Concept is nice to show the facts from the city of California that some good teacher back then in 1979 started to celebrate the 100 days of initial learning of children in school to make them more enthusiastic about education. I liked the way Author express a child's excitement to celebrate her first 100 days of learning at her school.
I suggest we should start doing this in India also, as currently this is not in run here in schools. However, there are many more interactive and intriguing activities which make them learn way better but I say, this will be an adventure and add-on activity to make them gather their learning and prepare for future course of actions too.
In addition, what I found lacking or needing corrections is on first hand, where Yasmin's teacher announced that “To celebrate, I brought one hundred treats! Happy 100th Day of School!”, there the illustrations required to show more children as the treat is on large level, an equal celebration. Secondly, why Yasmin was at her Maternal Grandparents house while being at school and living with her parents there too? Why not paternal grandparents shown as per society standards? Children observe such little things and learn that way only.
Apart from this all, the 'Did you know?' and 'Glossary' section were surely help young readers to learn things. Illustrations were also vibrant, colorful and worth appreciation. I appraise Debby more than Saadia as she brought up those all required emotions and expressions so lively with her art.
For me it is 4.0/5.0
