This book had me intrigued from the beginning because of the title and the description. I enjoyed the friendship between Esther and Danni and how they had each other's backs. Joe and Charlie were also great characters. At times I found Caroline's complaints a little bit too repetitive!

Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.

So good to be back with the staff and families at the Cornish Country Hospital.
I love Jo Bartlett’s writing so was thrilled to find the second in the Cornish Country Hospital series.
The storyline takes us down two paths, featuring nurse Esther and her Mum Caroline. I especially like the fact that Jo Bartlett often writes double storylines featuring two generations - after all the hope of finding, and in this case keeping, love doesn’t stop after 50.
Fully-formed characters & their plot lines held my interest throughout the book. I also like the fact we have a couple of much-loved characters from the Cornish Midwife series continue to feature in this series. One character who was missing in this book was Esther’s ex-fiancé. I hope he’s either gone for good or that in the next book he either gets his comeuppance or sees the errors of his ways & finds happiness.
Another enjoyable visiting time at the Cornish Country Hospital.

Ahhh this is so cute! I love the hospital setting so much, and the characters are so lovable. A great romance! More thoughts to come :)

A very simple, quick read, that is easily finished in an hour.

This instalment of the series follows Esther and her mum Caroline, two women at different stages of their lives. Esther, embarking on a possible romance, and Caroline adjusting to retirement.

The plot was interesting enough to keep readers engaged, and the pacing was good.

Overall, a good read.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in return for my honest review.

This is the second instalment of Jo Bartlett’s new series set in and around St Piran’s Hospital, Cornwall. Esther is the character who the main focus is on this time. She is newly single after breaking up with her horrible boyfriend and is embracing her new found single status, vowing to not have another relationship. However Joe, who is her best friend Danni’s brother, returns from Australia after his own relationship breakdown. They have always got on and although Esther has feelings from him she doesn’t want to act on them for fear of jeopardising her friendships with Danni and Joe if it all went wrong. On top of this it looks like there is something going with her parents and a patient that she helps after an accident then becomes obsessed with her. As always Jo writes with the heart of the community entwined into the storyline and with strong characters and connections. This has so many different elements, from heartbreak to laughter, romance to tragedy. I’m so looking forward to the next book in the series! Thank you to Boldwood Books, Netgalley and of course Jo Bartlett who never disappoints!!

Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for a review.

This is the second book in the series but could easily be read as a standalone. An enjoyable, easy read. Look forward to the next slice of hospital life.

I keep swinging back and forth as to who I like the most, and I can't possibly begin to choose. Danni and Esther are both such great, loveable characters.

This was such a dramatic book - in a good way, the storyline was incredibly engaging and kept me hooked and flipping through the pages at warp speed to find out what was going to happen next! A hospital drama at its best.

Joe was the absolute best😍And I'm so glad he's joined the cast.
And as always, catching up with previous characters was just brilliant.

I can't wait for book 3, the sort of cliff hanger has me wanting more! Jo Bartlett nailed it again❤️

I was excited about this book after having read welcome to the Cornish Country Hospital. There were some characters from this book in this continuation that I was curious about. I found that I didn’t connect with any of the relationships in this story compared to previous. There were several couples hilited in this book. I just couldn’t find interest in any of their stories. This was underwhelming for me. I felt like it was mostly focused on Esther’s parents more than her own story. Thank you to NetGalley for this free advanced copy in exchange for my honest review

I think this was better than the first book of the series, where I thought the author tried to make drama when there wasn't a lot going on. In this book, there is a lot going on, with some serious themes covered. I do think Esther was a little immature at times in her thinking, when I thought she was in her 30's. I felt for Caroline, that can't have been easy for her, being shut out by her husband. Anyway, a good read, and I look forward to the next instalment. With thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A beautiful story. This is the second book in the series - Welcome to a Cornish Country Hospital being book 1. If you haven't read the first book, this can be read as a standalone as there's enough info throughout the book to give you background from book 1. This story continues with the best friends Esther and Danni and also focuses on Esther's building relationship with Joe, Danni's brother, and also on the relationship between Caroline and Patrick, Esther's parents. There's plenty of trials and tribulations faced by everyone but with a lot of beautiful, heartwarming moments in between. A truly touching read. I hope there'll be more books in this series.

Jo Bartlett's "Finding Friends at the Cornish Country Hospital" is a nice clean read that explores friendship, love, and life's challenges in a heartwarming way. It has two narratives: Esther Hamilton is an A&E nurse navigating life after a breakup, and her mother Caroline is searching for purpose in retirement and a suddenly distant marriage.

The growing friendship between Esther and Joe Carter, her best friend's brother, adds a tender touch of rediscovered love to the story. While there is a bit of a romance, this may leave more heavy romance readers wanting more depth in the primary romantic subplot. Also, starting with the first book in this series may enhance enjoyment for new readers as recurring characters are reintroduced, but they don't overshadow in any way.

Bartlett's storytelling is simple and moving. The book handles heavy topics with sensitivity, including ageing, mental health, physical health, infidelity, death, and grief, providing readers with a touching and insightful experience. The first half of the book is especially loaded, so please check for trigger warnings - but know that there are more bright spots later on as well.

With engaging storytelling and thoughtful exploration of ageing, friendship, and romance, Finding Friends at the Cornish Country Hospital earns a solid four-star rating.

A big thank you to Boldwood and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The second book in the Cornish Country Hospital series.

This book focuses on A&E nurse Esther. Recently split from surgeon fiance Lucas, Esther is determined to stay single and concentrate on herself. However, when best friend Danni's brother Joe returns from Australia for a maternity cover placement, Esther is drawn to him. Can she stop herself from getting involved and having her heart broken again when Joe returns to Australia?

The book also covers the story of Esther's parents, Caroline and Patrick. Both recently retired, life isn't what Caroline expected. Can they overcome their problems before it is too late?

The book tackles the difficult subject of dementia very well, it is moving and real. However, I did feel a bit uncomfortable with the storyline about mental health and a patient that Esther and Joe treat. It felt to me as if it was unrealistic, and I found some of the reactions of characters to be incongruent with precious actions.

All in all, a good read, and I'll definitely look out for book 3!

Jo Bartlett never disappoints and this instalment in the country hospital series is another great read.

Excellent characters, some cameos from old favourites and a good story line. The perfect weekend read!

It felt so good to be back at The Cornish Country Hospital, and the setting is perfectly represented.

This time, the book focuses on Esther.

To recap a little from the first book, she moved to Cornwall with Lucas after her best friend Danni moved there.

She’s single and trying to just focus on life. Will she be able to really just do that?

I enjoyed her journey.

I wonder what the next book will bring?

Thanks to Jo Bartlett, Boldwood Books and Rachel’s Random Resources for my eARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. Jo Bartlett is one of my favourite authors so I was delighted to be given the ARC of the second instalment of the Cornish Hospital series. I was invested in the characters, but the Dillon story felt misplaced and unlike Bartlett's usual sensitivity towards difficult themes, as it relied on outdated stereotypes about mental illness (and an otherwise sympathetic character came across as judgemental) which were uncomfortable to read. That said, I am looking forward to reading Bartlett's next book.

I'm absolutely in love with this series and that's probably because I love medical books and drama. In the second book in this unputdownable series by Jo Barlett, we follow Esther and her life after she finally dumps Lucas, the jerk from the first book.

Esther is trying to piece her life back together when her best friends brother, Joe, arrives back in the country to take over a absent of leave for one of the hospitals mental health team workers. Will Esther find her happy ever after with Joe or will her past and fear of losing her best friend Dannii keep her from finding happiness?

We also follow Caroline, her mother who is finding retirement with her husband Patrick is not what she expected it to be. Then she becomes friends with David, a man whose wife has dementia (the way Jo writes this heartbreaking disease needs to be given credit).

Can these two women find their happy ever after?
