Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. What a great book! It's spicy and cute and everything I want in a holiday story.
If I could crawl into a magical world it would definitely be Yule. I love this series so much and love the beautiful world that Callaghan has created with a fresh spin on the North Pole. I really like Juliet and thought she was a great character. Her and Margot have a fantastic friendship and I liked how genuine they felt. Will was a delight and I loved the connection between him and Juliet. I liked that this one had some mystery and family drama in it. I'm not even sure how i went from cozy to terrified to sobbing hysterical happy tears all in under 5 min, but I definitely did! I can't wait to see what else is in store for the characters from Yule and what more mischief they will get into!
overall i really enjoyed this book. I loved how characters from the preivous book were still in this book. The tension between juliet and will was great. I enjoy how the town of Yule is it's own organism. That it has its own history and character and like a living organism it is in the process of changing and evolving.
I will keep this short and sweet. I was so excited to see this advertised on instagram and raced to get a copy on NetGalley. Thank you!! So glad I did.
I raced through this cute and cozy romance in a few nights on my Kindle. It's the perfect book for the holidays, being not too complicated but also so much fun. There are enough important plot pieces to keep the reader engaged, especially since the main puzzle piece revolves around Juliet never really knowing what happened to her mom and family when she was young. Why did her grandfather always treat her so poorly? Why did her grandmother leave her this chest and hide it from her? And who exactly is Will?
I did not read the first book in the series but I can say that it works as a standalone. It reminded me of "the Santa Claus" movie with Tim Allen, and him learning that the North Pole was in fact, a real place. I enjoyed so many things - the growing affection between Will and Juliet, the continued mystery of why the Frost family was banished and where her mother was, the funny banter between Juliet and her best friend, and all the 'sugar plum' imagery that came to my head as I tried to fathom what Yule would look like. I'll definitely be looking for the other books in this series, and following Kate Callaghan from here on out!
Definitely add it to your holiday TBR!
An original Christmas storyline for the WIN! I love cozy holiday romances, but it is hard to find original stories. Katie Callaghan did a great job writing something unique for those of us that love cozy Christmas books but crazy something unique.
I adored Yule, loved all the characters, and appreciated the little bit of spice peppered into the storyline. Will and Juliet were adorable.
I am excited to read more by this author and step back into Yule!
Thanks to CallaghanWriter and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first time reading Kate Callaghan and although this is book 2 in the Village of Yule series, it was fine to read as a standalone. This was a cute holiday read and a nice way to start of the season with lots of my favorite tropes. In the beginning, I found it a little difficult to get hooked into the story, but it was definitely worth reading until the end. There are a lot of little plot twists and so much to Juliet's background that brings the story together nicely. I really liked Will's character and his hidden identity charm and all the side characters introduced throughout the book. I will definitely be going back to read book 1 to find out Lyla and Mason's story and the rest of the magic the village of Yule offers.
Thank you to the author and NetGalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review. #TisTheSeasonForSecrets #NetGalley
A cute holiday read with magical realism and dual POVs! Although it is the second installment of the series, it can be read as a standalone. It's a forbidden romance which starts as a one night stand, but the MCs just can't stay apart from each other. I recommend it to romance fans who want a quick and fun read!
Cute holiday book that gave hard vibes of christmas. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for this free eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
This was such a really cute holiday read. I never read the first book, but will happily be reading it now as I absolutely loved the town of Yule and all of the characters!
This is hands down such a magical cute Xmas story! I absolutely love Will and Juliet 💜 And this forbidden romance 💜
It’s as nearly perfect story, just the ending… I wish I’d gotten a bit more closure!
Starts out with a spicy one night stand! Juliet and Will meet and many holiday adventures ensue. Their relationship is sweet and steamy, and it was so fun to return to the land of Yule in this sequel to The Naughty or Nice Clause. I recommend this festive read! Do note that a major theme of the book involves toxic family relationships. There is a lovely resolution and finding family by the end, however. Be ready to crave hot chocolate and peppermint mochas as you read! :)
A fun festive read. Juliet meets Will at a party, but all is not as it seems. There are a lot of secrets being kept, so what will happen when she finds out her past and how Will is involved. I liked how it was told from both points of view.
"'Tis The Season For Secrets" is a delightful holiday romance brimming with charm, intrigue, and just the right amount of festive magic. The story follows Juliet Frost, an aspiring editor whose discovery of a family chest leads her into a whirlwind of revelations about her heritage, her connection to the enchanting Christmas village of Yule, and her own tangled love story.
The plot masterfully intertwines heartwarming holiday tropes like winter wonderlands and family secrets with romantic themes such as a one-night stand and forced proximity. Juliet’s journey of self-discovery becomes even more compelling when Will Duncan, her mysterious former lover, re-enters her life, bringing answers—and more questions—about her past. Their dynamic crackles with tension, as Juliet navigates between trust and suspicion, adding emotional depth to the festive backdrop.
Callaghan’s writing is immersive yet light, making it the perfect companion for cozy evenings with a cup of hot cocoa. The blend of romance, whimsy, and a sprinkle of fantasy keeps readers captivated, while the guaranteed happily-ever-after ensures a satisfying conclusion.
Though this is the second book in the *Village of Yule* series, it stands well on its own, but prior knowledge from *The Naughty Or Nice Clause* might enhance the experience. With its blend of mystery and romance wrapped in holiday cheer, *'Tis The Season For Secrets* is a perfect pick for fans of seasonal love stories.
A cozy, enchanting read that’s ideal for lovers of holiday romances and magical winter escapades.
My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️
In Short: Fun, cute holiday read.
General Thoughts: Continuing with my holiday novella/novel kick as of late, I finally knocked this one out. I recently read the first interconnected standalone in this series, so I was curious where the author would go with this one. You can jump in here, though the prior characters do make some cameos.
This was an enjoyable, fun Christmas read with a pretty original idea. I wish certain things had been developed more, but I thought it was a fun read all the same. Curious to see what happens in the next one.

This was a ARC
This is a Christmas movie in a book basically. And it’s fun to read. It’s very soft, is very cute.
The end felt a little bit anticlimactic like everything happened so fast.
Readers who enjoy romance, magical realism, and stories about self-discovery, family secrets, and second chances will be enchanted by 'Tis the Season for Secrets, a whimsical and captivating tale of love, identity, and finding one's true place in the world.
Thank you to Netgalley, Kate Callaghan and the publisher for giving me an e-arc to read for a review.
What a way to get you into the Christmas spirit! This is the second book in the Village of Yule series however it can be read as a standalone but be warned, you will meet the characters in book one and they do have a semi recurring role throughout this book.
Juliet and Will had such great chemistry of characters and it’s great to explore even further the laws of Yule whilst watching one of them unfold before your eyes. Juliet is raised in the ‘real world’ and Will is a Guardian of Yule (the hidden North Pole) tasked with revealing Juliet’s family history and ultimately, helping her meet her estranged mum who had to give her up.
This is in some ways quite an emotional book that deals with abandonment, an estranged family dynamic where there’s a lot of lies, betrayal and blackmailing and also the realisation of everything you know comes crashing down.
I think Kate did a great job in seeing these issues through the book and in some ways resolving them to a degree, however I do feel as if there are a lot of questions that were left unanswered at the end of the book, mainly to do with Juliet’s Frost family.
I did however really enjoy the relationship between Juliet and Will, although I did feel he was kind of just chasing her around a lot which got a bit boring. I would have liked to have seen more authority from him considering his job role.
I also really liked the return to Yule, Kate has such a great way of expanding the city and really giving great details of it and adding even more to the Christmas magic!
Overall, this is a good read for this time of year, it’s easy to read, is paced relatively well, has an easy to follow plot and likeable characters! Would recommend!
I loved reading this book! It’s the perfect Christmas read and I recommend it to those looking for a book full of mystery, spice, plot, mixed with holiday spirit.
I really enjoyed this story with Juliet. She is discovering so much about her past and history. I really was invested in how she was processing everything and moving forward. And Will from her past seems to have a lot of answers. This was a great story.
Christmas magic once again, being back in the world with Yule was outstanding!
I loved Jill and Will's story, getting the dual POV was wonderful, because it gave you both sides of what was happening and the struggles internally they were each having. I enjoyed how Jill was strong in holding her own / paving her own way in life, and how she questioned Will's motivation once it all started to happen. I was worried that she would just look over it, but that isn't who her character is. You could also tell that Will was way out of his league, the struggle to do the right thing by Jill and by Yule it helped the story alot.
This story was the perfect mix of spicy, fun, emotions, and holiday magic that you want in a Christmas read.
