** Thank you so much to NetGalley and Revell Publishing for an ARC of this book! These thoughts are entirely my own.**

To be completely honest, this book put me in a reading slump. I didn’t have time to finish it, but here are the thoughts I have from what I did read. The characters were fine. I didn’t really care about them, which is a big reason I stopped reading it. I didn’t care what happened to them or about their relationships.

The plot also wasn’t moving forward as quickly as I needed it to for me to stay engaged. Once again, it was a fine plot, but too slow for me. The writing style was also fine, but again, it wasn’t so wonderful that I wanted to keep reading.

The book was just fine, but I was looking for something better.

This book took me back to the amazing state of Alaska and the harrowing journey of Nolan and Ivy. The mystery and suspense were on every page and kept me guessing until the end on how all of the pieces fit together.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.

Hidden in the Night is a suspenseful romance full of action set in a small town in Alaska.

The story follows Ivy Elliott, a former FBI special agent-turned-rare book collector... At the request of her mother, suffering from cancer, she goes to Alaska, intending to secure an unpublished manuscript that has been hidden for many years. However, upon arrival, she discovers that the manuscript has been taken by the granddaughter of the woman who had owned it, and now the girl is missing. Ivy embarks on a pursuit to retrieve the manuscript and also to rescue the young girl, who was a victim of trafficking. Ivy has reconnected with Nolan, an Alaska State Trooper whom she had met months earlier and felt a connection with. They will join forces to search for the missing girl... Eventually, they will find themself thrust into the middle of extreme weather conditions, and constantly evolving threats from unknown enemies.

I loved seeing characters from previous books... this book is part of a series that can be read as a stand-alone. I would still recommend reading the previous books to know the returning characters. This clean romantic suspense novel is action-packed, and fast-paced, with a light faith thread running through it. It is full of twists and turns that you never see coming. The characters are great, and the setting is so amazing that it feels like a character in its own right...Releases on June 4

I’ve been following this series and I’ve been hoping since book one that Nolan would get his own HEA. I did feel like I was missing part of the story with this book as our mains had a big interaction rescue previously but it’s not in the other books. It’s briefly hinted at a few times. That aside, I really like this book. A missing girl and a missing manuscript are woven into a large and questioning web of mystery and intrigue.

This romance has tones of second chance and forced proximity. It also has some of a slow burn feel as the communication and vulnerability isn’t always top notch.

I liked having previous book’s main characters return and be front characters here.

The dangers of Alaska and the bush. Winter storms, machinery malfunctions, and so much more.

I’m excited to read more from this author.

I received an eARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I loved being reunited with old friends, as we return to Alaska, and another great Christian Suspense read!

This time we are spending a good amount of time with Autumn's brother Alaska State Trooper Nolan Long, and the women he is attracted to Ivy Elliott.

Ivy, whom resides in Florida has been tasked to acquire an unplublished Jack London manuscript. What a journey you are about to begin as those who want this secret document, and they don't care whom is hurt or killed.

Follow Ivy and Nolan as the quest is met with danger at each turn, will they make it out alive?

Be sure to read the author's notes about Jack London, very interesting!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review.

I really enjoyed this book! The plot takes several twists and turns, which kept me hooked to the pages. The idea of looking for an unpublished manuscript by a famous author, was very original; it seems like there aren't any new ideas, but then authors like this come up with one which is great!

The only thing that I didn't like was the fact that the two main characters took way too much time fretting about how the other person felt about them looking for clues in every conversation. They knew each other before--so honestly, it would have been better if this was the first time they met, or one of them stepped up and asked if the other wanted to pursue a relationship. That part really dragged for me.

Overall 4 stars.

Ivy is a former FBI agent and has come to Alaska to find a manuscript her father was looking for before he died. Now her mother is sick and wants to honor her deceased husband by finding the manuscript so she sends Ivy to Alaska to try and find it. While looking for said manuscript Ivy finds that the woman who had it. But when she gets there she finds that the woman's granddaughter has taken it and now she has disappeared. Is it fowl play or does the young girl just not want her grand mother giving the manuscript away. To top it all off the one man she can not get out of her mind Jack London is the State Trooper that ends up helping now they have stumbled into something sinister and may be running for their lives.

I absolutely recommend this book for lovers of all things Alaska, and romantic suspense with twists you never see coming. This book had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out how each incident tied into the next. I couldn’t put it down.

Ivy is in Alaska to find a lost manuscript for her mother. She arrives just in time to find a dying man and be drawn into the search for his missing niece. She may be over her head when she comes face to face with the Alaska State Trooper who won a piece of her heart when she was here before. If only Alaska wasn’t so far from Florida she might take a chance.

Nolan was planning a trip to Florida to see Ivy, the woman he can’t forget. He’s shocked to find her in Shadow Gap. With danger all around, no connecting clues, and unknown assailants this might not be the best time for a second chance, but he wants one. His first priority must be to keep her safe and figure out what’s been going on.

As a former, long time Alaska resident I love how the characters’ lives tie together, a great depiction of life in small isolated Alaskan towns. The challenges of the climate are realistic and give a glimpse into life in the northern frontier. The author spins a tail placing me right in the middle of the action, at the same time experiencing heart pounding fear, worry, and hope. The faith of the characters along with their flaws encourages me to stay the course. Great book!

I was given a copy courtesy of Revell. This is my honest opinion of the book.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

Ivy returns to Alaska to purchase a manuscript but little did she know the trouble this manuscript would cause her. Never did she guess she would see Nolan again under these intense circumstances.

Nolan, a State Trooper, will do anything to protect Ivy when trouble comes to Alaska but will they solve everything and still be alive to tell it? Gold, a manuscript and lives are on the line.

Great intense read and definitely one I will be recommending!

Missing in Alaska book #3

Set in picturesque Alaska “Hidden in the Night” is the final chapter in a captivating series although I am certain Ms. Goddard will have more wonderful stories to give us soon. The story bring former FBI special agent and book collector Ivy Elliot to this cold part of the earth to secure an unpublished Jack London manuscript that was kept hidden for decades....but the manuscript is gone taken by the granddaughter of the woman who possessed it...Joining force with State trooper Nolan Long, they battle the worst of winter as the search goes on for the missing girl and the manuscript.

The story is filled with suspense, murder, blackmail and little sparkles in our lovebirds’ eyes what is not to keep flipping page to see the outcome. As usual I was hooked from the start and really enjoyed this clean, romantic suspense with a good outcome. Mr. Goddard style is fluid, the narration is vivid and she gives us a plot that is suspensive tense and fast-paced but most of all we have wonderful and warm characters to follow. If you don’t mind some Scripture passages along the way you will enjoy this story at its fullest.

In a few words, this story is a breathtaking race for the truth set amid the glorious and deadly Glacier Bay.

.This is the way I see it.

Hidden in the Night
by Elizabeth Goddard
Pub Date: June 4, 2024
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
At the behest of her ailing mother, former FBI special agent turned rare-book collector Ivy Elliott arrives in Alaska to secure an unpublished Jack London manuscript kept secreted away for decades. But when she arrives, she learns the manuscript is gone--taken by the granddaughter of the woman who possessed it. Ivy sets off in pursuit, not just to save the manuscript but to save the vulnerable girl, who was previously trafficked and has no idea what she's getting herself into.
Of all the books I've read that are going to be published in June, this is my favorite.
If you enjoy clean, romantic suspense, Elizabeth Goddard’s books are for you.
This is a wild ride as Nolan and Ivy join up to find missing Danna, as well as the manuscript. The situations that befall them are inconceivable and chilling. The cast of characters range from relatable and trustworthy to corrupt and reprehensible. There are many twists and turns, some romance as well as surprises. READ this one as soon as you can!!

Hidden in the Night is the third novel in the excellent Missing in Alaska series. Like the others, this one works as a standalone too.

Do I really need to say ‘missing Jack London manuscript’, ‘rekindled romance,’ or ‘multiple attempts on their lives’ before you go buy a copy? This book is a doozy. Seriously now. Former FBI Agent Ivy Elliot is in Alaska on the hunt for a lost Jack London manuscript. Almost as soon as she steps off the plane, events take a turn. Before long there’s a body count and she’s barely staying a half step ahead of the killers.

Alaskan State Trooper Nolan Long is about ready to board a plane to Florida and track down the woman who captured his heart and still has it. But before he leaves he’s called to a crime scene and finds Ivy Elliot there. What on earth? As the two team up to track down a missing girl, they face sabotage, blizzards and unknown assailants, all while battling their mutual attraction, because how does a relationship survive the distance between their home states?

As ever with an Elizabeth Goddard novel, you feel like you’re taking every chilly step with the characters. I love how vividly the surroundings and strange quirks of surviving the Alaskan landscape are described. They’re a real highlight for me, along with the page turning suspense and gentle romance.

I received a copy of Hidden in the Night from the publisher via NetGalley. The admiration of the author is all my own.

Author Elizabeth Goddard’s romantic suspense, “Hidden In The Night”, is set in Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska and is a tension-filled story focused on loss.

Goddard capitalizes on the fact that Alaska is commonly referred to as ‘the land of the lost’ and centers her story around a missing and unpublished Jack London manuscript. She’s crafted a female main character who’s given up her FBI career (and feels the loss) to care for a sick parent and who is also plagued by the loss of a younger sibling. Goddard’s male main character feels lost in his career as a State Trooper, also experiences guilt at the loss of a victim relying on him, and feels the loss of ‘the love of his life’ walking out of his life without realizing what she meant to him. Supporting the main story and characters, is a lost and vulnerable girl (and relative believed in possession of the manuscript) who was previously trafficked, a lost research scientist, and a lost man in a remote cabin in the Alaskan wilderness.

This race against time to locate a missing manuscript and find locals lost in the Alaskan wilderness during winter kept me glued to the pages.

You’ll also get:

✔️a great range of characters, lots of twists, a hint of romance and faith
✔️tension filled plot dealing with a curse, sabotage, and deadly pathogens
✔️emotional impact of a mother undergoing chemo and separated from a daughter
✔️a fantastic setting: Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve
✔️a character questioning why things unfold the way they do
✔️prompted to question where we go for help when we are at the end of our rope
✔️a lesson on how a missing person in Alaska is everyone’s business and the search belongs to everyone
✔️themes of fearing the unknown, loss of control, survivor’s guilt
✔️a lesson on ASARD - Alaska Search and Rescue Dogs
✔️an opportunity to go aboard the RV Nautilus and 115ft steel research vessel
✔️an chance to learn about NOORI - National Ocean Observation Research Initiative
✔️an opportunity to go aboard an Alaska Marine Highway Ferry
✔️a chance to learn about gap winds, blizzards and Alaskan weather

Providence has thrown Sunshine Girl Ivy Elliott and Alaska State Trooper Nolan Long together again. Will the circumstances give them a chance to connect or pull them apart for good?

I was sad to finish this last book in the series. Alaska holds a special place in my heart.

I was gifted this copy by Revell and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.
