I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me the opportunity to read this masterpiece early for a review.

This book was absolutely amazing, from the very beginning I was learning something. The author did a beautiful job presenting each herb, explaining the uses and preventive measure the herbs can provide while giving your recipes for you to try on your on. The pages are crips, and cleanly laid out, making it easier to read and find the information you require. As soon as this book makes it on to the shelves, I am buying it and adding it to my arsenal. Thank you so much Rosemary, for allowing us a small insight into your strong wisdom.

This is the book you want to have in your library, in your kitchen, in your home. It is perfect to give as a gift and to have close at hand.
.
I really like learning about the things that surround us, the animals, the trees and plants around us and above all, understanding their functions and being able to correctly apply their benefits to help relieve even a cold, that is magic for me.
.
Everything is properly explained in detail and with beautiful photos. I haven't tried any of the recipes yet but I already have a list of my favorites to try. And it completely awoke my curiosity about natural medicine and what other books I could look for.
.
Thanks to Rosemary Gladstar and Storey Publishing for give me a copy of this beautiful book

This will definitely be easier to read in printed format and is more of a reference book that one you would read cover to cover. Saying that it is worth an initial scan through to grasp the full range of herbs and spices, many of which are easily recognisable alongside super easy remedies that can be implemented immediately. I recommend that you absolutely read the initial pages that talk about herb safety.

I was drawn to the fennel (anti inflammatory properties) and ginger which we use a lot but I realize that I can get a lot more mileage out of it. If your children or grandchildren are still young, it’s an excellent way to get them connecting with nature as well as into good nutritional and medicinal habits. As I am a nutritional therapist, I love the use of traditional natural remedies that allows allopathic medicine to be used only when most needed.

Some recipes and methods maybe a little daunting for people new to this world of natural remedies and I’m not sure how many people these days would be comfortable giving their children enemas. However, there are enough simple recipes or practices such as teas and herbals baths to work with whilst getting to grips with syrups, salves and the more complicated ideas. It will work for a range of readers, from the complete novice through to someone quite advanced.

Note that it may be difficult to source some ingredients and if looking to pick them yourself, care must be taken to avoid misidentification.

Amazing reference title for herb use in children! As I look towards more holistic and natural based remedies I found this title to be extremely well done in terms of ease to understand. There are a number of useful information graphics such as the herbal medicine cabinet graphic, listing a handful of staple syrups / teas/ tinctures, that I find very helpful when you're just starting out. This title covers the ethical ground of when to use herbs vs when to seek medical help, I appreciated this section. Herbal profiles are easy to understand and complete, covering used parts, benefits and uses. This title does NOT give enough information to be a reference for identifying while hunting and collecting wild herbs There are so many great recipes included in this work, suggesting there is a lot that can be done with herbs both medicinally and for flavorful treats. Beautiful photos, cohesive theme between chapters, color coded chapters. Chapter five covers the really important information regarding proper dosage for children vs adults. The appendix is such a treat; covering flower essences is just so cool.

Rosemary Gladstar approaches herbal remedies with a sense of care and humility. She provided tools and tips to replace OTC medicines with natural remedies you can grow in a garden. From teas and tinctures to balms and salves, this is an INVALUABLE resource if you’re seasoned or new to natural health. I COMPLETELY recommend this guide if you feel ready to take the giant leap away from big pharma!

Great book to add to any collection. I enjoyed the recommendations as to what to have on hand for common ailments for my children. I prefer to have natural remedies available as opposed to medicine such as Tylenol. Unlike other books I have read on this topic, I appreciated the added commentary on when to involve professional help if natural remedies do not work. Overall this is a great book and I would consider gifting it to new parents too.
