Its hard to know who to trust in the Devlin family. The central character of the story, TJ, is an ex-con and an alcoholic. He is working for his family's law practice as an investigator, but we get the sense that he is just marking time, and hasn't found a purpose in his largely aimless life.

TJ's siblings are hard-working, successful lawyers, like their parents. When his older brother, John, lands TJ in the middle of an apparent crime, then lies about his involvement, it seems to light a fire under TJ, and he begins to work seriously at the job he is paid to do.

Except for TJ, the family members were largely unlikeable for most of the story. As the climax of the story was reached, they became more fleshed out and relatable.

This is a solid page-turner with an entertaining storyline.

TJ Devlin is the screwup in a family of successful lawyers. He gets the chance to be the hero when his brother John comes to him for help with a case. However, as TJ starts to investigate, he realizes there might be larger things at play.

I thought the first half of this book was a little slow, but it did pick up after the first half. I think part of it was that for a long time, most of TJ’s family just sucked. I do think too the resolution of the initial death was a little underwhelming/felt like a bit of a deus ex machina. Less of a suspense, and more of a family drama with some intrigue thrown in.

Lisa Scottoline does it again! Not surprising. She can do no wrong! The Devlins are just like every other family, that is until you know The Truth about the Devlins.

This book was good but not great. The author is coming to our library this fall and I would Recommend anyone coming to the event to read this book. It was worth the read and can't wait to hear what the author has to say about it.

Another page turner by Lisa Scottoline! Ms. Scottoline does such an amazing job of developing some twisted families and taking the reader on a ride through their world. This story kept me guessing and I really enjoyed the main character. This author is always an automatic read for me and this book just proves why my choice is the right one! Definitely a book I will recommend to others! #TheTruthabouttheDevlins #NetGalley

“At first I thought I heard him wrong.”

This one came out in March and took me longer to read than I would have liked. Most of the characters are unlikeable but I wanted to know how it would all turn out. If you like family drama this one is for you!

TJ Devlin is the youngest member of the Devlin family. He's also the most likely to get into trouble, or at least that was his past. Now things are happening around the Devlin family law offices, and while TJ is trying to figure out why they are happening his family is blaming him. I loved this book up until the very end. The last 6 chapters or so were a letdown.

This was an interesting read. I really liked the main character TJ. I thought the author did great character development. The story was pretty good and moved at a good pace. It was a little hokey at times, but I liked the book.

The Truth about the Devlins by Lisa Scottoline was a slow burn that picks up the last 1/3 of the book. The narrator of the story is youngest child TJ Devlin who is the black sheep of the family with his father, older brother, John and older sister Gabby being attorneys are Devlin and Devlin. One night, John asks TJ for his help after a meeting gone wrong. Everyone is keeping secrets and this story is full of conspiracies, family drama and a few twists.

I’ve read and really enjoyed a lot of past Lisa Scottoline books, especially as a criminal lawyer myself just like Lisa. Her twists and suspense are great and her expert knowledge on criminal law shines through her work. Her writing is always excellent. But with this book I got to about 25% and had to put it to the side for now and it really pains me to write this DNF review! :( The characters were very unlikable and I didn’t really care for the story, or what happened to them in the end so I was struggling to get back to it every time and ended up in a little bit of a slump after. I might try to pick back up again in the future when I’m more in the mood for slow burn family drama.

Love the Chester County native and how she writes her books. I've read a couple of hers before and fully enjoyed this one too. The characters were great and I was interested in the plot the whole time. Love the lawyer vibes and how the characters felt in the room with me. Looking forward to what Lisa writes next and already can't wait. Would definitely recommend to my followers.

Imagine being the only one in your family that’s not a lawyer and being looked upon as the screw up. I had to pace myself in reading this book, because I could have finished in one sitting. However, I decided not to be greedy and instead enjoy the thrill. TJ, the family screw up is on parole, sober for 2 years and counting, along comes the straw that beaks the camel’ back from his arrogant brother John, putting everything and everyone TJ cares for in jeopardy. John knows how badly TJ wants to fully be accepted back into the family fold, and is doing a good job as the family’ company investigator (not a real title), but it’s something. The Truth about the Devlins is the book you wished for just a few ore pages when you’ve finished.
Don’t waste time, grab this and get to reading.

This is my first book by Scottoline, and it was a pleasant surprise. I went into this one blind, and it was different than my assumptions. This was a very entertaining read! There was family drama and action from the beginning. Miss in lies, deceit, and crime, and you have the makings of a great book.

This story was well-written, and the twists were well-placed and kept me wanting more. TJ was my fave! He was the perfect main character. He was damaged, but good deep down. He was sarcastic and quirky, and just a delight to get to know in this book. I was rooting for him from the beginning until the end.

You are sucked in to this latest thriller on the opening page. It just builds from there. The Devlin's on the outside are a very successful family with a thriving law firm, Devlin & Devlin. The firm is founded by the parents and joined by John, the favored child and sister Gabby also a lawyer who does pro bono work. The story is told by TJ the family screw up or is he? After a stint in jail, he is given a made up job as an investigator for the firm. TJ gets caught up in the family business and unravels its secrets. Get ready for a ride, as this story will certainly provide some interesting twists and is wrapped up nicely at the end. Highly recommend.

I've been a longtime fan of Lisa Scottoline since my college days.

The Truth About the Devlins is a stand-alone thriller, so you don't need to read any of her earlier works.

I did enjoy this book, but did think it moved a little slowly and was repetitive. The family was super dysfunctional and very unlikeable. I'm hoping for better from her next effort.

This story is a slow burn, with a family filled with drama, contention, and malicious intent towards other family members. TJ a likeable main lead character tells the story from his point of view, starting with his downfall into alcoholism. The story is based around the family's law firm which all members are employed through, a pleasant slow burn read if you are looking for a story to keep you engaged.

TJ Devlin is the black sheep of the family full of prominent attorneys. One night his brother seeks out his help after thinking he may have killed a client. This causes the brothers to set off on an dangerous investigation into a conspiracy involving said client.

This one took me a while to get into so I will say it's a bit of a slow-burn but it really picks up toward the middle and never really slows down. Overall, this was an entertaining domestic thriller with a solid plot and some twists. There's also an interesting sideplot involving TJ's past and a mystery that unfolds about why he did some prison time. There's plenty of family drama too. I liked it but it didn't blow me away.
