This is officially my last Penelope Douglas. I am simply not a dark romance reader and this one was a lot as I expected. I will say I was glad to see all the stories get tied up and the plot twist at the end was nice.

THank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.

The protagonist, Will Grayson, is a complex figure—reckless, wild, and unbound by any rules other than his own whims. Will's past actions, especially his antagonistic relationship with Emory, are marked by a blend of cruelty and protectiveness. High school memories reveal his dual nature: cornering Emory when no one was looking, yet fiercely guarding her safety.

The crux of the story lies in Will's deep-seated hatred for Emory, fueled by his belief that she is responsible for the chaos of Devil’s Night, the incriminating videos, and the subsequent arrests. Despite this, Emory remains unrepentant, adding layers to their complicated history.

The plot takes an intriguing turn when Will discovers that one of his enemies has come to Blackchurch. As the mansion's security detail departs, leaving Will with free reign over the house and grounds for an unsupervised month, a sinister smile hints at the unfolding drama. Blackchurch houses five prisoners, but for Emory, Will is only one of her problems.

The author skillfully crafts a narrative filled with tension, mystery, and psychological depth. Will's internal struggles and his interactions with Emory drive the story forward, creating a dynamic that keeps readers on edge. The secluded and oppressive atmosphere of Blackchurch enhances the sense of danger and suspense, making it a perfect setting for this dark tale.

The Devil' Night series from Penelope Douglas concludes with Nightfall, which is Will's story. Like the other horseman, he's not all what he seems and his experiences after the first devil's night have done their formative job.

There are plenty of secrets, twists and turns throughout as well as plenty of steamy moments between these characters. Being the final book in the series, it wraps up a lot of loose ends.

Like most of the books in this series, the characters take extreme actions and their psychological state is sometimes questionable. It even made this reader uncomfortable at spots. I guess that's the attraction to this series -- where is that line of redeemability?.

Overall, an interesting ending to a series that works well if you are looking for a dark, psychological romantic suspense kind of story.

I loved that Will got his own story. He was a character that didn’t stand out among the strong personalities of the Horsemen, but this book proved how wrong I was. I started this and I literally could not stop. My heart was hurting most of the time, because I wanted these two to be together and their path was definitely not easy! But what a great final book!

❤️Tropes❤️
💋 opposites attract
💋 enemies to lovers
💋 forced proximity

Will had wanted Emory ever since he saw her. But she’s the reason he and his friends were locked up. Now he’s at Blackwood, the notorious “prison for those who can’t let their good name be besmirched by their family going to prison”. And she was delivered to him on a golden plate. There’s nowhere for her to run, and no one from the outside is coming for another month. And he’s not the only one locked up here.

This is the last book in the story which follows Will and Emmy. This book picks up a bit after the 3rd one where Will is locked in Blackchurch but somehow Emory is also there. I really enjoyed this book as it takes on a more different route compared to the other books. I enjoyed getting to learn about Blackchurch and the people who ended up there. There were a lot of conflicts and the story was very entertaining. I enjoyed the alternating povs and getting flashbacks of the past. Douglas did a great job of writing the finale of this series.

Will is known as the weak one but is he actually? I liked how he proves himself in this book showing he can do things on his own. He had a great character development and I loved it. Then there is Emory who hasn’t had the greatest childhood and doesn’t think she should be love. I also loved seeing her grow and knowing there is a different side to Will. There were many side characters and I loved being introduced to more but also seeing some side romances form. The romance was enemies to lovers, instant love, and forbidden love with steamy scenes throughout the story.

The ending was well done and I loved how the book came to be. So much happened in this series that were all separate conflicts but became one big one at the end. Overall this book is wonderful and I recommend checking the series. The first book is very dark than the rest but once you get through book 1, the others are better.

Your honor, I’m obsessed.

This series has me in a chokehold. Dark & twisty, this book grabbed my attention from the very first page.

Felt like we were waiting forever for Will to get his HEA & I couldn’t be happier with how it all came to be. I highly recommend this book for the dark romance lovers.

Nightfall is the final installment in the Devil's Night series, and it's a long one that had me captivated. It took me a bit to finish it because I had to keep putting it down to run some errands, feed my family, or sleep. You know, the usual stuff that prevents readers from reading their books.

I've been meaning to read this book for so long, but I wasn't ready to say goodbye to the Devil's Night series. I wasn't prepared to read Will Grayson's book, but I'm glad I did now. I was curious to finally find out who Emory Scott was and why Will had issues with her in the first book in the series, Corrupt. Emory was the girl that Will had a crush on for years but she didn't want anything to do with him. I knew she broke his heart, and I needed to understand why. I also needed to know how she would fit into the series with the others because I thought initially that Will was going to end up with Alex. I trusted Penelope and where they were going to take their readers with Will's book.

If you read Kill Switch and Conclave, you would have learned that Will was missing and the Horsemen and their ladies wanted to find him. They suspected he was forced to go to Blackchurch, where the rich send their sons if they are caught acting up. It was up to Michael, Kai, Damon, and their ladies, including Alex, to find Blackchurch and hopefully get Will out of there. He had missed out on a lot since he went missing. The issue is that Will doesn't want to leave Blackchurch because he has plans there, but he never expected his past to show up there. Emory Scott ends up at Blackchurch and she has no clue how she got there and who sent her. All she knows is that she's about to face the one person she's tried to avoid since she broke his heart, and she finds out he isn't the same boy that she once loved. She's also going to face the others at Blackchurch, and they are all there for a reason.

This was an emotional rollercoaster of a book from the first page to the last page when it came to Will and Emory. The back and forth from past to present helped explain what happened to these two characters and what made them have a falling out and also had them come back together.  Their character growth from nine years ago to the present was deeply moving. Emory's struggles and resilience in the face of a difficult life resonated with me, and I understood why she kept things from Will. She ended up leaving her past for a while but was forced back to fix things and make things right.

One of the standout moments for me was at the end of the book when everything was revealed, and the truth about Will's situation at Blackchurch came to light. This was the moment when Will's strength and resilience came forward and showed his character growth the most. The other Horsemen were even impressed with his strength and independence.

The only thing that bugged me was Alex and how things played out for her in this book. She deserved to have her own book, but I did appreciate the twist to the storyline of Will's book that included some kind of happiness for Alex because I thought she was going get shafted.

I give the final full-length novel four stars. Although I'm sad it's finished, I'm happy that every character who I've come to care deeply about has found happiness after so much heartache and trouble. I still see Damon as the scariest of the bunch. Michael will always be a favorite (even after he ticked me off in Conclave), and now Will is another favorite. Kai seems to be the most reasonable one who knows how to handle situations. I'm going to miss them, even the FMCs, who definitely knew how to handle the Horsemen.

I highly recommend this series if you enjoy Dark Romantic Suspense with several different storylines involving revenge, mayhem, and spice.

Nightfall by Penelope Douglas is the final book in the Devil's Night series and it is exactly what you expect from Douglas and this series! Its dark, gritty, taboo, and haunting. You really have to read the previous books in order to understand this one properly, even though each book is about a different couple.

Will and Emory's story is heartbreaking really. Her history is so sad, and we know Will's story (mostly). What gets me about this series is I never stopped being surprised. Douglas throws in twists that you just couldn't anticipate. It's nuts! Nightfall is no different. It is also super sexy, so if that isn't your thing, you might want to avoid this series. Here was my problem with the book: Alex and Aydin. They kind of took a lot of page time (especially in the group sex). It just felt kind of over the top. Will and Emory's story had so much going for it, and I felt Alex and Aydin kind of took some of that away.

Nightfall by Penelope Douglas is one of the most electrifying sagas I have ever enjoyed reading. The final installment in the Devil's Night series certainly lived up to its predecessors, delivering a thrilling conclusion that left me on the edge of my seat.

I have to admit, I DNF this book. It isn't the fault of the author. It fitted into the series well, the characters and plot points were there as well as the spice, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

This was a strong finale entry in this series, I enjoyed getting back in this world and how it felt like a strong conclusion. The characters were what I was expecting and thought the overall way they were written worked overall. I thought the romance element worked with what I wanted and it was a great overall read. I’m excited to read more from Penelope Douglas as I’ve enjoyed everything that I read.

I would die for Will Grayson. He was my favorite throughout the series, I salivated over every little crumb of him that Penelope provided and they continued to deliver in his book. The love between Will and Emory is so authentic and the growth and pain that they go through over the course of the novel is captivating. It's not always that you fall equally in love with both of the main characters but that is one area that Penelope has never let me down. Book-smart, wallflower Emory is the perfect counterpart to Will, and she does not take his dominating personality sitting down. She is a force all on her own.
Penelope Douglas delivers time and time again on beautifully crafted tension and sizzling spice. A one-click author.

I have never read anything by this author, but I did enjoy this book. I did not realize it was a part of a series, the last book, but I still liked it. I may read the others and come back to this.

Okay, so I know that there are MANY people who are obsessed with Penelope Douglas and this book series in particular. I was really excited to get a chance to read the series based on what others have said. Unfortunately, I have to say that I really struggled reading it. Maybe it's just not my cup of tea? DNF, giving a three star because I can't leave it blank.

Will and Emory are probably my second favorite of the Devil's Night couples. This one could have been shortened a little bit but it was still really enjoyable.
