This is going to be a dual review for The Playboy by Marni Mann, because I was fortunate enough to read the ebook and listen to the audiobook.
I was so excited to see who Macon was going to end up with, and suffice to say that Brooklyn was a fantastic match for him! She wasn’t going to immediately bend to him and his wants/needs, but when she finally did, boy oh boy was it hot! And I loved that Macon completely embraced his attraction to Brooklyn and gladly took the ribbing from family.
This book definitely gave off Blue Crush vibes which I loved, and while both characters had their secrets, I totally understood why and empathized with them both.
The audiobook version, narrated by Tor Thom and Savannah Peachwood, was definitely even more enjoyable after reading the ebook! Tor Thom, your voice is so deep and so divine. Whew. Haha. And Savannah, you did an amazing job bringing Brooklyn to life.
No 3rd act breakup, and cannot wait for the next book in the series!

Oh, this book! What an incredible story. Was it hot and spicy… Yes!
Was it too much spice for me… Yes!
But did I absolutely love this book… Yes!
Macon and Brooklyn, gosh their relationship. Hot then cold, they pushed and pulled, but…Macon. The playboy Macon started out at to the absolute perfect boyfriend, he became. Yes, please!
The narrators made the characters come to life. You could even hear the attraction in their voices. I loved their performance.

Macon and Brooklyn's story is a great start to this new series. I loved that we got to see all of the Dalton boys in this one, too. We got to be reminded of how whipped they all are and I loved it! We got to see what Macon would eventually be a part of.
Brooklyn is a strong woman who has so much going on and has fought for everything she has. She is so independent. I wanted to scream at her at times to talk to Macon, but oh well. I loved watching her let her walls down and let Macon in.
I loved watching Macon fall for someone who didn't want to give him the time of day. Brooklyn was everything he didn't know he wanted.
Their chemistry is hot and their story is a good one. I loved this beginning for the series and I'm excited to see how the other brothers will fall!
The narrators did a great job bringing these characters to life. I loved listening to them. Great story!

I have learned:
- they are hot for each other
- she is a housekeeper
- they had sex twice
That's it. There is literally no plot worth mentioning that makes these characters remotely intetesting.

Hottie billionaire, Macon, lays eyes on Brooklyn while she is dancing at a Hawaiian night club one night && he becomes enthralled! One taste of her 🤭 is all it takes for the obsession to kick in. Brooklyn just wants an escape from her messy life.
The way Macon is completely goneee for Brooklyn 😍 && all her pleasure is all that matters to him 🥵 The spice in this one was soooo soo hot! Thank you Marni Mann && NetGalley for the audio ARC 💙 For my 🎧 ladies, The Playboy was so good!!

The narrators were great and the spice hit pretty much immediately. I enjoyed the banter back and forth between the two MCs.

I wanted to like this and I feel like if I had pushed further I might have. The Playboy was just a tad unbelievable for me when it came to the male perspective and voice.
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for my honest review in exchange for this advanced reader’s copy.

Billionaire romances >>>> anything.
Douche bag turned best boyfriend ever? That would be Macon. His relationship with Brooklyn; is so sweet… but like untraditional to the max 😂.
Also, the spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Overall, enjoyable read from Marni.

If the movie Blue Crush was an adult steamy book this would be it!! Except there is no surfing or pro athlete instead a swoon worthy billionaire that you will fall in love with! This was a quick fast paced- he falls first, spicy book. Macon who starts off grumpy, confident, typical playboy. His character seems rough at first as the story goes on more layers peel back and you see just how sweet, caring and obsessed he is with Brooklyn. He knows what he wants and gets what he wants. I really enjoyed the story of Brooklyn and Macon and how they fall for one another. I listened to the audiobook which is narrated by Savannah Peachwood and Tor Thom. Their voices elevated the characters perfectly. It was an easy listen and quick as the story unfolded. Many thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the digital review copy of this novel. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I really enjoyed this book. The audio was well done, I think both narrators did a fantastic job portraying the characters. The relationship growth throughout the book was well done. I loved reading about the playboy.

This is Book 1 of the Spade Hotel Series!!
I was lucky enough to receive as an ARC.
The Playboy introduces readers to Spade, a billionaire heir known for his playboy reputation, who finds himself captivated by a woman like never before.
The narrative unfolds as Spade, accustomed to a life of luxury and indulgence, encounters a mysterious woman in a club who sparks a desire he can't ignore. Mann skillfully captures the allure of the woman with her flowing hair, captivating smile, and a presence that resonates with Spade on a profound level.
The story delves into Spade's inner conflict as he navigates the unexpected challenge of pursuing someone who doesn't immediately succumb to his charm. The mysterious woman, here for the music rather than Spade's wealth or reputation, becomes a compelling enigma that fuels his desire and determination.
Mann weaves a tale of passion, desire, and the intoxicating pull of the unknown. The steamy encounter between Spade and the woman sets the stage for an obsession that lingers, driving Spade to pursue her against all odds.
As the narrative unfolds, the complexities of Spade's feelings and the unexpected twists add depth to the story. Mann explores the themes of attraction, pursuit, and the vulnerability that arises when someone challenges the established patterns of a playboy's life.
The Playboy promises a gripping journey of love, desire, and the transformative power of unexpected connections. Mann's storytelling skillfully navigates the dynamics of passion and obsession, creating a compelling narrative that keeps readers engaged from start to finish

I really enjoyed this audiobook. The story was spicy and bingeable and overall the audiobook was a great production!

I wanted to like this one but it just felt too easy. He fell for her so easily that it felt forced. I also didn’t love the tiny dancer piece, it felt super cheesy. It was steamy though and cute that the girl was so intent on working hard for what she got.
🌀Synopsis
Macon Spade is chronically single. Oh, he could have any woman he wants he just chooses not to. He uses them and lets them go. Until one night when he’s out for a bachelor party and he meets Brooklyn. He sees her dancing at a club and wants her bad. After he has her on their bus, he wants her again.
She keeps coming back to dance and he decides to track her down. He is adamant that he needs her and they start seeing more of each other. She’s keeping a secret from him though. He knows she’s a student but he doesn’t know that she cleans hotel rooms or his hotel room to be exact.
He’s still determined to have her and she’s just determined to succeed in her career with our without him.

I loved Macon and Brooklyn! This was a fun and spicy read. I loved watching Macon fall first and hard and enjoyed watching Brooklyn struggle to put up a fight against her feelings. The chemistry was explosive and I loved watching their relationship evolve. I also loved all of the cameos from his brothers and the Daltons! The audio was top notch too - Savannah Peachwood and Tor Thom did an amazing job. Highly recommend for lovers of super steamy romance!

Honestly, this was a really spicy, decent audiobook but at times I found the narrator hard to understand. I feel like I’d like the actual book better.

Absolutely loved this super spicy romance!! the audio version is perfect in every way and I highly recommend this!

This was my first time listening/reading Marni Mann, and this was a fun way to jump in. Hot billionaire who ends up losing it over a woman who really isn’t that into him…at first. But smexy times abound and hearts are ablaze in paradise 😍. And listening to Tor Thom is just yummy! and Savannah Peachwood also is great. I can’t wait to read more of this series

By 10% in, I was sweating.
By 25% in, I was panting.
By 50% in, I was a puddle of goo on the floor.
The Playboy proves, once again, why Marni Mann books always bump everything else on my TBR list down a few notches.
The audio was made even hotter with the impeccable narration of Savannah Peachwood and Tor Thom who brought the characters to life in a sexy way that gave us a small glimpse into the unwavering attraction these two have for one another.
I loved hearing character names from past books dropped throughout like little Easter eggs and know without a doubt that Macon has slotted a top spot on my book-boyfriend list of hierarchy.

I ADORED this book! A spinoff of the Dalton Family series that I already obsessed over, I can tell that the Spade Hotel series is going to top it! The elements of the story that I loved I loved: reformed playboy/fiercely independent FMC, opposites attract, he falls first, billionaire, and a beautiful setting. I repeat HE FALLS FIRST. He swore off relationships because of his past but when he sees her letting off steam in a club one night, he obsesses over her. Meanwhile she puts up her barriers because she just wants to keep her head down and focus on her success. When they do come together, their chemistry is amazing and their banter is so fun! Macon and Brooklyn are *chef's kiss*. I can't wait to see where the rest of the series takes us!
Additionally, the narration was wonderful. Savannah Peachwood and Tor Thom really brought the story to life!

Macon Spade is absolutely swoon-worthy, and every woman should have one in their life. At least, they should have the Macon he is from the time he finds Brooklyn. Speaking of, I can't be the only woman who was cheering Brooklyn on as she made Macon work for every morsel of time and information. Talk about turning the tables. Their romance moved really fast, but it just worked for Macon and Brooklyn, and I really enjoyed their journey. I also enjoyed that every single glitch in the relationship didn't send them running in opposite directions. The angst was relatively low for almost 400 pages, or about 10 hours listening time, but the story didn't feel slow at all, in my opinion, and I didn't notice any lag times as I listened. Tor Thom and Savannah Peachwood give voice to the characters, and as always, they did an excellent job with the narration. From the very first bit of arrogance in Macon to the stress that Brooklyn feels as she works to achieve her dreams, and from the steamy goodness to the feels as this pair falls in love, it all comes through wonderfully in the narration. I don't think Marni Mann could've put her book in more capable hands, and I completely enjoyed the story and those chosen to bring it to life. I can't wait to see what's next for Spade Hotel.
