Thank you to Netgalley and to the publisher for this free eARC in exchange for my honest review. This is a very cute book with big and beautiful watercolor illustrations. In the book, the baby zebra Little Stripe and his friend the caterpillar search for Little Stripe's dad as they look at all the different black-and-white striped animals in the wild. The illustrations are colorful enough to hold children's attention and I think this will be even more captivating with the cut-outs. The end of the book has a glossary showing all the animals again with a little blurb about each one. This is perfect for a read-aloud to children between 3 and 6.

This story is about Little Stripe who is lost and can’t find his daddy. With his new friend the monarch caterpillar he sets out to find him. Along the way they spot several animals that are also black and white and keep searching until they can find daddy Zebra. This is a cute story that lets your child interact with the wonderful illustrations while they discover some new and some familiar animals that share the black and white stripes like zebras. Each page has a special die-cut hole so your child can peek at the clues for the next page and see if they can guess the animal. We loved this book for how interactive it was. Perfect for young little ones and learning new animals. Your family will love joining this adorable adventure.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was fun meeting so many striped animals! The illustrations are so cute, kudos to Van Wright for perfectly bringing out the essence of the story.

The illustrations were extra special. Even the animals had vivid facial expressions. I didn’t realize there so many black and white creatures. It was also nice that the story focused on finding the Daddy. I was given an ARC to review honestly. This would be a good book to introduce a child to nature and reading, pointing out different things in the pictures. At the end, there’s a little glossary telling a little bit more about each of the animals. Really enjoyed this book.

A pleasant book, but one that only really gets us used to there being black-and-white striped animals and that’s about it. If that’s enough gain – beyond the very young just holding and using such a book – this is decent enough. A young zebra is hunting for its father, and a passing monarch caterpillar checks each time it sees a black and white critter whether that be the one. It’s not – but we can’t be sure until we check out what little we can see through a hole in the board to the next beastie, and turn the page to see what it actually is. Still, as far as this does go it’s very good – it looks great, and we do learn a tiny bit about each animal at the end, once we’ve hit the closing sentiment. All told four stars may be generous, but it feels right. Just don’t consider how impossible it would be to see all these potential zebra fathers at the same place and time.

This was a very sweet short story about a zebra named Little Stripe, who was searching for his daddy. The general design of the book was beautiful, with vibrant, colourful illustrations of the various animals that Little Stripe encountered during his search. It didn't take too long to read at all, but it brought a little smile to my face, and I think that children would really enjoy it.

We loved this book so much we read it twice in a row. It was fun on the first read discovering what other animals were black and white and then the second time through he loved interacting and yelling out no to the question of if that was his dad. I also really enjoyed the facts at the end about each animal!

A beautifully written and illustrated book of a journey for a little one trying to find his daddy and the friends he meets along the way.

This was such a cute book! I loved all the different animals that looked like a zebra, and that the author said what exactly their animal names are. And then explained what the animals were with a description at the end.
I would, and have read this to my three year old and he loved it too !

My six year old read this with me and he wasn't very impressed. Maybe five and under would appreciate it more. I thought the images were very cute and I like that the author introduces the reader to the animals at the end as a informative piece.

Perfect illustrations for my little pre reader. Captivated by the pictures. Story not too long for her short attention span. I love the last page descriptions and additional facts about the animals mentioned in the quest to find daddy.

This was a cute story! Very similar to "are you my mother" but with animals who are black & white! Loved it. Would be perfect for little ones.
