Morbidly Yours, set in Ireland, which I adore, was a disappointment. I appreciate NetGalley for allowing me to read this book early, but I couldn’t finish it. I felt disconnected from the characters, and the storyline, while intriguing, wasn’t something I enjoyed.

The writing was clunky and there was a significant amount of telling instead of showing. There were also quite alot of scenes that felt like filler.
That being said, I liked the chemistry between the characters. And it had enough of the things I love to continue reading.

This was unfortunately not the book for me. It felt a little similar to like, four other books that I’ve read? And while I normally don’t mind things like that, this just failed to standout.

A sweet slow burn friends to lovers that is both cozy and emotional. Lark and Callum are the perfect example of grumpy sunshine and the way they were able to balance each other out was so well done. While I normally enjoy a slow burn these two dance around each other for so long it was a little exasperating. The spice was fun and if you love some Irish dirty talk then I definitely recommend the audiobook. I also loved the representation of demisexuality that we got to see from Callum. The most frustrating part was seeing Lark being mistreated at work and not standing up for herself due to fear of repercussion but I appreciated that it was something that they touched upon more in the end.

This was an unexpected rom com that was really fun to read. Lark moves to Galaway, Ireland from Texas for a fresh start after losing her husband. Lark’s new home is surprisingly located next door to a funeral home. Her new neighbor is Callum, the funeral home owner with a quickly approaching deadline to marry in order to keep his funeral home. Lark helps Callum in the search to find a wife, but are they actually the perfect match?
Morbidly Yours deals with grief, forgiveness and second chances. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and St. Martin's Press for the gifted e-book ❤️ #gifted. My review is comprised of my honest thoughts.
Read this book if you like: Slow burn, friends to lovers, demisexual mmc, Irish mmc, Texan fmc, opposites attract, spicy
I love this! The mmc is a demisexual with a stutter. He's Irish and shy, she's a bubbly Texan. Such a fun book. It's sweet, spicy, funny. I highly recommend this!

This book really just fell flat for me. I really didn’t care about either character and the relationship was just very bland to me. Maybe I just had too high of hopes for this one

I really enjoyed Morbidly Yours. The quirky setup—an anxious mortician who has to marry by 35 and a Texan animator with a past—pulled me right in. The grumpy/sunshine dynamic between Callum and Lark is adorable, and the slow-burn romance gave me all the cozy, emotional feels. The Irish setting and themes of grief and healing added real depth. It did drag a bit in spots, and some of the side plots felt a little overdone, but overall it was a genuinely sweet and unique rom-com that stuck with me.

Cute lil romance set in Ireland? Sign me up. This was a quick, easy read that had me chuckling the whole time. Perfect palate cleanser read.

So interesting and sweetin a waythat I hadnt expected. I was absolutely here for the wittiness of the writing and the character's banter!~

Loved this with every fiber of my soul! It was made for me. A perfect blend of comedy, spice and pure raw emotion. Both characters had such interesting back stories and together they were magic. I also loved how one was an undertaker and another was an animator. Ivy has such a charm to her voice and I can’t wait to read from her. This was an absolute blast.

Ohhhh my goodness. I have always been so intrigued by Ireland so when I saw this book had a TEXAN (🙋♀️) FMC I knew I had to read it ASAP. It did not disappoint, in fact I am now craving more books set in Ireland. I absolutely loved this story of introverted Callum and Texas to Ireland transplant, Lark. What started out as a friendship turned into so so much more! Lark is determined to help her mortician neighbor land a wife in order to keep his family home and business. She has suffered enough heartbreak for a lifetime so when Lark starts to feel more for her new friend, she fights it off with a vengeance. SUCH a good book. Thank you to NetGalley and GP Putnam for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!

While not a groundbreaking read, this book was a decent story that I struggled to get through. It took me a long time to finish and, ultimately, didn't leave a strong impression. thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advanced copy.

Ivy Fairbanks brings a new type of contempiorary romance to the shelves and I picked it up out of "morbid" curiosity. Romance books with backtory, emotions and three dimensional storylines make me automatically rate a book higher. I want to see real human struggles and the frolaws of humans and Ivy did just that!

I don't know if i gave this book a fair chance or I just didn't like it.
I DNF, I couldn't get going on it and it would not hold my interest. I put it down and picked it up several times with no avail.

I enjoyed Morbidly Yours so much. It had some steamy, spicy, heartfelt, emotional, and hilarious moments. Lark and Callum start as friends, and they couldn’t be more different. I loved seeing them together, and how each of them grew in their own way. Callum and Lark each had their own “villain” in the story they had to overcome as well, and it was interesting to see how that drama unfolded.
What made for some hilarious moments was the difference in languages between countries. Words have certain meanings in the US that are completely different from Ireland. That made for some great moments.
Another aspect of the book that I liked was that this was dual POV where we get to experience Ireland for the first time along with Lark, but we also get to see Ireland from Callum’s POV where he’s lived there his whole life. We got to see each of them grow through their POV as well. I’d highly recommend this story.

I received a digital arc from the publisher via Netgalley though all thoughts are my own.
This book had me hooked from beginning to end and I read it in less than twenty four hours as I had to know what would happen next and continue to be swept up in Callum and Lark's journey from friends to so much more. There was quite a bit of steaminess and I knew that they couldn't resist each other for long.
I love that this is set in Ireland and how there was were Irish works sprinkled throughout the book. I loved the connection that Callum and Lark were forming and how they balanced each other out. I really found it sweet that Lark didn't once treat Callum differently due to having a stutter nor when she realized that he might be demisexual.
Callum is just the sweetest cinnamon roll who is also fiercely protective of those he cares for and I'm so glad that Lark helped inspire confidence and not feeling so self conscious about having a stutter.
I also adore that Callum rescued a mouse named Houdini who obviously adores Callum and eventually Lark.
I highly recommend this book which I had such a fun time reading and being along for the development of Callum and Lark falling in love.
Trigger warnings: mention of dead bodies, mention of some procedures of preparing dead bodies, death of grandparents off the page, death of a husband, death of a wife, death of a friend, bullying, lude comments from a coworker, some violence, grief

I read a free copy of #Morbidlyyours by #IvyFairbanks through #NetGalley. Callum, an undertaker from Galaway lives next door to renter, Lark. Callum is a serious gentleman, who has forgotten to live and be happy. Lark is an animator and optimist from Texas, who believes that she is responsible for her dead husband's accident. She has run to Galaway, to be in charge of an animated film. Both have trouble letting people into their hearts. This book shows their relationship grow from acquaintances to lovers, while Lark, learns to let people into her heart. It has Irish terms defined in the book and a list of characters. I recommend this book

Lark Thompson moves to Ireland for an animation job and learns that her neighbor is a mortuary home (and not to be reminded about the loss of her husband). Callum would rather spend his time with the bodies at his mortuary than talk to living people, but he discovers that he needs to get married before his 35th birthday, or he will not inherit his family's mortuary business. Can Lark and Callum help each other while ignoring the real connections between them?
I loved everything about this book. The story was wonderful, the characters felt real, and I wanted more when I was done reading. I will excitedly read whatever Ivy Fairbanks comes out with next! 4 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam for this eARC. All thoughts are honest and my own.
This was a cute read! I enjoyed seeing Cal come out of his shell and be more comfortable in his skin. Callum definitely carried this book on his back.
