGalley is the second book in this new series by Emily George.
Chloe Barnes owns Baked by Chloe, a cannabis bakery in Azalea Bay, California.
Chloe hopes that the Azalea Bay Pro Challenger Surf Competition will bring new customers to her shop, which sounds amazing.
A death at the competition sends Chloe into investigation mode once again, as she works to prove her the perpetrator is.
I enjoy this series a lot, I appreciate the author's portrayal of cannabis use, as I use it myself to treat the symptoms of my fibromyalgia.
I'm hoping to see this series continue for a long time.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of the book.

I'm happy to recommend this series to other readers who enjoy a well written cozy mystery.
