4.5 stars. I was so excited for this book after reading Crossroad. You can absolutely read Sunlight by itself. It was just really fun to see the characters from the previous book’s story continue in the background. Our sunshine guy, Jax has settled into his job at his family’s ranch resort but you also quickly get a sense he’s actually lonely. With total black cat energy, Sasha joins the ranch as the manager. You learn quickly she’s got a past. She’s insistent on not acting on the mutual chemistry between her and Jax. The push/pull between them is nearly instant from the moment they both meet. One night they finally act on things and those things make a lasting impression. What one of the things I love about Devney’s writing is that her men have depth and process their emotions just as openly as her women. Jax and Sasha have realistic conversations about what’s next for them and as the story progresses, they both approach their life baggage in different ways. What never changes is their smoking hot chemistry. The spice is delicious but the consistent heat between them makes it so much better. I loved the emotional depth in this story. Really reminded me of Juniper Hill and Jasper Vale in all the best ways. I was so invested in these two. It almost had a suspense to the happy ending but it was well worth it. The ending and epilogue felt like a warm hug and if you loved The Eden’s, you will love this book/series.

I loved this but I didn’t end up loving it as much as I thought I would after the glimpse of Jax and Sasha at the end of Crossroads.

I didn’t feel connected to Sasha whatsoever, I just felt annoyed with her most of the time. I love the way Devney weaves the mystery of “who is this person” from their past throughout the books but this one didn’t work for me. I think had it been revealed much sooner and delved into more then I would have felt more of a connection to Sasha. Everything just felt so surface level. Especially when Jax was baring his heart the entire time, like damn girl give him SOMETHING.

Other than that I loved being back at Haven River Ranch and catching back up with the characters. I hope we aren’t done with this series bc there are two couples mentions that I very much would love to read about! 🤞🏼

Devney Perry has done it again. I will always read her stories. Thank you so much for the ARC! I loved every bit of this book and it had the perfect ending. It will definitely be a reread when the book is released as it’s coming with an audiobook in kindle unlimited like crossroads. I don’t want to give too much away because I wanna talk about everything in this book for it being so good. Jax has definitely joined my list of favorite fictional cowboys. Sasha tried to keep everything hidden about her but Jax was able to peel back those layers with “tell me a lie” or “tell me a secret”.

Sunlight

4.25/5 stars

The banter between our main characters right off the block was so much fun. I adored Jax. He was sweet and charming. Sasha is a bit snarky in the best way. The way she was loyal to Jax in his feelings about Lily. Yes, girl!

Their first kiss was so sweet, and I love how Jax treats her with such care.

One of my favorite things about Devney’s books is the way she writes her characters. I always feel invested in them.

But the characters weren’t my issues in this one. It just felt like not a lot ever happened. Instead of building tension and angst between Jax and Sasha, we did lots of time-jumping. Yes, there was a big “moment” about midway through, but even that wasn’t very dramatic.

The mystery behind Eddie is teased a bit, but not revealed until very close to the end. And even that was resolved quickly and easily.

Overall, I definitely still enjoyed Sunlight, I just found myself wish there’d be a little more.

ARC review!!

I have been in love with Jax since Crossroads. I actually liked him a lot more than West. I love Jax and his personality. I love how he forgave his father and wasn't holding much of a grudge towards him. I love how he loves his brother. I love how he cares for Emery and wants to protect her. I love how he loves Sasha.

From the moment that he meant her, he knew inside that this woman was the one for him. I love how raw he is. I love how honest he is about his feelings. I love how he can own his mistakes. I feel like we haven't had a character like him in a long time.

Sasha was trying to protect herself from catching any feelings. But when it comes to Jax, he is a lot and it's hard not to love him. I love how she gave in. The life they create and how its built on honesty to me was everything. I absolutely loved this book so much and was so happy to be able to get a ARC for it.

will we get Zac and Emery? cuz im here for this too...

It’s always such a treat when there’s a new Devney Perry book to read! I savor every single page because they are an easy five stars every time. 🥰

My favorite thing about Devney’s writing is her ability to set the scene so effortlessly. The little details she gives about the town or the people make you feel like you’re a part of their little world. I love being able to fully immerse myself in one of her books and Sunlight was no exception! ☀️🌄

Sasha and Jax meet when Sasha is in a scuffle over a shopping cart in town. Jax helps bring her groceries home and they hit it off on the walk over so he asks her out. But when he introduces himself, she immediately backs away and goes inside. Jax isn’t used to rejection so it stings, but it all makes sense when he shows up to his family ranch and finds out that Sasha is the new manager. As much as she tries to remain professional, the chemistry they shared during their first encounter is hard to forget.

Haven River Ranch is one of my favorite fictional places to be. I loved everything about Sunlight and I know it’s going to be a book I pick up to reread often

Thank you Devney Perry & ValentinePR for this ARC!

I have read most of Devney’s books (almost every single one) and I don’t know how she does it. They’re all wonderful and perfect and special and different???

She’s able to weave a new beautiful, addicting story and I’m SO happy/grateful/thankful/blessed I was chosen for an ARC for Sunlight!

Just, wow. WOW. I was immediately hooked. Literally, chapter one - boom, laughing, smiling, giggling and kicking my feet, all of the above. The story was new and captivating, the banter was top tier, the romance!!!!! 😭 ugh, I still have happy tears in my eyes and I’m still swooning so hard. The edge of mystery throughout the whole novel?! Like girl!! Bow down to queen Devney, she’s done it again. Another 10/10 book.

I’m so sorry to say it, but….move over, West. I love Jax. I loved Jax in Crossroads and I love him even more now. And SASHA, you beautiful perfect girl!!! They both deserve every single thing that’s good in the world.

The bonus epilogue!!!!!! 😩 “tell me a secret” alright I’m dead y’all!! 🧡

if you’re curious whether or not I cried when I got the email that I’d been approved for this ARC, the answer is yes. yes I did. 😭 thank you Valentine PR and Devney Perry for the ARC!

Devney Perry has been one of my all-time favorite authors of my adult life and the excitement I felt when discovering she was going to be writing a small-town, ranch/cowboy, romance series was second to none. I absolutely LOVED crossroads and really thought it couldn’t be beat until I read sunlight!

what do you get when the “go with the flow”, no commitment, younger brother cowboy who owns a portion of his family’s ranch & resort meets the uptight, highly organized, closed off to everyone new resort manager? you get the beautiful story of jax & sasha! from their first meet cute where they tell lies and secrets to avoid small talk to the deep conversations they have throughout, you’ll be engaged and invested in every minute.

jax is such a unique mmc in that he is so grounded and calm and puts his all into everything he does, while sasha is such a strong fmc who works her butt off, puts others before herself, and has dealt with too many hardships. their dynamic is so fun & intriguing with lots of little twists and turns! if you haven’t yet, go read crossroads and then dive headfirst in sunlight ASAP!!

I couldn't put this one down! It is the second in the Haven River Ranch series and I highly recommend you read the first in the series before this one!

I absolutely adored Jax, he just has a presence about him. I loved how he was always smiling, even after everything life has put him throuh.

I really should take notes when I read because when it comes time to review, I never know what to say! But I just know I loved this book and couldn't put it down until I was done!

I don't know what Devney puts in her books but I honestly finish every single one in one sitting.

I was so happy to come back to Haven Ranch to read more about Jax and Sasha.

This is a great enemies to Lovers, workplace and forced proximity. There is also accidental pregnancy, which is always my favorite but this did not bother me at all.

If you are a Devney fan you will be so happy with this one 🩷

Thank you Valentine PR, Netgalley, and Devney for an advanced copy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5

YAY for being back at Haven River Ranch 🤠🐴✨ Devney just knows how to write good tropes + pretty stories - hence why she’s quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I was so geeked to get this ARC copy and it did not disappoint! Jax and Sasha have a fun little meet cute, until she finds out he’s her new boss at the ranch in Montana. Sasha then does everything she can to avoid and dislike the man, until her walls start breaking down. I loved how patient Jax was with her healing and difficult past. The pregnancy trope was 🤌🏼 and these two love birds were so easy to cheer on. I loved the development of this story and the mess of Haven River Ranch dynamics. P.S- I’m not ready to leave the ranch yet so really crossing my fingers for a third book @devneyperry !!

Expect:
-small town
-cowboy romance
-enemies to lovers
-accidental pregnancy
-forced proximity
-complicated family dynamics
-western setting

Thank you so much Devney Perry + Valentine PR for the ARC copy in exchange for my honest review!

I loved the first book in the Haven River Ranch series Crossroads, where you follow the story of Indya & West.
I have been waiting for Jax’s (and Sasha’s) story since I read Crossroads at the beginning of this year.

What to expect:
- small town romance
- accidental pregnancy
- work place romance
- found family
- cowboy
- forced proximity

Normally I’m not a really big fan of the accidental pregnancy trope but the way Devney Perry portrayed it and showed us how Jax & Sasha fell in love during the pregnancy made me like the trope in Sunlight.

There was a subplot mentioned from the beginning which kept me guessing the whole time, towards the end we got clarity on that part and to be honest it made me tear up.

Also, Jax Haven is a walking GREEN flag!!!

As always Devney Perry delivers a beautiful story about love, friendship & family.

Thank you to Valentine PR, Netgalley & Devney Perry for this ARC.

“Tell me a lie.”
“Tell me a secret.”

I was so excited to read Jax and Sasha’s story. I don’t know what it is about Devney’s writing but her books are always a comfort read for me. This didn’t disappoint.

A beautiful story about two people who find healing in their journey together.

Jax is a carefree cowboy who’s only ever been a one stand night stand type of guy (hello, mommy issues). But he has much more depth than his persona gives off. Then, he meets Sasha. A woman he can’t win over that easily.

Sasha is an independent “ice queen” who appears to have it all together. But her traumatic past and skeletons in her closet that she hides from the rest of the world. She doesn’t like relying on anyone. Until Jax.

I don’t know what is about men who handle horses but they pay attention. The way Jax reads all of Sasha’s cues stole my heart. Never wanting to spook her, he handles her with patience and care… Never giving up.

One night happens between them that turns into more than that…

“I won’t let you fall.”

“My Josephine.”

“Everything keeps flipping.”
“Just hold tight. It’ll stop.”

🥞 forced proximity

I absolutely loved this book! The pregnancy trope is one of my favorites, especially when it’s written by Devney Perry, and she totally nailed it here. Sasha’s character was so complex, and I loved getting into her struggles. Jax, on the other hand, was just perfect—such an amazing book boyfriend. The chemistry between them was off the charts, and their relationship was just beautiful (I can’t say too much without giving spoilers, though).

Even the side characters’ stories were so interesting, and I found myself wanting to know more about them. Maybe in a future book? 🤭

By the end, I was crying happy tears—it was just so heartwarming.

Huge thanks to Valentine PR and Devney Perry for giving me the chance to read the ARC. This in no way influenced my opinion.

I read Crossroads and immediately fell in love with Haven River Ranch and the Haven boys. Jax and Sasha have the best meet-cute over a grocery-cart related altercation and if he wasn’t Jax Haven, they would’ve probably been dating since that first day. But Jax is a Haven, so Sasha’s “boss” at her new job and Sasha refuses to cross that line. Surprise pregnancy tropes are hit and miss for me, but I feel like Sunlight did a great job with it. The growing feelings between Jax and Sasha were done in a way that made me feel they would’ve gotten to their end game with or without the baby. I was worried that Jax being the town playboy would make me not love him as much as I loved West in Crossroads, but I was so wrong. Watching Jax lose his playboy ways for Sasha was special. Although this book deals with some heavy topics, it was such a great read and anyone who loved Crossroads won’t be disappointed with Sunlight. You will be rooting for Sasha and Jax to get their HEA. If the couple at the end is the next book in the series, I will be so excited!

I am a sucker for accidental pregnancy and Devney Perry so gosh darn it this was a blast. I absolutely love how Devney seemingly tangles a mystery of sorts into each of her stories and I really adds a fun layer to the romance. This one was the identity of Eddie and who he was to Sasha. Jax was a certified lover boy in the best way possible but he and Sasha had a lot holding them back from their relationship from their past that they had to work through. Haven Ranch has a special place in my heart and I hope we get to go back again.

☀️🤠 SUNLIGHT - DEVNEY PERRY ARC REVIEW 🤠☀️

4⭐️
Wow, Devney has done it again. Taken a trope that for me personally is very hit or miss and made it an absolute hit! Sasha gives such black cat energy which I love in a FMC as I can’t tell if I like them or not but then when you find out why they are that way they make complete sense! Jax is your typical cocky, doesn’t take life serious cowboy until you peel back some layers and see how much he really does feel.🫶🏼 This storyline plays out so well it’s so well paced and I had such a good time with it ☀️
Such a good continuation of Crossroads seeing a lot of the much loved characters again & can’t wait to see more of them in the next book which I pray is Emery & Zak’s story because they are gonna be perrrrrfection. 😏

Sunlight releases Oct 15th!

4.5 🌟
I just ate this up in 24 hours and cried my way through the last few chapters.

I absolutely adore Jax and this book was so beautiful in every way. There was emotion, suspense and I loved seeing more of Haven River Ranch, as well as West and Indya. There are strong family elements in the book which I loved. I really enjoyed the exploration of deeper relationships with the other characters outside of the FMC and MMC.

If you don’t know by now I absolutely love the accidental pregnancy trope. I must say this one brought back a little bit of birth trauma for me for a hot minute, which I haven’t ever experienced before in an accidental pregnancy story. BUT when you have cowboy Jax in your corner, I was back to crying happy tears in no time.

“You’re carrying my Josephine. That’s not exactly freeloading.” 😂🫶

I’m still processing how I feel about Eddie and that whole situation.. I also don’t love the last scene with Calvin, and feel like something more needed to happen there. However, I haven’t stopped thinking about this book since I finished it!!

This has so many of my favourite tropes and I would highly recommend reading! (Make sure to read Crossroads first, it will make all the difference)
✨Cowboy Romance
✨Accidental Pregnancy
✨He’s Her Boss
✨Small Town
✨Suspense
✨Found Family

I loved Crossroads and loved the sneak peek of Sunlight at the end, so went into this with such high expectations.

I loved Jax so much, and might have to declare him my new fave Devney MMC. I did love the beginning of this and the tension between Jax and Sasha after their initial meeting and the forced proximity aspect, however there were a few areas which just annoyed me a little.

I felt the secrets that Sasha was keeping dragged on a big and weren't as much of a big deal as she made it out to be - I don't know if it was because I found her quite annoying especially with how she treated Jax the majority of the book and ignoring the time sensitive problem. I also felt like we swept all of Lily's behaviour under the rug and also Jax's grandparents reaction to the news was blown over relatively fast with little conversation. I was expecting more of an emotional tug with both of these so they just didn't hit right with me.

I'd still recommend this one, Jax had so many good moments, and I wanna see where the series goes next after this - I thought I potentially knew who the next couple would be but after the ending I'm a little unsure!

Thank you Devney Perry and Valentine PR for this ARC!

“Babe. Baby. Honey. Beautiful. Sweetheart. Jax didn’t use a single endearment. He used them all. He seemed to tailor them to his mood. Babe, for the normal moments when we were just talking. Honey, when he wanted to be sweet. Baby, when we were in his bed.”

Sunlight is the second book in the Haven River Ranch series. It can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading Crossroads first for a better experience.

The epilogue of Crossroads takes place seven years later, and that's where Sunlight picks up. One random night, Jax Haven steps in to break up a tug-of-war over a shopping cart. Amid this odd encounter, he meets this beautiful woman, someone he sure has never seen in his small town. Completely taken by this pretty stranger, he invites her to dinner, but she politely declines. With his ego bruised, the next day he finally understands what happened: she's Sasha Vaughn, the new manager of Haven River Ranch.

After three months of avoiding each other and denying the attraction they both felt during that first encounter, things finally come to a head. After one too many glasses of champagne at the annual employee party, Sasha lets her guard down around Jax. That’s all the opening he needs to go after what they both clearly want. But what Sasha thought would be a one-time thing quickly becomes way more permanent when she finds out she got pregnant.

Another day, another book I finished in less than 24 hours. I trust Devney with my eyes closed to write the coziest and loveliest books, even when dealing with some heavy topics. Sunlight was no different, I fell head over heels for this story, a truly unputdownable book.

This book beautifully explored the many facets of love—between siblings, partners, parents and children, and friends. It highlighted how love can hurt and even break us, but ultimately, it’s what heals us, brings happiness, and makes us feel invincible.

I also loved the 7-year time jump because Jax is more mature now, very different from the one we met in Crossroads. I couldn't not fall in love with this version of him. One thing you can expect from Devney's MMCs is their unwavering devotion to their significant others, and Jax was no exception. He was completely in love with Sasha and had full faith in their potential together, he was just patiently waiting for her to catch up.

Both Jax and Sasha are layered characters, they're far from perfect—and that's what makes them so relatable. Their little ‘tell me a lie/secret’ game was absolutely perfect, I loved how it was woven throughout the story. And there was one particular moment where it brought me to tears, it was so damn special!

Please, take me to Haven River Ranch!
