This book centers around a real woman, Daisy Harrington, the US minister to Norway in 1940 and her fictional goddaughter, Cleo. The action takes place in the early days of World War II as the Germans invade neutral Norway. The Norwegians resist. The royal family goes into exile or hiding. The US is involved, the minister is deeply involved, staying close to the Royal family as they run.
