The Couple on the Train is an absolutely addictive read that will have you questioning everything and turning pages long into the night. With its eerie atmosphere, unreliable narration, and heart-pounding twists, this novel is a must-read for fans of Lisa Jewell, Andrea Mara, and Shari Lapena.
The story starts with an unsettling encounter—a woman on a train, held too tightly by a man, leaving behind a desperate note: Help me. Our protagonist is immediately drawn into a mystery that no one else seems to believe, especially given her own troubled past. But as she digs deeper into the woman’s disappearance, the lines between reality and paranoia blur, leading her down a dark and dangerous path.
The tension is masterfully built, with each chapter layering more suspense, eerie coincidences, and unexpected revelations. The pacing is fast and relentless, making it impossible to put down. The protagonist’s backstory adds emotional depth, making her quest feel even more urgent and personal.
As the search for the missing woman intensifies, so do the strange occurrences surrounding our protagonist—shadowy figures, chilling reminders of the past, and an overwhelming sense that someone is always watching. The twists are shocking yet believable, leading to a jaw-dropping finale that ties everything together in the most satisfying (and unsettling) way.
If you love psychological thrillers that play with perception, leave you second-guessing every clue, and keep your heart racing until the final page, The Couple on the Train is the perfect pick.

This is a really original and tightly plotted thriller that had me on the edge of my seat.
Laura is quite an unreliable narrator and seems to have many hidden issues, but what she witnesses on the train, however fleeting, seems to be genuine. I had a really bad feeling about her pursuing this, but she is very tenacious and determined and we are swept into a myriad of lies and plot twists.
I really didn’t see any of the twists coming, the plot is so clever. The pace is fast, and this is a book which will keep you reading late into the night. Highly recommended.

This book was filled with suspense and intrigue. Just when I thought I had it figured out, another twist left me stunned.

From the synopsis of this book I thought it would be right up my street, however, for me to it was slow paced and just didn’t do it for me.

The Couple on the Train had a wonderful blurb and had me invested immediately. For most of the book I enjoyed following Laura’s story and trying to unravel the mystery along with her. The writer had the ability to create and maintain intrigue and tension for the reader. I also loved the little twist at the end which, like any good twist, should be shocking and unpredictable. The ending and reveal of the whole mystery was unfortunately a let down for me. It was just too far fetched and not in any way believable. Also there were a few loose ends which were not tidied up which I am guessing was an oversight by the author. Usually these are always explained to the reader. Overall this book had a terrific premise and was mostly well written. The climax of the book was a bit disappointing after the tense build up.

A slow story told in two POV's and two timelines. I had hoped to enjoy it more but it was only an OK read
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest review

This didn't really do it for me. I found it slow going in places and was starting to lose interest. I kept going though and was surprised at the ending.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for my honest review

"The Couple on the Train" is a fast-paced story that captivated me to the point I couldn't put it down. It was filled with excellent twists and turns that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

I liked this book in the beginning. It was a bit confusing with the time jumps. It just didn't grab my attention as much as other books do but it was an enjoyable read all the same

A gripping read from start to finish - I just couldn’t put it down! I enjoyed the past and present timelines coming together and didn’t see some of the twists coming.

An absolutely fab read. Stunning writing. Great story. Fast paced and thrilling. Do read this one. I very highly recommend.

Quick and easy read that will keep you on your toes!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!

This book is told by 2 POV's and two timelines. We have the past (when laura was young) and present (couple on the train). I really struggled to connect to Laura. I found her to be irritating. The ending was disappointing and I was hoping for so much more.

Just when I thought I had figured out The Couple on the Train, Claire Cooper threw a twist in that I did not see coming.
Since I read so many psych thrillers, I really enjoy it when an author does that.
I was convinced that it was a run-of-the-mill, obvious who the culprit is type book. I should have had more faith in the author.
Not only was I wrong about the perpetrator, but the truth was also so slyly hinted at that I totally missed it.
The story unfolds in “Then” and “Now” chapters, and the transitions are smooth. They’re also evenly spaced out. I didn’t realize until the very end that there was a reason for where each “Then” chapter was placed.
New readers should pay attention to that.
Laura is also an unreliable narrator. It’s unclear through most of the book if she is even mentally stable. No spoilers, but that plays heavily into the resolution…which was one of the more thrilling ones I’ve read in recent memory.
Oh, and stay tuned for the very end. I mean it – read to the last word. Or you’ll miss something important.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Couple on the Train and will be looking for the next psych thriller from Claire Cooper.

I forgot to review! This was a super quick and easy read. It has everything you want from a domestic noir, the twists, the turns, the red herrings. I flew though it and loved every second

Loved this book. I became totally engrossed in the story and had no idea where the story would go.
Fantastic story and what a twist at the end. Shocking!

This storyline is right up my alley. The Couple on the Train is a well written, clever, engaging and suspenseful psychological thriller. Claire Cooper kept me invested until the end to see what happened with Laura.
Thank you, Claire Cooper, Bookouture, & Netgalley for my early copy! All opinions are my own.

I enjoyed this quick, twisty read. I thought I knew where it was heading but there were still a few surprises along the way. This would be an enjoyable read for a beach day or for anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers. I received a free copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

This book is packed with mystery and suspense. I loved the blurred lines of not knowing what was real and what was imagined. I was so anxious to know how everything tied together and with glimpses from the past it makes your mind spin even more. There are shocking revelations and I just when I thought the last twist was revealed more secrets come spilling out. Wow! The ending had me gasping out loud!

I've read several of Cooper's books and The Couple on the Train is my new found favourite.
It had me hooked from the opening chapters and that was it, everything cancelled for the foreseeable as I became so caught up in the plot.
The pace is set from the off and the suspense and tension built the further we neared the penultimate pages for that final killer twist!
Narrated across dual timelines - past and present - Cooper takes us on a twisty thrill ride with Laura, as she begins her investigations into what she saw on the train. Why won't anyone believe her?
