I did it again. I finished Fate of the Sun King nearly two months before writing my review. So sorry guys. I've got to find a better system for getting in front of the computer regularly.

Anyway, Fate of the Sun King starts with tension between Lor and Nadir. They had a moment in the previous book and Lor freaked out. She's determined that she will never "belong" to another man. And Nadir has to back off his pursuit of her until she's ready. In the meantime, they're trying to find the crown of Heart and then return to the mirror of Aphelion. But the mirror is in the Aphelion throne room and Atlas is still searching for Lor. Even though the mirror rejected her as the next queen of Aphelion, he hasn't given up the idea of bonding with her and tapping into her power.

We have some additional narrators in Fate of the Sun King that we didn't have in the previous two books. We still have Lor and Nadir. But now we also have Gabriel, Cloris Payne, Zerra the Sun Queen (flashback), and King Herric (flashback). Cloris Payne's storyline ties into Lor's grandmother's storyline. And then Zerra and Herric go back to the formation of the "world" that the books are set in. Cloris's storyline makes sense in connection with what we've been exposed to previously. Zerra and Herric were confusing and left me wondering how exactly their stories were connected to the future events of the series. I'm sure we'll find out, but I didn't enjoy their pieces or storylines. I have some critiques of the storyline, but at this point, those would be spoilers, so I won't address them beyond saying that it reminds me of my previous complaints about this series.

Gabriel was the best new narrator. He shared a lot more information about what was going on in the Sun court with Atlas, and his own limitations due to the bonds placed upon him. I can't say I love everything about his storyline or character, but I'm intrigued to see more.

I mentioned in my review of Rule of the Aurora King that I was somewhat reminded of the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. There was one line in this book that I thought could have been a nod to that series as well, but I might have been reading too much into things.

I also mentioned in my previous reviews that weak writing presents easy conflict or conflict resolution in this series. I found myself questioning the same when the characters show up at The Woodlands on the run but decide to participate in a big party being celebrated. How does this make any sense?

Fate of the Sun King gets 3.5 Stars from me. I do think this was a better installment in the series overall. I have a few irritations and a couple of things I'm uncertain of where they are going. But overall, I read this book quickly. I wanted to keep reading, and I enjoyed the characters' development. Overall, I am looking forward to continuing the series. Have you read Fate of the Sun King? What did you think? Let me know!

I don’t know how I’m going to survive until the next installment comes. I WAS ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT!!!

The second and third book should have been combined to make for a better character arc between the two lovers. Absolutely love nadir and lor as individuals. They really shine in their own way and I’m glad they’re the main characters. Definitely a lot of filler tho but loved it. Worldbuilding is top tier

I have LOVED every book in this series so far! This book takes you even farther into the world and helps you gain a better understanding of a lot of the characters. Nisha writes characters that you can’t help but love even when you maybe shouldn’t love them at times. Once I started this book I couldn’t put it down. It does end in a cliff hanger so be ready to throw your book across the room when you get to the ending. The next book cannot come out quick enough!

I’m breathless from this captivating book!!! Nisha is such a skillful and imaginative writer. This was my first experience with Nisha and certainly won’t be the last!

Book three was 🔥!! A little more spice was sprinkled throughout the book. The pace I thought was really good for this as well. Not over done but delicious 🫠
We also got a POV from my baby Gabe?!! Honestly, my favorite part was more Gabriel. This book just opened my eyes to a lot of things I didn't even see coming! Which I freaking love.

I was in no way prepared for ANY of the twists in this book, including THE MEANING OF THE TITLE 😭

Absolutely amazing as always ++ a cliffhanger that's breaking my heart

This is book 3 of a planned quartet and comes out June 4, 2024. If you like romantasy with fierce FMCs, enemies to lovers, found family, and forced proximity, this series is for you! I am beside myself with that ending and can’t wait for the next book!

Can’t believe I got my hands on a copy of this. I read the first two books last year and could not believe how long I needed to wait for the 3rd. Even though it’s been awhile since I’ve been in this world, the author does an AMAZING job of reimmersing you and I felt like I picked up right where I left off. I was obsessed with Lor and Nadir BUT more so Gabriel. He quickly became my favorite character and I’m so glad we got so much of him. The ending is a giant cliff hanger (be prepared, it’s a doozy) I will be patient till November, I just love this series so much

I've enjoyed this series but there's something about it that just hasn't hooked me like other romantasy.

Thanks to the publisher for the advanced copy!

I had a bit of trouble getting into *Fate of the Sun King* at first because the pace was slow. However, as I continued reading, I found myself really enjoying the story. The tension between the two main characters grew more intense and gripping as the plot developed.

By the end of the book, I was left feeling devastated. I’m especially curious about what happened to Gabriel and how his story will turn out. Despite the slow start, the book offers a powerful and moving experience that makes it worth sticking with.

I don't know how anyone is supposed to function after an ending like that...

The thing is, spoiler, not spoiler since everyone is expecting a cliffhanger reading the third book before the finale, it's not just ONE cliffhanger—it's multiple!!! I've never wanted to throw my book more when there were no more pages to flip to.

These endings make me imagine the author maniacally laughing as they write the final chapters, knowing the torment they will give us readers.

So creative. So devious. How does your mind work? I need book four now!

I have this weird habit of either expecting too much from the third sequel or expecting too little. I'll admit I did'nt have high expectations for this one. I am not particularly sure as to why really. Maybe I was trying to protect myself from disappointment from the possibility of my favorite series flopping. But, I had no reason to worry because Nisha Tuli knocked it out of the park.

It brought everything I love: adventure, romance, side-character plots, found family, lgbt rep, cool magic system, newfound powers, and unexpected twists.

It was seriously so good and I am beyond excited for the fourth book. Everything was paced gracefully and for how long this series is, it made perfect sense with all the events that have taken place. I am obsessing!!

Fate of the Sun King is absolutely phenomenal. I gave 5 stars to the first two books in the series, but this one deserves a 6/5. I loved everything from the evolution of Nadir and Lor’s relationship, to finding more about the past of Ouranos. I can’t wait to see how things unfold in the last book.

This series just keeps getting better and better! This book dives deeper into the world’s origins and lore (no pun intended) and not everything is as it might seem. With heart racing moments and plenty of spice, it was hard to put down. The cliffhanger will leave you desperate for the conclusion!

MY HEART!!! I almost threw my Kindle across the room with that ending
Kicking off book three, Nadir and Lor are continuing their quest to get revenge on the Aurora King, but they need to talk to the Mirror again and get an important object of The Heart Queen. This book follows the POV of Lor, Nadir, Gabriel, and flashbacks of the past. It steps up in the action, tension, and spice all while giving us a deeper dive behind the history of Ouranos. Chapters 26 and 27 had me fanning myself! All I need now is for November to come faster so I can get my hands on the final book so I can stop thinking about the cliffhanger!

Wow did this one turn up the heat! I loved seeing Lor and Nadir grow together as they worked to reclaim Lor's magic. This might be my favorite in the series so far! NJT delivers on the spice and the emotion throughout this book, while also really expanding on the worldbuilding for Ouranos. At first, I was unsure how to feel about the chapters which flashed back thousands of years, but I ultimately think that it adds a lot of context that will likely be important in Book 4. The ending was so wild and such a cliffhanger--Tale of the Heart Queen cannot come fast enough!

Possibly spoiler-y quotes I loved:

"He makes me feel things I never expected to feel. Safe. Wanted. Beautiful. Like my flaws aren't a series of mistakes but rather the essential pieces that make me who I am."

"If anything happens to her, it will destory me. Nothing will put the pieces back together if my father gets his hands on her. I'll be a shattered crystal statue, ground to nothing but razor-sharp dust."

"I've been tending a patch of weeds while he's been growing me a garden."

"Never underestimate the enduring fragility of a man who suffers from a lack of confidence."

"I need you to understand that someday I am going to make a choice when it comes to my father. One that might show you I'm not a good person, and I hope that you'll be able to forgive me for it."

**I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

Five emojis to sum up the reading over here. I may not have a heart any more, but I can't wait for the final book. Nisha has once again made my heart happy and then ripped it out all at once.

Fate of the Sun King is a book I had been itching to get my hands on after reading the first two in the Artefacts of Ouranos series. I was a little worried though because usually when a book is expected to be longer than a trilogy, book 3 is usually where things start to flatline for me. Thankfully this was not the case.

We dive right back into the world and start to get more pieces of Lor's story. This series is definitely a beautifully painful slow burn but things start to pick up steam in this one and I am here for it! We get multiple POVs which I always enjoy since it always helps the story feel faster paced and I am less likely to lag and lose steam. Nisha's writing is so enjoyable and easy to get caught in and not stop. I could not put this down and was screaming by the end, because warning! Crazy cliffhanger in sight. But, thankfully book 4 is set to release not long after this one so we won't be heartbroken for too long.

Thank you so much to Nisha, NetGalley, and Forever Publishing for this ARC! Fingers crossed I'll get book 4 because I will not be able to wait for that one's publication date.
