The Next Mrs. Parrish is a juicy, drama-filled follow-up to The Last Mrs. Parrish, but it doesn’t quite pack the same punch. The story moves quickly and has plenty of twists, but some feel a bit over-the-top or too convenient. Amber, who was so cunning and layered in the first book, feels more one-note here. She’s still manipulative and ruthless, but her actions start to feel repetitive, and we don’t get much new insight into what drives her. It’s like she’s stuck in villain mode with no real growth or complexity.
That said, it’s still fun to watch her schemes unfold, even if you’re rolling your eyes a little. The plot leans heavily into soap opera territory, which isn’t a bad thing if you’re in the mood for something dramatic and escapist. Overall, it’s entertaining and easy to fly through, but it doesn’t leave the same impression as the first round with the Parrishes.

Liv Constantine is back with another suspenseful tale in The Next Mrs. Parrish. Told through multiple perspectives, this sequel takes its time unraveling the layers of the story, leading to a compelling final reveal. If you enjoy a slow-burn thriller, this one is worth checking out.

Thank you Netgally for a copy in exchange for an honest review! I was stoked for the second novel of The Last Mrs. Parrish as I was obsessed! So many unpredictable twists, once again made for this just as exciting as the first!

I really enjoyed picking up the story.. I could not predict where it was going next! It was a quick read and I would definitely read the sequel.

The Next Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine had me hooked from the start, but I have to admit, I didn’t have the intense love for it that I expected. The suspense is definitely there, and the plot twists keep you on your toes, but I found myself struggling to connect with the three main characters.
Amber, Daphne, and the new character seeking revenge are all well-written, but I couldn’t help feeling like there was always something keeping me at arm’s length from fully empathizing with any of them. Amber’s manipulative nature makes her an interesting character, but her motivations often felt too calculated, making it hard to feel any real connection. Daphne, on the other hand, made choices throughout the book that just frustrated me to no end. I found myself wondering why she couldn’t see what was right in front of her, and it was hard not to get frustrated with her decisions, especially considering everything she’d already been through.
That said, I still enjoyed the book overall. It’s a very solid sequel and kept me turning pages, but I didn’t love it the way I hoped I would. The tension between the characters is compelling, and there are definitely moments of brilliance, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was waiting for something to make the story click for me emotionally. I appreciated the suspense and the darker themes of revenge and betrayal, but I couldn’t quite find myself deeply invested in the outcome.
All in all, The Next Mrs. Parrish is a strong follow-up to The Last Mrs. Parrish. It’s full of twists and turns, and while I didn’t love it, I definitely enjoyed it and found it to be a gripping read. If you loved the first book, you’ll likely enjoy this one too, but be prepared for a bit of frustration along the way, especially with Daphne’s choices.

Great second book! Wasn’t sure how the author would build off of the first book but the twists and turns caught me by surprise! Really enjoyed reading it.

I really wanted to enjoy this one but I felt like it just wasn't as great as great as the first. It just wasn't a win for me. I finished it but by the end I just didn't care that much about the characters. Unbelievable and I felt like right off the bat seemed unrealistic with the therapists advice to go to see her crazy ex husband and let her daughters spend time with him.

I didn’t really connect with any of the three main female characters and therefore didn’t really get into the book. The audiobook was well done and I enjoyed that there was multiple narrators.

The plot here was so well done, binge worthy for a book and very creative.
The ending was chef's kiss! I was completely satisfied. Love this author and this series!

Mystery/Suspense
In the sequel to Constantine's wildly successful novel The Last Mrs. Parrish, we see how Amber and Daphne's lives have now switched. Amber has become the next Mrs. Jackson Parrish. From the outside, her life is a dream, just like she thought Daphne's was when she schemed to replace her. She wants out, but Jackson won't let her go. She needs a new plan.
Daphne has escaped her life with Jackson and is living a quiet more secluded life with her daughters. When Jackson is released from prison one of the daughters runs away and insists on spending time with Jackson. Daphne has no choice but to agree to one summer, but once Jackson gets them near, he has nefarious plans for all of them.
It's hard not to get frustrated with Daphne's choices. I think this was a very solid sequel and I liked it, I just didn't love it.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC of this novel.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an advance readers copy! I enjoy this author and loved this book! The writing and storytelling kept me hooked and I couldn't put this down. Liv Constantine does an incredible job of building character development and keeping every chapter a page turner. A great series to dive into to, highly recommend!

I loved the first book in this series and the novella, and this one was no exception! The world of Daphne is so fun, twisted, and chaotic to jump into. It kept me engaged from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down. I hope they make more in this series!

I loved another book from this series once again. I read it so quickly. I can’t wait for another one.

Absolutely loved this book! The writing and storytelling kept me hooked and I couldn't put this down. Liv Constantine does an incredible job of building character development and keeping every chapter a page turner.
Highly recommend!

if you love domestic thriller and enjoy the housemaid series by Freida Mcfadden then I recommend this book!

Full transparency, I despised The Last Mrs. Parrish. I rated it one star. And the only reason I read the second installment in the series is because I was gifted the eARC.
With that being said, I am so glad I did end up reading this one because it is so much better than the first in the series. Daphne was stronger. She fought for her kids harder. Amber was still just as insufferable but she got what was coming for her, and so did Jackson which made for a pleasurable ending to this novel. It does end on a bit of a cliffhanger, so there is possibility of another book to the series but it’s resolved enough that I don’t feel angry at the cliffhanger. It created just enough intrigue.
I’m still not a HUGE fan of this series, and it’s more than likely due to the content of spousal abuse and manipulation as well as insufferable characters, however, there were some likeable characters and some strong, female, powerful moments which kept me invested. I’m not confident I would recommend this series because the first one was just that bad, but this one was so much better.

Following her divorce, Daphne and her two daughters have built a new life in California—about as far from Bishops Harbor as she could get. She’s focused on putting the pieces back together, creating a stable home for her girls, and finally moving on from Jackson Parrish’s suffocating grip. But when her oldest daughter, Tallulah, runs away from a class trip to D.C. in an attempt to see her father, Daphne is thrown right back into the chaos she worked so hard to escape.
Meanwhile, Jackson Parrish is released from federal prison a month early on good behavior and is back in his palatial waterfront estate before the sun even sets. As far as he’s concerned, prison is in the past, and he’s ready to reclaim his life, his business, and—most disturbingly—his family. Never mind that he’s currently married to Amber and has a two-year-old son, Jax. Jackson has tunnel vision for Daphne and their daughters, fully expecting to pick up right where they left off. What a sicko.
But Jackson isn’t the only one scheming. After discovering Amber stole millions from him in an attempt to flee to Paris, he forces her into a deal: help him win Daphne back, and in return, he’ll help Amber take down an enemy from her past. The only problem? They’re both master manipulators who can’t be trusted—by anyone.
This second installment from Liv Constantine had me thinking I’d love the "new" Daphne as much as the old one, but I was wrong. The original Daphne knew exactly who she was dealing with and never wavered. Sure, she wasn’t always a full step ahead, but she stayed sharp and kept her head on a swivel. This Daphne? I don’t know what happened to her in California, but it’s like she lost her fight.
Solid 3-star read. Lana’s past in Nebraska had plenty of skeletons—Daisy Ann and Jake Crawford weren’t necessary. That said, I did enjoy Birdie. Daisy Ann just felt like another rich woman for Lana to despise, but she already had enough resentment in her life. The story could have explored that instead and landed in the same place—Amber in jail.

I absolutely loved this series. The next Mrs. Parrish is a perfect domestic thriller. This one was equally as good as the first Mrs. Parrish.
Jackson is now out of jail & trying to make amends, but Daphne knows all too well he can't be trusted.
This book had me on the edge of my seat, not to mention that little brat Tallulah. She had me unhinged. One of the best sequels I've read. Thank you to NG for the opportunity to read in exchange for an honest review

I read The Last Mrs. Parrish a few years ago as part of book club and loved it!
Thank you to Net Gallery for the ARC in exchange for feedback.
The Next Mrs. Parrish continues with the same characters, few new characters. The story is told through viewpoints of three alternating characters. There are many twists and turns, some more believable than others. Some characters more likable than others; very well developed by the author.
I will continue to read the author’s books, predict that this one will be a popular read.

When I originally requested this book, I did not realize that it was a sequel to a book that had come out several years prior. I do think this could have been read standalone, but it is probably best enjoyed after reading the first book. I have to say, it probably isn’t the best thriller I have read. It is a like, not a love, just as the first book was as well. I appreciated that we had new characters in this book, and I do feel like the writing improved since the first book as well. That being said, there were SO many parts of this book that were incredibly cringey- especially all the Texas conversations. I’ve literally never heard somebody use the term “tarnation” in my life and I live in the south. Come on ladies! Nevertheless, it was a fun book to read if you enjoy toxic people who do horrible things to other people. I appreciated the cliffhanger at the end as well. While it wasn't my perfect read, it was twisty and kept me guessing with all the deceit which kept me coming back for more, so for those reasons I give it a 3 out of 5 stars.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an advanced reading copy of this book. All opinions within this review are my own.
