This book is perfect for fans of drag and want to know more about the culture, history, and how it is celebrated in various countries.
This was a fascinating read and I learned a lot more about the history of drag that has given me a greater appreciation for how hard and long it took for it to become more mainstream. While drag and the 2SLGBTQI+ community continue to fight to make strides in society today, there has been a lot of progress and much to celebrate, while honouring the past and those who suffered.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about how drag is practiced in difference countries - the trends, the histories. It really goes to show that there is no one universal or 'right' way to do drag and that it is really quite limitless.
While there were many references to RuPaul's Drag Race and it's impact on and inclusion in mainstream culture, the book goes well beyond that, using the popularity of the show as a launching point to bring the reader into the other aspects of drag community and culture.
Really well done and the photographs included only served to highlight and complement the text.
Thanks to the publisher for the eARC; all opinions are my own.

Really fun book but the digital arc does not do it justice. Will definitely be getting a physical copy when this gets released.

An interesting look at counter culture fashion in an age that is starting to acknowledge humanity isn’t binary.

*Received as a free ARC*
Absolutely spectacular world history of drag. A little shallow in places, but with so many different regions represented, it had to be. That being said, clearly each chapter could have been a full book. Absolutely fascinating. Very readable and excellent images included.

Beautiful book giving history of drag and Drag Queens around the world. I loved the photos and illustrations so much. I love learning the history of anything interesting and for me drag is one of the most interesting things in the world. I love it as a form of self expression, I love it as an art form, I love it's mere existence. I love that it can bring people together and teach acceptance. Thank you for the pleasure of reading this beautiful book.

Beautiful and stunning book that is perfect for fans of drag or those wanting to get into it!
If there was ever a need for there to be a "Bible" for Drag, I would recommend this as a contender.
Absolutely loved it and the photography is amazing.

Absolute fan of drag and this book. Beautiful beautiful drag kings and queens throughout the world are shown here by country and region. Drag is so fun and expressive. Would recommend this as an accessible option for those wondering what drag even is.

As someone whose only exposure to drag is the first dozen seasons of Drag Race (I unfortunately live in a pretty Conservative area) this was entertaining, informative, and eye-opening. The rich text was supplemented with beautiful photographs and I devoured it in an afternoon.
Thank you to NetGalley and White Lion Publishing for the digital ARC in exchange for an honest review..

Oh my gosh, the picturesss! This book is everything, I cannot wait to get a copy for my shelf. Drag is such a beautiful art form but I love that all the of the different histories, good and difficult, are included! Really enjoyed this one

A detailed book on everything drag. The ebook does not do it full justice.
I liked the geographically-themed structure and found this book entertaining and informative.

"Planet Drag" is truly for the hardcore drag fans and people who are interested in expanding their knowledge of drag history. I loved picking it up and flicking through a few essays at a time!
It breaks down drag history by culture, with each section taking a deep dive into a country and its history of drag. Although I'm a big fan of drag, I've never taken the time to learn about how cultures outside of my own differ with their history and how it impacts local drag today, and I found this topic very interesting. Each section is written by someone from that culture, giving a first-hand perspective of how these events have impacted modern drag.
The photography is also absolutely beautiful, some of the images blew me away!
It's not one I was engrossed enough to read and not want to put down, but it is great if you enjoy dipping in to a section at a time and reading an essay or two as you go. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't have any interest in drag history as there is not much focus on modern-day drag. However, if you're a fan of drag and want to dip your toes into its history and how drag has become what it is today, this is a great place to start!

Lavishly photographed and rich in luscious detail, this History of Drag Culture is illuminating and revealing. Useful for both aficionados and those who are less cognizant of the vast extent of Drag Culture, this volume will provide an eye-opening and affirmative education as well as being an attractive addition to a stylish bookshelf or coffee table.
