Another fantastic visit to the Cornish Country Hospital. Carrying on from the first book Esther is receiving from finding out how ruthless her fiancée was. Lucas is till under the impression he can’t win her back. Enter her best friend Danni’s brother Joe. He’s home from Australia for a six month stint at the hospital but him and Esther have always been close friends.
Lovely to read with a few mentions of our old friends the Cornish midwives.
Looking forward to further visits to the hospital.

Loved!

Most people don't look forward to visiting the hospital, but in the case of this series, I can't wait to go back! This is the second book in the series, focused on Esther, but also on her parents. We see a lot of Danni and Charlie, we meet Joe, Danni's brother, and the supporting staff at the hospital are part of the story, too.

I love Esther's compassion and empathy. She's the perfect model for a nurse, carries all the important characteristics. But sometimes compassion and empathy can be misinterpreted, leading to dangerous situations. In Esther's parents case, on the other side of the coin, when people try to protect the ones they love from bad medical diagnoses, the protection can be misinterpreted as withdrawal. Important lessons were learned by all.

I recommend this story to anyone who enjoys small town, clean romantic fiction.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

this authors work and once again she brings all the characters to life for her readers.
Set in Cornwall the hospital is such a heart none stopping busy place of work for The staff.
I loved reading every single chapter.

I absolutely loved this book. It gripped me straight from the start and I struggled to put it down. The relationship between Esther and Danni was lovely and I loved that we saw the story by Esther’s mother Caroline’s point of view too.

Great, gripping storylines. I hope to read more by this author!

3.5 stars

A really easy read, though really this is two stories in one, looking at two women at different stages of their lives. Sparks reignite for A&E nurse Esther when her doctor best friend Dani's newly single brother Joe temporarily returns from Australia. Meanwhile Esther's mum Caroline is adjusting to retirement and finding her purpose while also dealing with a disinterested husband.

Jo Bartlett weaves in an engaging story as the two women navigate some heavy topics such as dementia, cancer and mental health. I flew through this book easily as it was well-plotted with characters that were interesting.

Esther finds herself concerned for a patient who is becoming increasingly attached to her, while Caroline finds herself drawn to a fellow volunteer, David, whose wife has dementia and lives in the same facility as Caroline's mum. Both stories were compelling, though I think it would've been better to have seperate books for a more in-depth exploration. However both stories tied in seamlessly at the end. I also appreciated that Jo has done her research into nursing and professional standards (though Esther really did skirt the line at times!).

This book was my first Jo Bartlett book and it won't be my last - I'll be going to read her earlier work.

Thanks to Boldwood and NetGalley for the ARC.

Another great instalment of this new series from Jo Bartlett. This could be read as a day standalone but I recommend reading the first book in the series welcome to the Cornish county hospital for maximum enjoyment.

This story focused on the character of Esther and her mum and the continuing friendship Esther has with her long standing friend danni. And also included a few new characters as well as the rerun of old favourites from the Cornish midwife series. Highly recommend the Cornish county hospital if you loved the previous Cornish midwife books.

Already eagerly anticipating the next instalment.

Back in Cornwall with familiar faces once again. Esther is still trying to rebuild her life after Lucas. Her life is about to change with secrets and a shock accident. Will Esther find what she is looking for?

Another great installment in this book series. It was nice to focus on some of the background characters from the previous book but to still see the fantastic relationships that exist. Huge credit also goes to the setting and the great descriptions that just make you want to visit Cornwall.

Another easy read from this series, focused on Caroline and daughter Esther. Some darker issues here than in past stories, but overall a good read.

Gosh good to be back with characters you know but a moving read at times. A and E staff have a tough job at times. You get lots of twists . Esther’s demons were well and truly put to bed by the end. The boat accident was so moving and did not go the way you expected. Will spoil it if I say more. .Esthers parents story really moved me. You got so cross with her father at times and her mother but you also felt for them. . Enjoy. I did

An amazing second book in the series . This book is the story of Esther and her mother Caroline . Esther is vey passionate with her job and one of the patient is obsessed with her . Her friendship with Danni's brother joe now that is back in England is flourishing and the only thing that stops her is that he will go back t Australia . Caroline has lot of free time after her retirement from her work so she is volenteering in the hospital and she always spent time with her mother which has dementia in the hospice she stays . But she feels that her husband is very distant and never want to do anything something exciting . Will both women win the men of their lives ?
I received this book from netgalley and the publicer as an ARC . Thank you . All thoughts and opinions are my own .
