I have been looking forward to Henry’s story since I started reading the Marple Hills books. I was not disappointed because I learned so much about him and I feel that Halle was the perfect match for him. I relate to Halle’s character so much because I’m 💯 a people pleaser to my detriment sometimes. I will say I’ve learned to stand on my own to feet running a department especially when it comes to ensuring that my department is running smoothly but for the most part, that is still a big part of who I am. I do feel like this was my least favorite of her books so far (sadly) but because I felt that it was a little more discombobulated but I wonder if that was done intentionally because of Henry’s neurodiversity. Both characters are definitely introverts but they bring out the best in each other and a lot of other people as well. I also absolutely abhorred Halle’s ex and her family’s need to have them still be together…UGH absolute disgust of a man that says things like that to other men. I know men talk but that was absolutely distasteful. One last thing, that scene with the paint was 🥵!!!!!
Loved this installment of the Maple Hills series! I was anxiously awaiting Henry's story and loved the slow burn with Halle Jacobs. This was a sweet fluffy burn with a real life romance where we are normally like wham bam from the beginning, you really felt their depth and love for each other grow. Thank you so much for the ARC! Forever a Hannah Grace stan!
"Daydream" is the highly anticipated 3rd book in Hannah Grace's "Maple Hills" Series. "Daydream" follows Henry Turner, who finds himself as the newly-minted captain of the college hockey team after his mentor Nate graduates. Henry struggles to balance his captaincy and the demands of his classes. And then he crashes Halle Jacobs's book club. Bookish Halle has her own struggles, she's unable to move forward with the novel she is writing because she doesn't have the life experiences she feels she needs to get past her writer's block. While Halle helps tutor Henry for his classes, Henry helps provide Halle with the experiences she needs. But they have to follow the rules they set, including not falling in love.
"Daydream" is by far the deepest and most emotional book in the Maple Hills series. Hannah Grace digs deep with Henry's and Halle's stories. I was so eager to hear Henry's story after having him as a secondary character for the first two books in the series, and "Daydream" definitely delivered.
I enjoyed the characters Henry and Halle, but I wasn't really rooting for them to get together. The book was too long drawing out and hurting their development in a relationship.
I, of course, enjoyed the easter eggs hearing about the prior couples in the Maple Hills series.
I think this author has definitely improved with each book, because I really liked this one! This is my favorite of her series so far, and I also think it was the best plot and writing wise. Henry and Halle’s interactions were entertaining and heartfelt at the same time. I loved when Henry declared them friends and forced Halle to agree that they were already friends. It was cute! My only complaint was that it felt a little too long.
Thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for this ARC!
When I found out this book was going to be Henry’s book I got super excited!!!! I absolutely loved Henry in the last 2 books and we got to see a new side of Henry that both frustrated me, but also made me understand Henry even more. I adored Halle. She truly was the best thing about this book. Her character arc was so unique and I related to her people pleasing tendencies. I loved their relationship even though it felt a little too co-dependent at times. It was still a 4.5/5 stars for me.
I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.
4.25. I just want to hug both of them. Henry the man that you are. MEN read this to get the blueprint on how to communicate thanks. I just wish this was a little bit shorter. But overall Hannah does it again these stories are so freaking cute and so fun. I really did love both of them and was so proud of the growth they both had throughout the book.
I've been obsessed with the whole Maple Hill series and "Daydream" is my absolute favorite. I couldn't get enough of Henry and Halle's unlikely love story and loved this fun story. It couldn't put it down and was so sad when it ended. Please keep the Maple Hill Series going!!
I can't believe I'm saying this, because I absolutely loved the other two books in this series, but I wasn't able to make it all the way through this one. I'm going to put a pin it it and try again at a later time.
I ate this book up over the weekend! I loved hearing Henry’s story and reading about his neurodivergence. I also liked that she chose to not include a formal diagnosis for him. As a neurodivergent I was able to relate to many of Henry’s struggles both in school and socially. Loved the romance and the relationship built between him and Halle. I loved the way they took care of each other which each of their “quirks”. So good and will be recipe ding to all my romance readers. Thank you so much for the opportunity to read.
I loved this addition to the Maple Hills Series! It did a great job discussing the ADHD, Autism, and Mental Health issues college students face. I loved the romance and Hannah Grace always does a great job writing the found family trope!
I thought this book was Hannah Grace's best yet. She pulls herself away from the world of hockey romance really beautifully here. Her story is a romance first, and a sports romance second. It was a very good representation of grief as well, and the third act was for sure her best yet.
Daydream by Hannah Grace is an absolute delight! The characters are wonderfully relatable, and the storyline is both heartwarming and refreshing. Grace’s writing flows effortlessly, making it hard to put down. I loved how the themes of love and self-discovery intertwined beautifully throughout the book. If you’re looking for a cozy, feel-good read that will leave you with a smile, this is definitely the one!
I really didn’t think I was going to like this book at first. It really grew on me the more I kept reading. I love Henry and Halle’s story.
Hannah Grace never misses! I've been waiting for Henry's story since we first met him in Icebreaker and I love the sweet, tender connection between him and Halle. They're perfect for each other and I love their relationship -- Henry is so supportive and wants to go at Halle's pace. While it's kind of a slow burn there are also some very *hot* elements early on. Henry's recordings anyone?! I love it. Halle and Henry are both creatives and each are working through their own issues but are fully supportive of each other and give 100% even if that means giving the other some distance. It just read as a really healthy, mature relationship where each person communicates their needs and/or intuits the other's needs. Halle was very relatable as a people pleaser who just wants everyone to be happy, but forgets that she needs to put herself first and I love how her character develops. Plus, she's a writer so bonus points as I've always loved writing. Henry is neurodivergent which affects his relationships, hockey, and schooling but his support group is huge and once he starts expresses how he's feeling they're all there to help however he needs. The way Henry and Halle just get each other and take care of each other is goals and probably the sweetest romance I've read recently.
I love that this starts off as a deal between Halle and Henry where she'll tutor him and he'll give her the experiences she needs to feel authentic in her writing. It's obvious where it'll lead because it's a romance but it gets me every time(:
At first I wasn't sure I was going to love this one as much as the other two in the Maple Hills series, but that's also how I felt reading Wildfire and I think they're all equally great reads for different reasons so I can't say one is my favorite -- they're all 5 star reads for me!
Thank you so much Atria & NetGalley for the digital ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own. You will definitely want to add this one to your TBR if you haven't already.
My review: 4.5 stars
Thank you to Atria publishing and Netgalley for the e-arc of this title!
Daydream was such a treat to read. Probably one of my favorites in the Maple Hills series. Both characters were incredibly relatable, and I enjoyed how their relationship began. I love a good tutoring trope, and I think Grace did a good job of making her characters realistically fall into these roles.
The mental health awareness in both Henry and Halle was done well, which is not surprising. Hannah Grace does some of the best portrayals of people suffering from anxiety, depression, and other illnesses. Her characters are not perfect; they are flawed just like us making them incredibly relatable.
The only thing holding this story back from a 5 star read was the miscommunication/lack of communication, and "icing out" at the end of the series. I understand these events reflected how Henry reacts in stressful situations, but it was frustrating to me. Maybe it is because I could not relate to Henry in this way, but a month of ignoring seemed far too long for someone you clearly care about.
All in all, I will be recommending people read this series! Although it could be a standalone, I do suggest reading Icebreaker and Wildfire beforehand, as there are characters involved in this story whose backstory you see more in those two prior books. I think having that information is important to understand the interactions between the main characters and them!
It was great to be back in the maple hill! I have been waiting for henry’s story and he was so wholesome to read. Halle was also very relatable with her people pleasing, and they had a very cute and wholesome relationship, but I was waiting for more angst!
Sweet Henry. This book was well worth the wait. I am obsessed with this series but Daydream takes the cake! Thank you so much for the free book.
