Gosh what a nail biting book. The story was really gripping and something I could relate to having been in a similar situation. I loved the narrator, Tamsin Kennard she made the book come alive and was very good with voice changes and putting the right amount of emphasis in the places that needed them, she enhanced the brilliantly written story.

When you think that there is nothing more that can surprise you, think again. Never, never take anything for granted and do not become complacent!

Your family is missing when you arrive expecting an enjoyable family holiday. After waiting and worrying with no word of their whereabouts you reach out to the police knowing the risks. Wow! This psychological thriller gripped me immediately. Secrets, denial, and deception drive this twisted, unpredictable tale. I enjoyed how the story was told from different perspectives and timelines. There were so many shocking twists I never knew where the plot was going. The narration added a layer of suspense while bringing the characters to life. As usual, Rona Halsall delivers an original, compelling story that will stay with me for a long time. Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for my audiobook.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Love You Gone' by Rona Halsall.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Rona Halsall, Bookouture publishers, Bookouture Audiobooks and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 19th December 2023.

This is the seventh book I have read by this author. I have previously read 'Her Mother's Lies', The Ex Boyfriend', 'The Guest Room', 'The Liar's Daughter', 'The Wife Next Door' and 'The Bigamist' and highly recommend them all.

This novel consists of 49 chapters and an epilogue. It is set over four parts. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

Wow!!!! Well done Rona on another amazing success!!! An absolutely fantastic unputdownable psychological thriller. Extremely well written as are all Rona's books I have previously read with vivid descriptions that absorb you into the storyline. It was also fantastically narrated by the fabulous Tamsin Kennard. The storyline is chillingly realistic and it kept me on the edge of my seat and then on the edge of my bed until late at night as I just could not out it down!!! I really enjoyed trying to work out who was telling the truth and who was hiding what throughout this drama packed page turner. Mel arrives at the holiday home she has booked with her family to discover her family are missing and there's a note left saying they have gone for a walk. However, hours later there are still no sign of them so she contacts the police. However, all isn't as it seems and there are always two sides to every story which we soon find out when we discover Luke's side. Just when I thought I had it all worked out, yet again, Rona proves that she is a writing legend and proves me wrong yet again!!! I will never admit that to my partner mind as he knows I am always right but a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Rona for proving me wrong!! I have read countless crime and psychological thrillers so it is getting harder and harder to surprise me but Rona manages it every single time without fail!!! I was captivated throughout and the storyline was absolutely rammed with secrets, lies, love, mystery ,suspense, tension, shocks, twists , lies and red herrings all the way up until the very perfect ending. Rona's evocative writing skills and Tamsin's brilliant narrative brings not just the storyline and atmosphere to life but also each of the characters who leap out of the pages at the reader. However, I'm not going to say anything about them as I will let you draw your own conclusions when you meet them yourself!! I cannot wait to get dragged back into another one of this amazing authors books!!

This is one of the few books that I have listened to 100% on Audiobook. If I listen to a book on audiobook I usually also read the physical book between but for the second time I listened to the whole book and I was impressed! I must say a HUGE congratulations to the narrator Tamsin Kennard who did an amazing job bringing this story and the characters to life. I have previously listened to 'Her First Child' by Sheryl Browne, 'The Suspect' by Kathryn Croft and 'My Daughters Boyfriend' and 'Her Husband's Mistake' by Daniel Hurst that were all also narrated by Tamsin Kennard and I would highly recommend listening to or reading them all as it they re other fantastic page turners from other great authors!! I would listen to it in the car and while walking at any opportunity. I'm not only looking forward to reading more books by Rona but also to listening to more books narrated by Tamsin.

Congratulations Rona on yet another HUGE success and for, yet again, managing to shock me when many fail. This would make an epic movie that I would love to see come out!! This is the exact reason you are one of my favourite authors and here's to your next success 🥂!!!

Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the prologue of Rona's 'The Bigamist' which is actually one I have already read and if you enjoyed this book then I can guarantee you will love that one too. I would highly recommend reading it!!!

Overall an addictive, page turning, epic and action packed psychological thriller that will shock you throughout!!

Love You Gone is a gripping thriller that I could not stop listening to. It is the story of a young widower Lucas who remarries too quickly after his first wife's death. His new wife Mel seems to be everything he wants and needs for him and his two children. She is a successful business owner who seems to have it all together. But does she really. Things are starting to fray at the edges of their marriage and so when Lucas suggests a country getaway at a cottage in Scotland Mel agrees to meet her new family there after a work weekend. But when she arrives at the cottage no one is there. Lights are on, clothes and toys are strewn about, but where is her family. Lots of twists and turn ensue about where Lucas and his children might have ended up. Great story telling and I can seriously recommend this book for mysterious/thriller fun.

"Love You Gone" by Rona Halsall is the kind of audiobook that makes you cancel all your plans just to keep listening. This psychological thriller, with its chilling narrative and expert narration, transports you right into the heart of a family’s darkest secrets.

The story starts with Mel arriving at a holiday cottage in the Lake District, expecting the warm embrace of her family and maybe a cozy night in. But instead, she finds a cold, empty house and a cryptic note. The tension builds as hours pass without any sign of her husband Luke and their children. Halsall masterfully escalates the suspense, making each passing moment feel like a ticking time bomb.

The narration of this audiobook deserves a special mention. The voice actor brings an incredible depth to Mel’s character, portraying her escalating panic and deep-seated fears with such realism that you can’t help but feel entangled in the drama. The pacing is perfect, keeping you on the edge of your seat, and the emotional intensity is palpable.

As the story unfolds, revealing the not-so-perfect realities of Mel’s marriage, Halsall weaves a complex tapestry of lies, secrets, and betrayals. The plot twists are as unexpected as they are satisfying, reminiscent of the shocking revelations in "Gone Girl" and "Behind Closed Doors." Just when you think you've figured it all out, Halsall throws another curveball that leaves you reeling.

The strength of this audiobook lies in its ability to keep you guessing. Every character is a suspect, every memory a potential clue. The psychological depth explored in the narrative is both haunting and compelling. Halsall doesn’t just tell a story; she explores the intricate dynamics of relationships and the lengths people will go to protect their secrets.

In conclusion, "Love You Gone" is an audiobook that will stay with you long after the final chapter.

The author has delivered a fast paced and deliciously wicked tale. The characters are well rounded and come across as believable, whether you love them or hate them. Full of twists and turns, it will keep you on the edge of your seat from the first page, trying to anticipate where this story will go. A surprising twist at the end to give the story a very satisfying end.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio who provided me with a copy of this book. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Imagine going on a holiday to meet your husband and children and realise pretty quickly that not only are they not there, but have disappeared into thin air. This is Mel’s nightmare.

I can’t say too much about the plot without giving too much away. What I can say is this is one twisty, unputdownable domestic drama. I honestly could not put it down. Hasall defiantly knows how to keep her readers on the edge of their seats.

Jam packed full of clever twists, secrets and subterfuge, it’s a page turner. The audio was brilliantly narrated with perfect inflection. Highly recommended as an audiobook.

The first half of the book was pretty slow paced dull and i wanted to quit but glad i didn't cause it picked up the pace in the latter half and things escalated quickly then
Also the narrator of the audiobook did a really good job
Also i appreciate the refreshing take of author's to try and write a story from a male pov who has been a victim of abuse
All in all a solid 3 star for me

**Holy plot twists, Batman!** "Love You Gone" by Rona Halsall is a wild rollercoaster ride that had me questioning everyone and everything. Mel's arrival at the Lake District cabin for a family vacation takes a chilling turn when she finds them missing, leaving behind a cryptic note about a walk. As the hours tick by, the story unravels through dual timelines and perspectives, twisting my loyalties like pretzels. Who can you trust when reality itself seems unreliable?

The audiobook narration by Tamsin Kennard is absolutely phenomenal. As a non-UK native, I always appreciate a regional accent that adds depth and authenticity to the story. Tamsin delivers a layered performance, capturing the desperation, suspicion, and underlying darkness that permeate the narrative.

While the plot is undeniably gripping, I must emphasize the need for a trigger warning for abuse. Halsall doesn't shy away from portraying the raw and disturbing realities of domestic violence, which could be upsetting for some listeners.

Overall, "Love You Gone" is a satisfyingly twisted and disturbing thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end. Just be prepared for a bumpy ride, and maybe have some tissues handy.

**4 out of 5 stars**

***Big thank you to Bookouture Audio for my gifted copy of this book, all opinions are my own.***

This psychological thriller is about the unexpected loss of family. The main character has no idea what happened to her family, if they got lost, if someone took them. This story messes with our heads. the secrets are so unreal that you don't want to let go until you know the whole truth.

Another absolute blinder from Rona Halsall, I’ll be making a point of working my way through her back catalogue next year.

A twisty turny jam packed domestic thriller that had me utterly gripped throughout. Loved it, the narration was excellent an easy 4 star 🌟 review. An absolute pleasure for what is most likely my final book of the year.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the opportunity to l listen to this audiobook in return for an honest review.
