MIDNIGHT PURSUITS (KILLER INSTINCTS #4) reunites us with both Jim Morgan's and Noelle's teams - his of the ex-military and deadly mercenaries and her very capable, take care of themselves, chameleons. This time Juliet is running the mission which is personal to her with help from Paige and Ethan, the rookie, before more of Morgan's team and Noelle get involved.

Kennedy's MIDNIGHT PURSUITS are chasing down Russian bad guys that are killing civilians left and right. There's a deviousness to the plot of who, what and why is being targeted that Juliet, Ethan and the others are trying to solve as well as to protect three of those on the uncovered hit list that are in Russia or Spain. The story takes us from Vermont to Russia and Spain as they are trying to stop the murders. The descriptions of Russia and Vermont were so vivid I felt that I was there - the snow, the cold, the mountains, the forests, the buildings and the vehicles. There were tender moments as well as shoot outs, torture, wounds, planning, brainstorming, weapons galore, reminisces and memories that made them who they are, secrets, teamwork, camaraderie, leadership roles and even affection and love. The characters were multifaceted given their profession as mercenaries but even the bad guys and the innocent victims were multifaceted. Juliet and Ethan had heat that was carried over from their previous meetings and encounters and it only got hotter. There was heartache, fear, stupid acts, bravado and an ending to the madness and evil. There was nice closure and a happily ever after in the offing and we'll see how it works out in a future book but we were missing the ramifications of what the evil wrought. The epilogue left me wanting more since Morgan and Noelle are at it again with their taunts and their ever present heat! I'm happy to know I'll be back with the teams not too far in the future!

Kennedy is fast becoming a favorite author since I've now read the first four books in this series and it left me wanting more. I can't wait to read the next books in this series, MIDNIGHT ACTION and MIDNIGHT CAPTIVE, before book seven, MIDNIGHT REVENGE, is released in early 2016. I've added many of her books to my always growing TBR pile since I can't wait to see what the teams are involved in next but also what else she writes.

I rated the book 4.5 stars but rounded to 5 stars here and on other sites.

This is, thus far, my favorite of this series! We see more of the family element here and there's plenty of action to move the plot forward. Not only that but, sparks are definitely flying between Juliet and Ethan.
The book opens up with a bang and it doesn't stop. Juliet and Ethan's romance is a crazy journey but, it's one that's really fleshed out. You see the emotional growth between the two and can pinpoint when their flirting goes from harmless to hitting them right in the feels. At first they seemed world's apart but quickly their chemistry showed them that they're a lot more in sync than they thought.

I loved catching up with old characters and seeing how their romance has advanced, I'm also really intrigued as to where the gang will go next.
