Thank you to NetGalley and Familius for the e-ARC to read and review. This is a lovely rhyming picture book filled with great illustrations and lots of fun historical/informational tidbits about some pretty incredible women! I think that younger readers would enjoy the rhyme in a read-aloud, but I have a 10-year-old reader in my life who would adore learning about all of the inspiring figures included in the book, and would be a great receiver of such an empowering message.

Incredibly charming picture book featuring women, particularly women of color. Equally adorable and inspiring.

This book uses rhyming text to present many STEM women employed in lots of different nontraditional occupations, rather than introducing a few of these women with long, boring (to a child, anyway) biographies. At the end of the book, each woman is mentioned again, along with a few words about her accomplishments. Then the child is encouraged to go back and look for each STEM heroine within the book. This is a good approach, I believe, as it encourages interest and curiosity about the subject matter. The illustrations by Anna Doherty are colorful and fun.

This is such a cute and empowering book. BRB gonna go look up all these steminists and learn more about them!

This book gives children a quick look at all the careers that women in stem can have which allows children to see that women can do whatever they want. The authors also give examples of actual women in these career fields that can be further researched if children are interested in them.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this book before publication.

I teach at a premier stem school and just went on a field trip with the 10 grade stem students. I love seeing more out there for and about women in stem, and I’m really happy that there is now a children’s book for this. My daughter has just started distinguishing between boys and girls and I want to make sure that she understands she can do anything she wants.

I love that historical steminists are featured in the book, as well as a short bio about each one. Some of them are familiar, but many of them are new to me. And the diversity in this book? Chefs kiss.

I am obsessed with this book! I cannot wait to buy a physical copy for my daughter.

I love how this book highlights the different careers in STEM and uses a little sentence to explain what they do, along with incredible women who excelled at doing it. This is a great book for not only young girls who are interested in STEM but all young girls to show them they really can do anything and all the possibilities there are. It could even encourage them to find a passion in one of these careers.

The illustrations were great, too. They showed diversity and inclusivity. They were bright and colourful and very well executed.

I think this is a must-have for all young girls!

This is a great book to prove to young girls you can be anything you want to be. I find it very meaningful in this day and age and for the younger generation. It has all the information in STEM careers. It covers everything form technology, writing, science, engineering and math. Each with a cute and colorful illustration. It also has a list of some of the leaders in different fields and short info on them. I think this would be a great book to open conversations on what fields a child would like to go into. This also a good book for younger children to help them see their options in life.

What an absolute delight it was to read this book! 9.5/10. I would highly recommend this to most parents, libraries, etc.

The good
1.. Absolutely wonderful illustrations. It was a pleasure for the eye to flip through this book and the illustrations on each page has been meticulously crafted. Absolutely wonderful. I am in love with this art style and kind of want to put it on my wall...
2. Busy and interesting pictures. Since it is a book that will be a big tricky for younger minds to read (see next section), it is very positive that the pages are so filled with different details and interesting storytelling on their own. You barely want to flip to the next page because there is so much interesting stuff to look at.
3. Highly educational content. Not only does the book show different options of how young girls can imagine themselves in STEM fields. It also mentions LOADS of important women throughout history who contributed to these fields. Both young children and adults can learn from reading this book and see all the names of the women listed throughout - and I loved the list of all of these historical women towards the end. It provides a great overview and makes it easy to investigate the specific individuals later on, if one is interested.
4. DIVERSITY. Love, love, love the diversity shown across the book. So great to see. Girls and women in different ages, colors, cuts, styles and appearences ranging between the masculine and the feminine. AND the diversity representation is there - just subtly in the background. Not a big deal at all. Love to see it.

The less good
1. My only true critique of the book is that it might be a bit too difficult a read for younger children. Some of the words and sentence structure in the book could be tricky and therefor a turnoff for young minds. If I were a parent, I would pick up this book and read it together/for my chid. That would allow them to ask questions about words and phrasings they don't understand.

I got this on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review!

This was a really nice picture book about women in stem and how women need to support each other and stand together! Loved the inclusion of real people and their names throughout the book where their field was featured! Wish maybe it included a bit more info on them, but do like the info in the back. Just wish there was MORE of if!

The rhyme was also well done, and the illustrations as well!

4.5⭐️

Thanks NetGalley and Familius for a copy to read and review!

Easy and fun chants guide you through different STEM fields, with female scientists at the helm! It's so fun, and the artwork looks like it will be really cute in print. I especially loved the breakdown list of all the people included throughout the book!

I would recommend it for any classroom, library, or home setting.

You know me, I love girls in STEM! This is a quick fun read that highlights a lot of women in STEM throughout history. It's not a biography or a history lesson, but it is a fun book told in rhyme with cute illustrations.

Plus it's a nice conversation started with the little ones.

A fantastic young reader book that highlights how women are just as valuable and talented in STEM careers as men are.

"A STEMinist Force" is a fun romp through women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) history. The story focuses on larger ideas and uses women STEMinsts as illustrations. A great start to anyone's women in STEM education and introducing your small human to the world.

A Steminist Force is a celebration of women in STEM from physicists to conservationists to writers, this book includes photos and background information on a ton of notable women from around the world. The illustrations in this book are gorgeous and I love how a there are so many illustrations of named famous women that acts as a reason for readers to go back throughout the book to find every woman on the list.
As an educator, this would be a great opening to a unit, especially during woman's history month, and start a research project or a small unit surrounding these women.

I loved this book. The illustrations were great and I liked, that all the scientists were named as well. The rhymes made reading really enjoyable. Everyone should give this a read, but especially all girls, who consider going into STEM and the women, who are already in it.

Yes! Yes! Yes! this is the book young girls NEED to have in their lives. What a great anthem to girl power and examples of women in STEM you have paved the way. There are so many options for that next required school project or biographical book report. Better, yet, get your boys this book, too, and teach them early to respect their smart female peers.

As a pharmacist, I only wish pharmacy was included in the book (this is now a female dominated STEM profession!), but overall such great examples and filled with diversity!

Thank you to NetGalley and Familius for the opportunity to read and review this advanced copy.
