One of those rare books that I actually enjoy the sequel more than the first book!
So intriguing to see where the lives of the main characters go and we get EVEN MORE background on just what makes them who they are today.

Pros:
As gripping and exciting as the first one!

Cons:
Not quite believable. I can’t believe how unlikeable most characters are, but you knew it would work out well in the end. Speaking of the ending - that was just out of left field - it was a way to wrap up the story, but didn’t really fit with the rest of the book.

3 stars/B-

This was a fun escapist read but I did not like it as much as the first book. Some of the plot elements were completely over the top and I struggled with the (at times) generic dialogue.

I didn’t find this one as gripping as The Last Mrs. Parrish because the characters were defined and developed in that book which lead the reader to be less surprised in the actions of them in this one. With that said, the book was still very enjoyable to read and there were twists that came unexpectedly. The chapters switch through character points of view which gave the reader a sense of multiple story-lines occurring which kept you engaged throughout.

Exciting sequel to the Next Mrs. Parrish! I would highly recommend reading the first book as well as the novella, First Shot before reading this one to get the full story and most fulfilling experience. But this can be read as a stand alone if necessary. In this story, Daphne finds herself trapped back in Jackson’s sick world but the stakes are even higher this time. Amber continues her evil, sociopathic ways. And Jackson, well let’s just say that “you reap what you sow” and I loved how this ended! Thank you Netgalley, Random House Publishing Ballantine and the authors for this eARC in exchange for my honest review. This book will be available for purchase on June 18, 2024

Even though I enjoyed the first book more, I still enjoyed this one a lot. It’s best to read “The first shot” to understand everything a lot more. I loved Daisy Ann’s character, but highly disliked both Jackson and Amber. Amber was such a unlikable character. The book was really good, some good twists, very entertaining, characters you will love or hate. I binged this in two days because I was really into the book and wanted to see how it would end. I’m glad the author gave the characters the endings that they each deserved. I highly recommend the book. 4.5/5 Rating

Jackson Parrish is being released from jail after tax fraud. Amber is still lingering around with their son, Jax. Daphne and her two daughters have moved far away from Jackson and are finally safe..until they’re not! Daphne’s daughter Tallulah insists on having her father in her life while she has no idea what he is capable of.

This book was great like the previous book—but even better! Jackson and Amber absolutely infuriated me, but that’s the whole point. The lying, gaslighting, manipulation, and scheming made for an interesting read. I loved the different character perspectives. In this book, we are introduced to a new character Daisy Anne. I greatly enjoyed her role in the storyline and how everything tied together in the end. Suspenseful and captivating, I was kept on the edge of my seat. SUCH a satisfying ending!

Thank you NetGalley and Bantam Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC. All opinions are my own.

I can’t say that I loved this book as much as the first book, It is a close second This book can also be read as a standalone, but I urge you to read The last Mrs.Parrish, if you haven’t already. This book is once again filled with characters that you will love to hate, twists and turns, and lots of entertainment. Daphne is the former Mrs. Parrish, hiding across country from her ex-husband and father of her two children. Amber, the current Mrs. Parrish is wanting OUT! Putting her master-plan into action, she’s set to leave Jackson behind but still maintain her lavish lifestyle. Jackson, is approaching his release from prison. He is ready to once again be King and take charge of his family and fortune. We meet Daisy Ann. Daisy Ann runs a famous jewelry line in which Amber is certain to take over. If you’re looking for a domestic suspense with secrets, backstabbing, conspiring/planning and shocking behaviors, this book is for you! There is also a novella THE FIRST SHOT that you can read first.

Liv Constantine has done it again!!! The Next Mrs. Parrish was just as brilliant as her previous book, The Last Mrs. Parrish.

There were so many twists & turns along the way. I can’t count the number of times I held my breath or gasped. I don’t want to give any spoilers away but this book gave me whiplash. Just when I thought things were going to go one way we did a sharp turn in the opposite direction.

I feel as though the book ended beautifully. Every storyline was wrapped up nice & neat. I appreciate that so much, especially when reading a series.

I will be thinking about this book for weeks to come.

This book drew me in from the start, just as the first book of this series did. Once again, I am impressed with Liv Constantine and her writing!

Loved this book and this author duo did these characters so well! The order I'd recommend reading these books are 1. The Last Mrs Parrish then 2. The First Shot novella, then 3. The Last Mrs. Parrish. The prequel novella will catch you up on all you need to know to enjoy this novel to the fullest.

Recap of the plot of this book: After her husband gets sent to prison for tax evasion, something she orchestrates herself, Amber is living life to the fullest but is running out of money. She's trying to find a new way to support herself before her husband is released and she can split before he comes back home. Her plan fails when Jackson is released early and she is caught red handed. Surprisingly she and Jackson join forces with an elaborate plan for him to get his first wife, Daphne, back by deceiving her trying to convince her he is a changed man so he can have the "perfect family" yet again.

In true fashion things don't go exactly as planned and Amber's, or should I say Lana's, past comes back to haunt her throwing a wrench into everything. I was cheering Daphne and Daisy Ann on but also found myself lost in the scheming of the villains in this book as well. Happy to report that I do feel like everyone got what they deserved in the end and the journey there was a wild ride.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group/Ballantine/Bantam for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange for my honest opinions. I loved the debut novel and after reading the following prequel novella to the series, The First Shot, I was so ready for the next installment of this series. The characters evolved even more and I was up until late in the night finishing this book.

say what you want about these books, but they are FUN.

fun fact, THE LAST MRS PARRISH was one of my favorite thrillers back when it released in 2017. (OMG i feel old now). i was delighted to hear they were making a sequel 7+ years later, i low key loved those toxic characters! their behavior was so shocking and i had my mouth dropped half the book.

fans of TLMP like me will be happy to hear THE NEXT MRS PARRISH gives nearly identical vibes of the toxic characters, cunning/gaslighting vibes and multiple POVs with everyone having secrets and looking out for themselves! it was so much fun being back in their world. the multiple POVs are a blast bc you don’t know who is playing who. and we get introduced to a new character here, Daisy Ann.

i’ll save more for my in depth review, but if you’re looking for a domestic suspense with secrets, backstabbing, conspiring/planning and shocking behaviors, this is for you! it was a really fun binge and i was really enjoying being back in Bishop Harbor.

sometimes the author’s writing style can be hit or miss for me but it was good here. some paragraphs are cringe but i think that’s more bc of the characters and their personalities/actions. also by no means in this review do i wish to glorify the gaslighting or mental/physical abuse in these books. please beware of trigger warnings there.

pro tip—while this story can be read as a standalone and the authors do a good job of reminding you on what happened in book 1 if you forgot, it’ll be a more enjoyable read if you read THE LAST MRS PARRISH first. there’s also a novella THE FIRST SHOT that you can read first but it’s not necessary (i personally didn’t enjoy that one at all).

full review (and maybe a giveaway 😏😏) to come closer to pub day on my IG! thanks to Randomhouse for the early gifted copy.

PS this ends in a way that the story could keep going with a book 3 👀👀👀

PSS im still waiting for more 🎬 news here!! maybe the sequel will give it a push 🤞🏼 it would play out so well on the big screen!

I liked this sequel better than the first book as the plot was more intricate with more players involved. It was satisfying to see the characters and how they ended up, and also learning more about the depravity of them all.

The Last Mrs Parrish is a book that I recommend to friends to this day, years after having read it. Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced readers copy of the sequel.
We pick up right where we left off, Jackson in federal prison, Daphne raising her daughters and Amber trying to find her next big pay day. The Next Mrs Parrish had my jaw on the floor with the constant twists. If you’re looking for a great, thrilling read, this is it!

The twists and turns are fun, but one thing I really struggled with, in the first book as well, is how misaligned the language of the characters is to their age, region, etc. The “Texas” slang is over the top and cheesy, and I just cannot see a 30-something year old saying “what in tarnation” or “colder than a bankers heart on foreclosure day” in a serious conversation. It was incredibly distracting, and I feel like some research could have helped here.

Love it! This sequel did not disappoint. The twists, the turns, and what happens in the end. Just when you think it's done. Highly recommend

Such a wild ride cringing at all of Amber’s antics and poor Daphne’s anguish!
I really loved getting to know Daisy Ann better!
Every page built up to a massive crescendo I did not see coming!

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group-Ballentine for this ARC copy of “The Next Mrs. Parish”

This one fell flat for me. The villains were beyond unrealistic & unfortunately Daphne also made some unrealistic choices. Although it was a quick and easy read, it was too far fetched.

While I enjoyed this story, I gave The Last Mrs. Parrish five stars a few years ago and I can't consciously give this one five stars, as well. So, therefore, four stars. It just wasn't the same! Amber and Jackson were just as wretched this time around. I absolutely LOVE what ended up happening to them. I thought it was so unique and unlike anything I'd read in another book. The addition of Daisy Ann from Amber's past was also really fun.

I HIGHLY recommend rereading the first one if it's been awhile. There were a few things I had to go back and look up because I couldn't remember the finer details. Just for reference I read the first one in January 2019 so it had been awhile!
