This book was well researched and well presented, including healthy body tools and definitions segmented out for ease of comprehension and action.
I really appreciated the explicit acknowledgements of what this did and did NOT cover and WHY. As a trans parent raising a daughter it was good to know what the current research says and why they are focusing on the gendered mother-daughter relationship rather than expanding out. Fathers and caregivers were talked about and body issues related to boys, men, and gender diverse children were noted helping to fill in the gaps left by specializing in this topic.
The questions and activities throughout caused a good amount of reflection and was separate from any judgement people may feel when asked to confront their bodies. Overall I feel like I know the root of why suggestions were made and understand better how to approach my developing child.
As soon as I found out that we were having a girl, I got nervous. This is a fully different world from when I grew up. My daughter has to navigate social media, bullies, etc...things that I never dreamed about. This book is brilliant. I have a hard time not talking about my own body insecurities around her. This book gave me a full toolbox to help my daughter be strong and confident in who she is.
