This was a fun historical romance. I enjoyed seeing Rick and Edwina's trip to a HEA.
While the book could have done more with building their chemistry and dialing down some of the antics, it was overall a fun read.

Thanks to St Martin's Press and NetGalley for the ARC.

5 Who’s Secret Is Bigger Stars!!

This is the second book in this wonderful series by Amelia Grey and I loved Edwina and Rick so very much. They’re two people on a mission so to speak but they’ve got their own reasons for seeking out a marriage of convenience. What neither of them was expecting though was the visceral attraction they had to each other the day Edwina shows up on his doorstep to accept his marriage proposal!

Our H/h are well matched and I loved their repartee that had me laughing at some points in the book. Edwina is a woman that will do whatever is necessary to get her two sisters introduced into society as all young women of marriageable age should be… but is there that she’s hiding from him and why she’s so insistent on accepting his proffered marriage proposal? This woman can bring something new into Rick’s life but is he willing to risk his heart which he never expected to happen especially given the health secret he’s keeping to himself for the time being.

This book moved at a great pace and I found myself falling more in love with these two the further I read. We also get some visits from Fredericka and Wyatt which just enhanced my enjoyment of this book! Ms. Grey did a wonderful job writing a story that is filled with all the things I love about this time period, the wealth and haughtiness of the Ton, traditions that shouldn’t be messed with, families that are driven by what society deems acceptable and of course love that’s never expected but welcomed when found. I’m so ready for Love, the Duke.

Once again Rick, the Duke of Stonerick, is suffering from a fever. His mother is pressuring him to marry to the extent she has a list of suitable young ladies for him to choose from. As he is still unwell, drinking, and realizing he needs an heir, he selects Edwina Fine from the list and pens a note asking her to marry him. She promised her father she would find a husband for herself as well as her two sisters. As they are triplets and have red hair and green eyes, people had superstitions about the triplets, so they lived a remote life in the country. When she received the marriage proposal, she thought her problems were over. Watching these two find their attraction to each other leaves them both with challenges. A great story where Edwina and Rick found love and able to trust each other.

I was having a difficult time connecting to the writing in this novel from the get go. I was really intrigued by the premise of the novel, but could not help but feel the slight skepticism that Rick truly lucked out that the one name he happened to land on to write ended up belonging to an extremely beautiful woman that he was instantly attracted to. It might have been more intriguing to me as a reader if Edwina had not in fact been an absolutely beautiful.

I did like that Rick was truthful in how his actions could be construed as impatient/demanding. And I liked that through his honesty, he was able to see how his actions effected Edwina and he tried to adjust his behaviour for her. I enjoyed on the wedding night that after his initial moment of frustration, his reaction to her fear of what was supposed to happen, he decided he needed to woo his wife and set forth doing so.

I wanted to like Edwina more than I did. I liked her determination and the moments where she felt strength when she was overwhelmed. And even when the reader finds out the reason behind her determination to fulfill her father's wise, I still didn't find myself connecting with her.

Rick's friend group was one of the biggest draws to me. I enjoyed the moments where we got to see his interaction with them and their interactions with Edwina. I know that superstition played (and still does play) in a lot of cultures, I just found that the premise behind Edwina being a triplet as well as having red hair and green eyes was almost a bit too far fetched. I did like how much Rick rallied around her as well as his friends when it was brought to their attention in a public setting.

All in all Sincerely, The Duke had an intriguing premise, but if I had not purchased the audiobook on release day even after having received an eARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review, I do not believe I would have finished the book after 20%. The narrator chosen was a great one and she did a great job of being one of the few things that kept me connected to the story.

If you are a true fan of regency romance, I'm sure Amelia Grey's book already have a dedicated place on your bookshelf. I have been anticipating this newest release ever since I read Yours Truly, Duke in March 2023 and it didn't disappoint. It's sweet and charming, heartwarming and exciting at the same time, and, above all, entertaining..
It starts with one of the most ridiculous proposals ever-our lovely male protagonist, who we are repeatedly being told isn't a paragon of patience, is suffering from an unexpected bout of high fever. He is implored by his mother to choose his future bride and marry as soon as possible to ensure the dukedom succession (my dear regency romance reader, we are more than familiar with this all too frequent predicament that seemed to inflict only the most lovable, most roguish dukes). He happily forgets this fateful conversation with his mother, until a certain Miss Edwina Fine shows up on his step. The young lady isn't just someone he is immediately and inexplicably attracted to, she is someone who claims to have received a letter of proposal from his Grace himself....and the letter turns out to be genuine.
Miss Edwina is in a need of a husband or rather three husbands. She promised it to her dying father that she would find suitable fiances for herself and her older sisters before the end of the season. Her real predicament isn't even the fact that having lived most of her life in a quiet, remote part of Yorkshire, Miss Edwina isn't exactly familiar with the society. Her biggest fear is that even if Duke of Stonerick decides to go through with his proposal, which would throw her sisters in the path of many eligible bachelors, one particular superstition that directly affects Fine sisters might scare the potential husbands off- namely the fact that they are triplets and as if this wasn't enough, all of them have red hair and green eyes.
Amelia Grey's writing flows so easily and draws you into this fun story with its extremely likeable protagonists. I loved the way Rick and Edwina get to know each slowly and develop what already started as a very strong attraction into something even more romantic- a real connection that some of us call true love.
Looking forward to reading Amelia Grey's next book!

After not feeling well and being harassed again by his mother, Rick finds himself proposing-by letter-to someone he’s never met. Enter Edwina, who decides to accept his proposal. She also just happens to be a triplet—which was incredibly rare for that time, & came with unbelievable superstitions about that, so she keeps it a secret. Rick also keeps his illness a secret. Do we see the conflicts that are going to happen? I liked the characters the best…..the story itself was ok, the conflicts seemed kind of silly to me, but liking the characters made up for it.

Miss Edwina Fine really needs a husband, and not just one actually, but three. Her father’s dying wish was for her and her two sisters to get married because he had some bananas idea that no one wanted to marry triplets. Not only are they triplets, but they all have red hair and green eyes, which is bad I guess? Superstitions are weird AF.

Luckily for Edwina, she receives a letter out of the blue from the Duke of Stonerick that very simply asks her if she wants to marry him. What she doesn’t know is that he wrote her that letter when he had a splitting headache and was drunk. He was trying to get his mother to leave him alone, so he wrote a letter as a joke.

Is this premise ridiculous? Absolutely, but so much Romance begins with a ridiculous premise. My only wish is that Edwina stopped protesting for so long. She and Stonerick definitely had chemistry from the very beginning, and he was always willing to do whatever she needed, including finding husbands for her sisters. After a while, the thing keeping them apart seemed a bit over the top. Still, there were sweet moments between Edwina and Stonerick, and if you like Regency, this one has at least an interesting set-up.

Thank you NetGalley for the digital ARC of this book.

I love historical romance stories, and trilogies are a special favorite. Author Amelia Grey writes some of the best, and Sincerely, The Duke is a shining example. In Book 2 of the author’s Say I Do series, we have another duke who needs to save his title or wealth or property or produce an heir, and a delightfully unusual and independent woman who will keep him on his toes. In this case Rick, Duke of Stonerick and Miss Edwina Fine are that couple.

Rick has no interest whatsoever in being married, but his mother is very, very insistent and he’s been plagued recently by a recurring illness and finally acknowledges to himself that maybe he better go ahead and secure that heir He keeps his illness a secret but does rather cavalierly – and not at all sincerely - dash off a letter that basically says, “Will you marry me? Sincerely, The Duke of Stonerick” and tells his mother she can send it to the woman he random picked off her list of eligible candidates.

Edwina made a promise to her father on his deathbed: she would do whatever it took to ensure she and her two sisters are married before the end of the Season, whether her sisters wish to be married or not. You might think sounds simple or what’s the big deal, but Edwina and her sisters are triplets, with red hair and green eyes – oh no! Bad luck, spells, not welcome in society. After their mother died their father kept them effectively hidden. Edwina takes her promise very seriously, even if the red hair/green eyes thing sounds a bit wacky to us.

Well, wouldn’t you know that Rick’s letter somehow does get mailed – to Edwina – who promptly shows up on his doorstep to accept in person. He did in fact sign his name to that letter so being a gentleman means he needs to honor it. Funny thing (that gets funnier and funnier in this charming story) is that this duke who doesn’t see the point in marriage is immediately smitten with this woman. And Edwina – opinionated but inexperienced and unassuming – is smitten right back.

Rick and Edwina are hilarious together. He’s forceful yet tender, but secretive. She doesn’t “exactly” lie but doesn’t “exactly” tell him she’s a triplet because there are so many superstitious people out there, including his mother, and she really needs this marriage to happen. And wants it, too. They spar and argue, wonder about the undeniable attraction and heat, and are drawn to each other as if in a magnetic field.

Sincerely, The Duke is sweet, steamy, silly and extremely satisfying. Everything you want in an historical romance, everything you’ve come to expect from author Grey, and every bit as good as the first book in the series. I can’t wait for the third book in the trilogy.

Thanks to St. Martin’s Press for providing an advance copy of Sincerely, The Duke via NetGalley. I recommend it without hesitation and voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.

COMMENTS/NOTES: I loved the premise of this book with the superstition surrounding the sisters. They all have red hair and green eyes, thought by some to be a cursed mark. Edwina tried hard to help her sisters fit into the ton, but they didn't need or want to be bothered with fitting in. Rick had to talk her out of fulfilling her father's promise because her sisters did not want to get married. FYI, I didn't read Book #1 Yours Truly, The Duke and had no problem following along.

Sincerely, The Duke is the second book in the Say I Do series. This book is a real slow burner. The beginning is slower than I expect from this author but the ending was stronger. Edwina Fine is in London to search for husband to uphold her promise to her father. Red headed and green eyed and one of the only set of triplets known to survive, superstition has plagued her and her sisters’ lives. A letter of proposal from a Duke seems the answer to her prayers if she can keep her birth a secret. Rick, Duke of Stonerick is afflicted by a mysterious fever (clearly malaria) and fears for his life. Needing an heir, Rick picks a name from a list in a drunken stupor and sends off a proposal. Lust at first sight gives Rick and Edwina more to build a marriage on than most marriages of convenience. In a slow drawn out engagement, Rick and Edwina find love and begin the pursuit of finding husbands for her sisters. Their secrets cause predictable problems but love wins out for a much needed HEA. I enjoyed the characters but I wished the story moved faster. I would read the next in the series when it comes out even though this one wasn’t as strong as the first. My voluntary, unbiased, and non-mandatory review is based upon a review copy from NetGalley.

I really like the characters in this series. Rick and Edwina don't know they have been waiting for each other, but when they meet, it seems they have both found a home. Rick is pretty much a loner, except for a few good friends. He has his pursuits that keeps him busy, but he likes his alone time. He has been getting a terrible fever that has him concerned, and when his mother is on him about getting married, he just picks a name off a list and sends her a note. Edwina is a triplet. A very rare occurrence and some people think it is a bad omen. Add to it that they all have red hair and green eyes, their father decided to keep them hidden away from society. Now their father is gone, and it is up to Edwina to see that she and her sisters get married and are accepted into society. When Rick's proposal comes in the mail, Edwina thinks it is a sign and goes to meet her intended. Rick is immediately smitten but doesn't really remember asking her to marry him. He has decided that he should marry soon because of his fevers and promises Edwina he will take care of her and her sisters. Will society find out they are triplets and if they do, will they be accepted? Will Rick and Edwina find love?

Final Score - 4.5 Stars!

Since I received the first book of the series via Netgalley, I was extremely happy to have been approved to to receive this one as well. I love reading a good series! This one totally lived up to 1st book.

This is the second book in the Say I Do series and centers on Roderick Cosworth, the Duke of Stonerick, or Rick as he is known. He's determined to marry by running his finger along a list of potential brides given to him by his mother. Huh? Oh Rick ... you lazy boy! He definitely met his match in Edwina Fine. Not only is shocked when she receives a proposal by mail from a Duke, but then she follows thru on the engagement. Again, HUH? Who are these people?! Her reasons are heart tugging (as she's fulfilling her father's dying wish).

The story develops a bit slow for me, but catches up in pace toward the middle to the end. I adored it. Rick and Edwina killed it with their magnetic attraction, but what sold them as a couple was taking the time to learn about each other's likes and good qualities, but keeping those secrets! Match made in heaven.

I can't wait for Hurst's story next!

Roderick "Rick" Cosworth, the Duke of Stonerick enjoys his bachelor style of living. If it weren't for the headaches he keeps getting, he would continue life just the way it is....except his mother wants an heir so their family doesn't lose the dukedom. When Rick's mother presents him with a list of eligible ladies of the ton, he sarcasticly picks out a name blindly...Miss Edwina Fine, and even writes a letter asking for hand in marriage. Unbeknownst to Rick, the letter gets mailed and soon Miss Fine along with her Aunt Pauline are knocking on his door. Edwina thinks the Duke's proposal is the answer to her prayers. She just doesn't know if the letter is real or someone playing a joke on her. When the Duke acknowleges the letter is his signature but he's not sure how the letter was made, he decides to honor the offer anyways. Something about Edwina sparks his curiosity. Edwina says she will agree to his offer, only if he agrees to help her find suitable men for both of her sisters, Eileen and Eleonora. What Rick doesn't know is that the sisters are actually triplets!

Married life is going well and soon Rick realizes that his marriage of convenience may actually be more of a real marriage. Just when it seems that life is going perfectly, the past comes back to haunt Rick and Edwina. Everything explodes, but in the end these two do find their happy ever after.

I really enjoyed this marriage of convenience story. I just adored Edwina. She was a feisty little thing. I loved how she brought out a better side to Rick. It was fun to watch Rick come to the realization that Edwina was perfect for him. This book was a fun addition to this enjoyable series.

Such a fun book! I loved how the Duke proposed and that Edwina is part of triplets. They were both things I've not encountered in a historical romance before and they added unique layers to the story. I enjoy books where there are secrets between the couple because I'm anticipating what will occur when those secrets are revealed so that was great to read as well. All the characters were very entertaining. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

I enjoyed the story of Edwina Fine and Rick, the Duke of Stonerick. They meet after Rick, tired of his mother's frequent attempts to encourage him to marry, pens a proposal note to Edwina after he randomly chooses her name on a list his mother's secretary had drawn up. Edwina and her aunt, Pauline arrive at Rick's doorstep to question the authenticity of the proposal she received. After they decide to go through with the marriage, Rick agrees to assist Edwina in finding grooms for her two older siblings. Sincerely, the Duke is a fantastic read of finding love and developing trust when both Edwina and Rick have never had much experience with it. The storyline was well written, clever and original.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving a response.

Really enjoyed this historical romance. It was interesting for Edwina to be a triplet and how this was not common during this time period. Also them having red hair and green eyes being thought of as not ideal was crazy. Edwina is a plucky heroine with a lot of grit and spunk. She is determined to go through with her oath to her father and see that she and her sisters are married by the end of the Season and accepted by society. She gets an unexpected chance when she receives a marriage proposal from the Duke of Stonerick. She goes to his house to make sure the proposal is real and the rest of their story is well worth the read. Highly recommend this one!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for advanced copy, and I give my review freely

Another great book in the “Say I Do” series. This book centers on Roderick, the Duke of Stonerick, who has been experiencing recent ill moments that have him caving to the long-standing demands of his mother to marry ( although I’m sure she never expected him to choose a bride in such a way). After receiving the strangest marriage request by someone she’s never met, and a Duke no less, Edwina decides to take matters in her own hands to verify the truth of the situation. Their initial meet is not quite what either expected, but their attraction to each other is almost instantaneous and not wholly due to appearance. Unfortunately, both are keeping secrets which could have this romance fizzling before in starts. This is a nice, sweet, historical romance with plenty of humor thrown in ( I can’t decide if my favorite anecdote is the dowager duchess’s reading selection or the advice from the maid for Edwina). For those who’ve read book one (which is not necessary to enjoy this book but I do recommend), you’ll be happy to note there are many familiar characters. I consider this to be a soft romance with plenty of attraction between the leads but more funny moments that steamy bedroom scenes, and with many lovable characters, not limited to the main two. My only complaint is that the end seemed a bit rushed, although the epilogue was great. Thank you to the author, St Martin’s publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. All thoughts are my own. 4.5 stars

Edwina and Rick married under unusual circumstances. And they continue to hide something from each other, regardless of their growing love for one another. The secondary characters are also important to the story. I found the book to be just so so.
