'The Dress in the Window' by Robert Tregoning sadly fell flat for me. While the book aims to celebrate individuality and acceptance, it felt overly simplistic and lacked depth, even for a children's book. The narrative was repetitive and the messaging was delivered in a heavy-handed way that left little room for imagination or nuance. The illustrations were pleasant but couldn’t compensate for the underwhelming story. It’s a well-meaning attempt, but ultimately, it comes off as more preachy than powerful. In addition, there must not be an encouragement of such a psychology by parents for the boy to behave like girl or vice-versa. We need society with purity of mindsets not with disturbed sense of behaviors.
