“The couple that slays together, stays together.” Lights Out is what happens when one text leads to living out your deepest fantasies. One of the most surprising elements for me was how much of a cinnamon roll the MMC is despite his unhinged behavior. I also love a fiery FMC, and Aly really showed up for that role as a hardened ER trauma nurse that’s seen and dealt with it all. The plot also kept me on a my toes which I really appreciated. I did not see the different directions it took in the second half of the story, but I appreciate that it kept me fully engaged. I also have to mention the adorable kitty and how much the MMC fully committed to being a cat dad. In general, this gave me the same vibes as The Ruinous Love series. They aren’t similar in terms of plot, but they both straddle the line of dark and humorous, have sizzling chemistry, and fantastic banter. I read this via audiobook and would strongly encourage experiencing it that way. The narrators, Elena Wolfe and Jacob Morgan, really brought the characters to life. Also, the audiobook nailed two key things for me: different narrators for the FMC and MMC as well as duet narration. I’ve found I really love duet narration in these types of reads as it really brings the story to life and really amps up the banter. Make sure to check trigger warnings, but if you’re good with them, I highly recommend checking out the audiobook for Lights Out.

A dark romcom that's packed with kink, humour and the threat of violence.

I love the banter between our main characters. Both Josh and Aly are super likably. Josh is hot, but also funny in a nerdy way, which makes him the perfect book boyfriend. The chemistry is hot and the spice is spicing.

Imaging 💀 Haunting Adeline💀 by HD Carlton, but if both main characters started therapy in their early 20s. That is this book.

If you've read Haunting Adeline you'll remember the (in)famous 🔫💦 scene. That's replicated here with a 🔪 handle, except our stalker (Josh) sanitizes the handle before using and and holds his hand at the bottom of the hilt to protect her.

👩🏽‍⚕️I also love that both our main characters are open about going to therapy.👩🏽‍⚕️ I LOVE when authors add that in. Mental health rep is on point here. 💯

I wished the story was a little tighter and the pacing a little faster. There are a lot of moments of self-reflection/self-talk.

Let's also take a moment to be AMAZED by the duet narration between Lucy Rivers and Jacob Morgan. There is one scene where Jacob moans 'oh fuck' and 📞I might make that my ringtone📞. Lucy was amazing in Butcher & Blackbird and kills it here. Amazing casting all around.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for the advanced listener copy.

This book is best read after reading 3D printing your stalker mask. you'll find so many ideas here.

✨Thoughts✨
A masked man obsessed with a trauma nurse? Color me intrigued! Wow, this audiobook is absolutely steamy! It's a dark romance that also includes some fantastic moments of humor. The story had these unique twists that truly set it apart. Right from the beginning, it had me completely engrossed in the storyline. The concept of the stalker theme was flawlessly executed, keeping me on the edge of my seat throughout. The gradual development of the relationship had a nice slow burn that I couldn't get enough of. Allie and Josh's connection was electric, fueled by their shared penchant for the darker side of life and a genuine understanding of one another.

🎧The duet narration by Elena Wolfe and Jacob Morgan was pure brilliance. Both narrators flawlessly captured the depth of emotion and gave each character a distinctive voice. Their performance was an absolute treat for my ears.

♥︎ Overall, if you're a fan of dark romance, Lights Out will provide you with an exhilarating thrill. You need to listen to this audiobook ASAP!

📚Story review📚
Going into this, I really didn’t know much about what to expect (apparently I missed the TikTok bus), but I freaking loved it! Was it darker, stalkery, murderish, and kinky? Yep. But there really was some fantastic character building and humor, banter, and plot that hooked me hard and kept me nailed to this book until the end. Josh is really a lot more complex than I ever would have expected, and Alley has her fair share of secrets.

Brilliant and hard-bodied, caring and such a gone little stalker for her, Josh’s character development is exceptional. Alley is the most devoted and compassionate nurse, snarky, and fierce. They both find home in each other, and I enjoyed every single laugh-out-loud moment, witty snarky sarcastic comment, the suspenseful edge, and the steamy kinky tomfoolery and vigilante justice between these two. This one was everything I didn’t know I needed!

🎧❤️Audio Review❤️🎧
I can’t imagine how much fun these two had bringing this duet audio to life! We got some great accent work from both, with a few fun side characters including a mobster, and I loved Jacob's deep fake “Batman” voice when the character misplaces his voice modulator—a fun Jacob Morgan twist. Elena perfectly embodied all of Alley’s sass, compassion, and fire. She’s always such a treat to listen to! Jacob had all the humorous perfection he brings to his narrations, and I really can’t think of a better casting for either role. I freaking loved this audio and very much recommend it!

Thank you to author Navessa Allen, Dreamscape select, and NetGalley for this listen. It was truly my pleasure!

**These are my own honest thoughts that I have provided voluntarily.

"Don't lie you're having just as much fun as I am, Aly"

• Masked MMC with golden retriever energy
• Hilarious banter
• MMC who st@lks her
• A strong FMC with unusual k*nks
• Zero damsel in distress energy
• Cyber genius
• Tr@uma nurse
• A cat with a huge personality
• He's her ex-hook *ps roommate
• Accidental murder
• Pr*mal play
• Kn*fe play

This book was such a INCREDIBLE!! I took off the second the book starred! And I absolutely devoured it. I couldn't put it stop. I put off so much sleep to finish this book! And IT 👏 WAS 👏 WORTH 👏 IT 👏

I'm such a huge fan of a dark romance. BUT this book was so much more. I didn't know I would like a dark humor as much as I liked this book! Nevessa's writing was so well done. I felt like I could see everything she was writing. She gave us the BEST inner dialogue I have read in such a long time. It was hilarious! It was perfect.

》Aly works as a busy trauma never knowing what work will bring. She leaves work most days dead on her feet. So the last thing she has time for is hook ups. Instead she has her fantasies to help get the deed done. Fantasies she tried to get her ex hookup to act out with her. So she spends her weeks waiting for her favorite masked man to drop his weekly video. What she doesn't expect is for the man she's been lusting over to also have been lusting after her as well. And he knows far too much about her...

"This man was always coming on to my FYP and never on me"

I absolutely loved these two characters.

Their playful banter back and forth had me cracking up! They were both total smart@*s*s!

She pushed and he pulled. Then she pushed and he pulled again! THEN THIS MAN JUST CLAIMED. 👏👏

"After that I'm coming for you baby. Whether you're ready or not. Until then I'll be watching"

And he was obsessed!!!!

"Aly in her villain Era I would bankrupt myself with front row tickets to that show"

But she was equally as obsessed!!!

"The way I would crawl to him"

》Things that made me laughing out loud:

• LOL 😆

• Josh calling her cat their son and joking about a custody agreement

• "Mommy and Daddy time"

• When she stabbed him in the hand while she was giving him h**d

• His inner dialogue during every k*nk she unlocked for him. "Maybe I had an Aly Kink"

• Josh talk to Fred! 🤣 🤣

• Her cracking jokes after discovering they killed a man on accident

• The Gilmore Girl references

I can't wait to read more from this Author. I can't get over how amazing her writing is! The plot was great! But her descriptions, world building, character development, and inner dialogue blew me away! I also feel like it's worth mentioning that yes, there is 100% spice, but it was so well balanced. Sometimes in dark romance books it's just seems overdone (imo) and it takes away from the plot. The plot did not take a backseat at all for the spice at all!! 👏

"It wasn't that I didn't think it was worthy of love i just couldnt believe that I had gotten so lucky that she was the one who loved me"

》Audio review:
This audiobook was done in duet!! And D**NNNN! HOT HOT HOT D**NNNN!! I'm so thankful I had the opportunity to listen to this book in audiobook form! . These narrators nailed it. Together these two delivered such a hilariously twisted spicy performance!!! @elenawolfe killed it as Aly. She brought her character to life flawlessly with her sweet and sexy voice. I'm convinced there couldn't have been a better Aly. AND @therealjacobmorgan !! This man! My gosh! He DELIVERED during this audiobook!! The whispers. The growly voice. The hilarious inner dialogue where he talked himself out of things had me cracking UP!!! AND swooning all at the same time. And ahhhhhh!!! 😮😵🥵 Me the second Jacob Morgan's voice came through with the Voice Modulator!!! OH MY GOSH!!!!!!! Dead. Absolutely DEAD! 💓 This audiobook couldn't have been better!!! 👏👏👏

I loved this book as an ARC and the audiobook did not disappoint!!

Lights Out is a dark, spicy romance. Aly is a trauma nurse who has a particular interest in tattooed, shirtless guys in Scream masks on TikTok. Little does she know, she has a connection to her favorite TikToker.

Pick this up if you like:
- Butcher & Blackbird
- dark romance
- spice
- protective trope

I highly recommend the audiobook. It's performed in duet which is my new favorite thing for romance books. The narrators are excellent.

Oh my god this book. I’m so in love! I could not stop listening to this audiobook. The narrators were perfect and made the book that much better! I’m just starting to get into dark romance and I cannot stop thinking about this book! I loved how protective Aly and Josh were of each other and their banter and chemistry was so good!

Thank you, Netgalley, Publisher, and Author, for giving me the opportunity to listen to this e-audiobook arc. I've previously read "Lights Out" when it first got published, so I was really excited to get a chance to listen to the audiobook!

In terms of the audiobook performance, I thought Elena and Jacob did a fantastic job. Dual POV made the plot a bit more interesting. It really brought the life to the story. Originally, when I was reading the story, it was a bit of a struggle. Personally, for me the spice was fine. This book was my first stalker romance and while I had an idea going into it. The second half of the story kind of threw me on a loop. E.g Mafia ties just came out of no where at least for me. However, I can see the appeal of the genre for someone looking for it. Overall, it was a something different from my usual romance books but glad I still gave it a go.

I absolutely loved this book. I’ve been in a slump and needed something different to get me out of it. Loved the main characters and the humor threaded through the dark, spicy story. A lot of spicy books have terrible storylines, but this held my attention the entire time. The Aly and Josh relationship and the build up was spot on. Perfect for fans of books like Butcher & Blackbird. The duet narration flowed so well. The only thing that I didn’t love was the overuse of “boyfriend” and “girlfriend”, but not enough to deter me. Many thanks to NetGalley for this opportunity! Will be looking for more from Navessa Allen!

This book has been on my "need to read" list since I heard of it and I was so excited to see the audio was coming out. Added, that it is performed as a dual narration with these amazing narrators was absolutely perfect.
The story was witty, sexy, and dark. Masked content creator with a dark past, turned stalker meets an overworked nurse with a small obsession with masks and a mysterious, sexy, tattooed content creator she follows online. I found myself laughing a lot more then I expected while listening to this. The TW at the beginning even made me giggle with the way they read them. Aly and Josh found their other half in an unconventional way but it made them happy, even with a few bumps along the way and a feline son who guilt trips them. Fantastic book and audio.

I loved the audio for this book! I absolutely love dual narrated romance books and I felt the narrators were great! Their reading of the triggers at the beginning were my favorite! So much character in them! This was so easy to listen to and absorb the book! Great book and great audiobook!

Um, well, don’t judge me, but I loved this. I listened to the audiobook version of this book and I squealed with excitement when I heard Jacob Morgan (aka Zachary Webber’s spicy alter ego) begin to narrate it. Not only is he my favorite narrator of all time, but the duet with Elena Wolfe was just fabulous for this story. This book had major Butcher & Blackbird vibes, and I totally loved it! I laughed out loud so many times and the book actually was very plot driven instead of just being smut. I kinda adored the narrators giggling and trolling us with the content warnings, so make sure to check those out first so you know what you’re getting yourself into.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this audiobook!

Possibly the first time a stalker romance had me kicking my feet giggling 🤣😍

I can't adequately put into words how much I LOVEEEEEED this book!! But I mean, really, who *doesn't* have a lil' masked man obsession?

Thank you so much to Netgalley, Dreamscape and Navessa Allen for my ALC!! The narrators were PHENOMENAL and added so much to the story.

5 stars to infinity, a total must read!

OMG!!! This book was such a perfect blend of fluffy, dark, funny, and witty. Such great and lovable characters that felt multidimensional and a story that will forever be stuck in my head as probably the best dark rom-com thriller of this year.

Having previously read Lights Out and loved it, I jumped at the opportunity to hear Elena Wolfe and Jacob Morgan bring Aly and Josh to life, and I was not disappointed at all. If anything I think their narration bumped the story from a solid 4 to 5 stars for me!

Lights Out was a fun, darkish book about two people with the same kink. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this book. The banter between Aly and Josh was fun and aside from the darker aspect of the book, it had some sweet romance to it too. I think if the MCs hadn't been as sweet or funny the book would have been a tad too dark for me. The audiobook was done in true dual narration style, with the male narrator speaking all the male parts and the female narrator speaking all the female parts. I would HIGHLY recommend the audiobook version. Elena Wolfe and Jacob Morgan are two of my favorite narrators, doing a great job and making the book that much more enjoyable.

There are several trigger warnings for this book, but the actual 'dark' part for me wasn't in the smut/kink factor but in a the 'horror' aspect of the book. Unfortunately without that 'dark' part of the story, there wasn't much of a plot, just smut.

This was my first Navessa Allen book and I enjoyed her writing style. It was easy to read and the 🌷 🍆 💦 scenes were entertaining and 🌶️ 🥵 . I would be interested in reading other books by her.

Overall, this was a pretty decent book, not one I'll be recommending to my mom, but if you like your smut on the darker side and can handle the other trigger warnings, this is a well-written and fun book.

Lights Out was such an amusing dark romantic comedy. I honestly just had such a fun time with this book. I was able to listen to the audiobook and the duet style narration was incredible and made this book a hundred times more entertaining.

It’s dual POVs of the main characters, Ally and Josh, and there are some great tropes like, a dark romance, he falls first, hidden identity of sorts, and an obsessive hero. I would recommend checking the content and trigger warnings before reading just in case.

The overall premise was quite lighthearted to be honest. While, there were some very intense and dark moments the story was still very much upbeat and funny. There were also some charming, heartfelt, and steamy moments.

The first half of the story was definitely my favorite part, the second half though did feel a bit out of left-field with the mafia subplot but I was still thoroughly entertained. There were a few slow-paced and predictable moments as well.

The romance between the main characters was intense, kinky, and dark. I just loved how unhinged and obsessed the hero was with the heroine. His love for her and her cat was actually really sweet and he was honestly just a masked golden retriever. Their banter was probably one of my favorite aspects, there were just moments that made me laugh out loud. The spice was also incredible, the consent and communication about their preferences and kinks was perfect.

There was no third act breakup, which I appreciated. The last few chapters were intense but a bit rushed. I would have liked just a bit more resolution on certain subplots. But the conclusion was perfect.

Overall, just a dark, steamy and amusing read that I would highly recommend listening to the audio version.
