Thank you so much to Star Bright Books and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

A little tap at her window one night awakens Jasmine to explore the magic that is surrounding her, hearing all the wonderful sounds that you can only hear at night time.

This was absolutely gorgeous the way it was written made it flow so perfectly, you could feel the magic within the story, you could imagine the sounds you are hearing, that Jasmine is hearing for the first time. It was so captivating and absolutely gorgeous.

Not only was the story written so wonderfully, but the illustrations was so breathtakingly beautiful, I couldn’t stop looking at them all, seeing everything as Jasmine was seeing them, the shadows of her and her bat toy, all the little details of the items around her as she walks, the beautiful night blooming Jasmine vine, the animals around, literally everything was just so absolutely stunning.

This was such a captivating, magical, wonderous and beautiful story. You feel the magic that Jasmine is feeling, you are exploring everything with her as she ventures further outside. I highly recommend this, it’s such a beautiful book for young one to have read to them.

Night Blooming Jasmine is full of gorgeous illustrations depicting nighttime activities of Jasmine and various animals. I loved the facts about nocturnal animals at the end! Overall I enjoyed the story, but the rhythm threw me off. Different lines would rhyme from page to page, and I couldn't quite find the pattern.

I received an ARC from Star Bright Books via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A charming story about nighttime activities as observed by a little girl. This book was a delight and introduced us to the world at night, while many of us sleep. Dreamy, whimsical illustrations. I was blessed with a free ARC, and I’m leaving my review voluntarily.

"Night Blooming Jasmine" by Diane de Andra, with illustrations by Kendra Binney, is a beautifully drawn imaginitve children's book about a girl exploring during the night. I love that the author uses positive imagery for nighttime and animals that might sometimes be seen as scary. Binney's dreamy illustrations help to complement this and create a wonderful effect. This would make a beautiful bedtime story. Recommended.

Beyond stunning imagery here
It feels magical and whimsical immediately, and when combined in the prose - just stunning. This might be one of my favourite ever childrens books as it really drew me in with a sweet story and artwork beautiful enough to be put on the wall.

I also absolutely love the placement of the text - it was so artfully placed within the images. And the animal facts at the end? Such a sweet touch that will be so useful for when reading with children.

Honestly this was an easy 5 stars for me!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an E-ARC

View the wonders of the nocturnal world through the eyes of a curious child. Follow Jasmine as she takes a stroll through her home and peeks into the bustling nighttime environment that surrounds her.

Overall, I found the concept of this book to be endearing and the illustrations to be lush and magical. And I always love an end section that gives real information on animals and the environment.

My two criticisms of this book are the chosen rhyming scheme and the unclear message of venturing outdoors at night alone. It found that throughout the story, I kept getting stock on the rhyming. I found it too clunky at parts that therefore made it hard for me to focus on what was happening in the story. So I therefore had to reread lines a lot, which took away from my overall understanding of the text. And as for the messaging - I could deduce from the illustrations on a later page that the little girl in the story never left here house, but rather peered at the nighttime world through a window. However, this is not clear until the end of the book, and only if you really looked at the pictures. It read as if she was exploring outside at night alone. And while I love the wonder for the nocturnal world, I would worry about a mistaken message to young ones that it is alright to wander alone at night.

Thank you NetGalley and Star Bright Books for the ARC of this book.

This picture book has lush illustrations, exploring a little girl's fascination with what her house and yard look like at night. The book describes a number of nocturnal animals, and there's more information about each of these creatures in the note at the end.

However, even though the illustrations are very appealing, the text itself is frequently clunky, with an inconsistent rhyme scheme that will make this difficult to read aloud. Even though I was just reading this silently to myself, I would often reread lines to try to get the rhythm right. I think that this would have worked better if the author hadn't tried to rhyme.

First off, the illustrations in this book are lush and gorgeous! That being said, I really wanted to love this book but I did not. It wasn't horrible or anything but the rhyming metric utilized was so chaotic from page to page, it really affected my reading experience. Some pages the first and third line rhymed, some it was the third and fourth or the first and second or all four.... I just wish it was consistent throughout. I do like the story itself and think it is a great concept over all.

a dreamy nighttime adventure, aesthetically pleasing, I enjoyed the nocturnal walk through the house, the sounds, and the snapshots of the different creatures, (I'm always partial to an orange kitty), I even learned something new, that moths are night time pollinators, 4.5 stars

This is such a great bedtime story. It's melodic and peaceful. The illustrations are a show of their own. They are so beautiful.
I did feel an urge to warn my child to not venture outside at night but we enjoyed the story and illustrations together. We also liked the animal facts at the end of the book.

This picture book was very unique. It told the sotry of the noises at night, as a little girl awakes and explores around her. As you read, the imagery of Jasmine moving through the night is well done, as you feel like you are moving with her. I found it interesting to use the little girl as a way to explore the sounds and images of a moonlit night, very different from what I am used to. Illustrations are also done well, and are pleasant to look at. This would be a good book to read to children for bedtime, but would be cautioned to tell them that they are to be careful and safe at night.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book provided by the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Night Blooming Jasmine
by Diane De Anda

With poetry and rhyme a young child explores the night. She finds friends of the shadows, animals and star light. Its a beautiful image of the animals, and essences of the night. Inviting and providing information about animals and creatures that are not as active in the day.
The paintings are beautiful, Detailed, and magical.

5 star children's book! I want to live in Jasmine's world. This is a story of Jasmine, who wakens during the night and explores the world around her. This would be great for any child who wonders what happens while he/she is sleeping. The author's use of onomatopoeia is excellent and adds to the magic of the book. There are some facts about nocturnal animals at the end of this book, which children will enjoy.

Night blooming Jasmine is a lush and dreamlike story of a little girl who ventures out of bed and explores the nighttime world around her.

This is a lovely whimsical rhyming story which is fun to read aloud. I did find the changing structure of the rhymes tripped me up occasionally as I read, but overall the descriptive and lyrical language was very engaging. The illustrations were stunning, and I loved the blue hues, the movement and texture, which really evoked a sense of peace and nighttime magic.

This is a beautiful book for children to enjoy with their grownups. I particularly enjoyed the back pages identifying nocturnal animals, so children could enjoy their own night-scape experience.

Thank you Star Bright Books and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed are my own.
