Thank you to Netgalley and the Publishing Company for this Advanced Readers Copy of My Vampire Plue-One by Jenna Levine!

This was a cute story and an average read for me. It held my interest enough to finish, but it's not typically the type of characters I would read. But overall it was a quick, fun read.

This book had the same lighthearted, unserious charm as the previous one, making it an enjoyable palate cleanser. Reggie’s fun-loving personality balanced well with Amelia’s structured life, and their dynamic was entertaining. While it didn’t leave a strong impression, it was a fun, easy read for those looking for a low-stress story.

Thank you so much for the arc! Omg, this book was so much FUN. I had never read a book by this author, but the title itself was so intriguing and I’m so happy I got the opportunity to read this book! More in depth review to come.

In 2023 I picked up Levine’s My Roommate is a Vampire on a complete whim. I don’t do romance, but I love vampires, so I figured, why not give it a try? Turns out, I do in fact do romance (at times) and I really love the way Levine writes vampires.
Naturally, when I heard that Levine was giving my favorite vampire, Reginald Cleaves, his own story, it was a no-brainer that I would be snagging a copy!
My Vampire Plus-One completely lived up to my expectations! This story is downright fun! From the minute that Amelia meets Reggie readers know that they’re going to be in for an entertaining time. I loved their dynamic and the way Levine crafted their fake dating story (look at me knowing romance tropes!).
The real question here isn’t if you should buy this book, because duh. The question is: Do I need to read these in order? No, but you really should. There are some pretty big spoilers in this book for Roommate and as someone who has read both, I think you’ll regret knowing them in advance. PLUS!!!! There is a third book coming! So just buy both and then start counting down to October with me for the next dose of Levine’s Vampires!

I loved this one as much as the first. It just feels so relaxed while all the things happen. It’s so cute and holds such a vibe. I want more!

Thank you NetGalley and Berkley for an eARC in exchange for my honest review!
Jenna Levine has gifted us again with a sweet and funny story, complete with lovable characters. Quirky vampires have become a favorite of mine, and My Vampire Plus-One delivers on that front!
I can’t wait to read the next one, these books are perfect for someone looking for something a bit lighthearted and fun.

"This will be one of those good old-fashioned platonic fake dating arrangements."

Amelia didn’t mean to lie. Really, she didn’t. It was just one little joke to her parents about bringing a boyfriend to an upcoming wedding. But instead of laughing it off, they latched onto the idea like it was the most exciting news of the year. Now, she has two options: confess the truth and endure months of pitying glances and unsolicited matchmaking attempts, or find a date, and fast.
With time running out, Amelia does what any desperate, overworked accountant would do: she ropes in the next available guy. Enter the tall, handsome stranger she literally bumped into on the street. He’s charming enough, but he’s also got an eccentric wardrobe, a perpetual case of the chills, and a habit of saying things that make her question if he’s from this century.

OKAY insert knuckle cracking sound. My Roommate is a Vampire was one of those books that was a bit of a let-down (that might be dramatic), but there was so much potential that I feel was not explored (still upset we didn't spend more time with the cooky old school vampires). I do think I enjoyed this one maybe slightly more? I love fake dating trope so that helps. However, this story once again leans very heavily towards insta-love, which makes fake dating less exciting. But like the first one, there were still parts I enjoyed, laughed out loud and swooned.
However, my biggest gripe with these books is the flippant behaviour that becoming a vampire is treated with. I know, it's not that serious, but I need these women to take approximately more than 30 minutes to actually think about the fact that they would be becoming immortal for a guy they met less than a year ago. What about their families??? Their careers?? Their entire lives?? This is not a decision you can just make willy nilly. It feels like these women are getting love bombed but instead of being swooned into a relationship they're being swooned into giving up their entire lives for some guy. Again, not that deep. But I feel like if you're gonna add vampires as a love interest that conversation needs to happen. Even Edward had the decency of pushing back against Bella (lol).
I'm also not convinced that these stories wouldn't work if you removed the vampire aspect. It currently is more so in there to have that kind of paranormal romance vibe, but with none of the real world realities of what a romance with a vampire in the 21st century would actually entail.
Anyways, I'll get off my vampire soap box now.
Disclaimer: I received an eARC of this book from NetGalley.

probably a 3.5 for me. I think I think about the real life consequences of becoming a vampire far too much (& definitely far more than the characters in these stories)

This was a good time. Just as good as the first one if not better. I love Levine’s writing style! Instabuy author for me now.

I don't know why I thought this book would be better than the first one. It wasn't. I think the cover is gorgeous and I'm a little obsessed with it. I wish the story was half as good as the cover.

This, along with Jenna’s debut novel, were my two favorite reads of 2024! The characters are funny, lovable and adorable! I cannot wait to read the final installment in the My Vampire series!

I received an eARC from NetGalley in return for an honest review.
I adored this book. I thought the plot was quick and fun, and the error in communication that leads to them fighting was actually clever. The main character is organized and always thinks things through which is perfectly matched for Reggie who is chaotic and likes spur of the moment actions. The comic relief is wonderful. This is literally my favorite cozy vampire romance series. I like how the climax isn't super crazy, it usually resolves itself happily. Which I think we all need a little cozy romance in our lives to cut the dark romance a bit, for the people who like vampires but don't want all the darkness and blood. I love the fluff.

I loved My Roommate Is A Vampire so I didn’t think twice about reading book number 2 of My Vampires series. Reading or watching stories about eccentric vampires stuck in modern times is something that I enjoy immensely. What We Do In The Shadows, anybody?
Reginald Cleaves is a fantastic vampire name and this combined with his outfits and funny situations within the story were a win for me. However, I think that my expectations were a little too high and I didn’t find this installment as good as the first book. I don’t think it has to do anything with the story itself, it’s more about the hype.
Amelia is also a fun character and I really loved her self discovery and growth journey, I was really cheering for her. Good for you Amelia!
I’m going to cut this review short because I don’t want to give anything away neither about the first or second book. If you like to read about vampires, this series is definitely a great choice if you are looking into a more lighthearted take on the eternally emo, celibate and tormented blood suckers.

from the author or MY ROOMMATE IS A VAMPIRE! this was just as fun and enjoyable. I love when romantic comedies actually bring on the comedy because this was an incredible read with the comedic relief I needed! The romantic tension was so hot my pages were starting to catch fire and it made up for the lack in spice, which honestly I didn't mind, sometimes books don't need excess spice to be hot.

OMG, this was so fun. I was unfortunately not in love with the characters. Frederick was just too much and didn't work imo for a mmc. I would definitely say this book is a low stakes palate cleanser.

I'd started this a couple of months ago, and then, for whatever reason, put it down (probably college tbh). But now that I've finished it, I'm so mad at myself for that. Because this was such a delightful book. Reggie and Amelia were so adorable together. And I feel like My Vampire Plus-One did a great job of balancing its ridiculousness. It was silly, it was light-hearted, but it didn't feel stupid. It was just a fun read. And it has me craving a reread of Book 1. Though I would find myself missing Old Fuzzy... But I would absolutely recommend this one and I desperately hope we get more books in the universe!
Thanks to Netgalley for providing a free copy in exchange for an honest review!

I LOVED My Roommate is a Vampire so I was. pumped to get an advanced copy of My Vampire Plus-One! Honestly, it was just as good if not better! I adored Reginald and literally everything he did, he was so sweet and it was hilarious watching him try to do human things for Amelia. Amelia was awesome, and I kinda dug that she was an accountant that loved her job. I really enjoyed we got to see little glimpses of Fredrick and and how their life has continued together. It had all the fun tropes, fake dating, forced proximity, opposites attract, and was a wee bit slow burn! I sincerely hope we get many more books from Jenna Levine!

I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.

“The truth is, I quite like making you happy." My Vampire Plus-One by Jenna Levine
So, I hadn’t read My Roommate is a Vampire prior to reading My Vampire Plus- One but I didn’t feel lost at all. I remember seeing the first is this series all over Bookstagram when it first came out, and I definitely plan on going back and reading it. I really enjoyed Ameila and Reginald’s (Reggie) fake dating storyline. I mean, who wouldn’t want to bring a fake date to a wedding just to get their family off their back? To me, this was one of the more believable reasons for the fake dating trope because it could actually work in real life. Amelia was really likeable and relatable with her putting her work before her own personal life. Reggie was an absolutely quirky character and at times a little bit cringey, but what can you expect from a several 100 years old vampire? I loved the ground rules Ameila set for their fake dating situation because of course, you know they’re going to break them all. The ending started going a little off the rails with the whole “Collective” situation that started to unfold at Ameila’s workplace, but then the author reigned everything back in. Overall, I think this was a cute rom-com for those that like a vampire/human love connection. I’m definitely going to go back and read the first book in the series!

When Amelia impulsively claims to have a boyfriend, it’s only to get her nagging family off her back. But when they demand she produce him for a cousin’s upcoming wedding festivities, Amelia enlists the strange but charming Reggie as a fake date, quite unaware that he is in fact a vampire.
This is the second book in the My Vampires series, in which vampires with a confused understanding of humanity and modern times meet classic romcom female leads, which much humor ensuing. While the first book didn’t deliver as I’d hoped, this second does a much better job of filling the brief.
Amelia is your stereotypical straight-laced accountant, but she really picks her complete opposite for a fake date – freewheeling Reggie, whose adventures with bullet journaling and Discord offered plenty of diversion. With such a serious woman and such a laidback man as leads, the author could have risked having one look down on the other, but instead walks the tightrope of admiring the other’s outlook on life while still realizing it’s not for them.
Add the humor that results from how bad an understanding of the IRS that the average vampire has, as well as Amelia’s understanding of Reggie’s sense of humor, and I had plenty of fun. Who knew tax codes could save the day? I also appreciated getting more of an understanding of vampire society.
I did think though that the ending got a bit rushed, especially with the resolution of whatever was going on with the centuries’ old fire. I expect it would come out in a future book (featuring perhaps, a witch?), but in the meanwhile it does mean that this big mystery that had been causing Reggie all his issues just gets passed into as of yet unknown hands, and with it the chance to learn about what exactly was up with the vampire sires.
