This was such an intense and twisty thriller! Just when I thought I had things figured out, I was hit with a twist that threw everything I thought I know right out the window. I doubted myself over and over again. I couldn't figure out who was telling the truth and who was lying. This audiobook had me gripped from the start. The entertaining plot developed at a fast pace and kept me on the edge of my seat. I have truly enjoyed everything I've read by Nicola Sanders. This book did not disappoint!
Jodie Harris did a great job with the narration. She played all of the characters effortlessly and kept the suspense high.
Thank you Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.
The psychological thriller Don't Believe Her by Nicola Sander and narrated by Jodie Harris was…. well…. a lot. Like excessive a lot by the end.
Ellie, a once single-mom, is engaged to her long-time crush, Nick. Ellie’s best friend, Carla, who is Nick’s sister, went missing when they were teens. Ellie has never gotten over the disappearance.
Ellie is thrilled when Nick tells her that they have found Carla. But, when Carla shows up, something seems off, and Ellie is determined to figure out if this is truly Carla or someone impersonating her.
The book has a good premise but veers wildly off the tracks about 70% in and I almost put it down. So much craziness. Twists and turns. Seemed very unbelievable (I guess it is fiction, right?). But the mom. Nick. Oh my goodness. It’s just too much.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the advance audio copy in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Ellie's best friend Carla shows up at her childhood home. after running away and going missing 12 years ago. Ellie has now moved in with Carla's mother and is engaged to her brother. They welcome Carla back with open arms, but Ellie is convinced that this adult Carla is an imposter...
I seriously considered DNFing this book about halfway through because the amount of gaslighting happening was INSANE and every other sentence out of Ellie's mouth was "iT's NoT hEr" like yes, ok, we know. So annoying 🤣 but there were so many positive reviews here that I wanted to stick with it. I'm glad I did because it was a wild ride. This is your typical domestic thriller which I used to devour. I haven't read any Frieda McFadden but I get the impression that this is a similar style so definitely check this out if you like her.
Audio was great quality and I liked the narrator.
3.5 stars.
Thanks netgalley and publisher for the chance to read this book for free in return for my honest opinion.
I like Nicole Sanders books because they always keep you guessing and you think you’ve figured it out but then you find out you weren’t even close..
Ellie is convinced Carla who came back into her life isn’t who she says she is. She knows her best friend and she knows that this Carla is a fraud but nobody else believes her and she’s stuck on this wild ride.
I enjoy listening to her books on audiobooks, so I was happy to get this audiobook.
Audiobook review - Jodie Harris is a clever narrator that offers the listener a depth of tones and immerses you in the characters which will have you wanting more. This twisted psychological thriller makes for an interesting listen and the way your emotions to and fro between belief and distrust offer you a questioning mindset on human nature!
I really loved this one! At first I thought it was not going to. E too high up on my favorites list for the year but the last quarter really changed that. Fair warning though, the first three quarters or so is extremely frustrating between the content and the characters themselves; I very frequently found myself wanting to hit my head against a wall. But, in my opinion, the frustration was worth it. When the twist happened I audibly reacted in shock and immediately knew my review would change entirely. I definitely will be recommending this to others.
This was quite a wild ride. It was incredibly frustrating as well - is it her or not?! Kept me going as I had to find out and get the "real" story!
This is my first book by Nicola Sanders that Ive had the pleasure to read and I'll definitely be looking out for more by this author. Don't Believe Her is a psychological domestic thriller which leads you down a path and then does total U Turn back down another way. I really enjoyed all the foreshadowing in the plot line which felt medium paced and engaging. The pay off at the end was tense and left me on the edge of my seat
If you like twisty thrillers, this will definitely twist your brains!
The audiobook is narrated by Jodie Harris who has a great voice for this type of book

4.25 stars for Storygraph, 4 stars for other review sites
This book was quite interesting and the story line was good. For a lot of the book I really thought the book should be called, “It’s Not Her!” Haha, once you read or listen to it you will get that. It was good overall and I’d recommend it.
3.5 stars This was an entertaining domestic thriller with some fun curve balls at the end. As far as popcorn thrillers go, this one had it all - a fast pace, shallow characters, gaslighting, deception, and secret ploys. Oh yeah, did I mention murder?
I sped through this audiobook, enjoying the crazy while rolling my eyes at the farfetched twists. Similar to this author's other novel Don't Let Her Stay, the MC Ellie finds herself in a bind when her long lost bestfriend finally resurfaces twenty years after running away. Only Ellie knows that this is not the real Carly by some tells that the real Carly would know. However, as Ellie tries to make her suspicions known to her boyfriend (Carly's brother) and mother-in-law, no one believes her.
The trope was not new, nor was it complex, but it was quite the ride. What bumped my star rating up was the humor. I laughed out loud several times at some of the witty lines. Ellie's daughter was also named Carla so there was Carla and Pretend Carla, which I also thought was quite funny as the plot unfolded.
The audio narrator did a wonderful job with her dynamic and emotional performance. Her male voice was a hoot and really brought out that character's personality.
I absolutely recommend to readers who enjoy thrillers that are a light, surface read and okay with the OTT element.
Thank you #NetGalley and #DrramScapeMedia for an audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
Loved this one! I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was a perfect fit. This book was full of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming! Highly recommend!

Don’t Believe her by Nicola Sanders
Ella’s best friend left home and hasn’t contacted her since and she cannot get over that fact. She has kept searching for years… When she runs into her brother years later, sparks fly and she moves in with him with her daughter… All of sudden Carla returns but she remembers her friendship with Ella very differently…
OMG this book had me whipping around like a damn kitchenaid mixer!!! Ella has memories of her and Carla being the best of best friends. Carla upon returning says that she actually wanted nothing to do with Ella and she only let her hang around because she had lost her mother. Ella doesn’t believe it's Carla but Carla’s mother and brother don’t agree. You never know who to trust!
One minute I don’t trust Ella, then I don’t trust Carla and then I don’t trust the brother… I was like FRACKKKK I don’t know what's what! My hands were shaking and my heart was pounding….
The ending had me literally shrieking!!!
Those with heart conditions might want to give this a miss!!

Two best friends, Carla and Ellie, are separated years ago as Carla took off and Ellie didn’t know where she was. Ellie is now engaged to Carla’s brother and one day, Carla returns. Or did she? Ellie doesn’t believe it for a minute. She knows there is something wrong with Carla, or whoever this woman is who has returned.
The plot has been done before, but Sanders gives us a few extra little twists to wrack our brains with this one! This psychological thriller is perfect for spooky season reading but I will take a thriller like this any time of year! I liked this one and the narrator hit the mark with the characters and what I thought they should sound like. Great voice narration by Jodie Harris.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ARC of this book.
I'm stuck in a like-hate relationship with "Don't Believe Her" by Nicola Sanders.
The story follows Ella, whose perfect life unravels when her best friend and Nick's sister returns, turning her world upside down. As Ella navigates this new dynamic, secrets and lies surface, threatening to upend her relationships and sense of self. But can she trust her instincts or is she losing it?
Ella's impulsive decisions left me shouting, "Girl, get a grip!" Her lack of critical thinking had me eye-rolling so hard I thought they'd get stuck. And Nick, her fiancé? About as exciting as a plain cracker.
The big twist? Saw it coming a mile away. No jaw-dropping, just a shruggy "meh."
Despite the eye-rolling, if you're in the mood for something slightly dramatic and incredibly absurd, "Don't Believe Her" is a must.
Don't Believe Her by Nicola Sanders ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book is one of my favorite reads of 2024!
When I say twisty, I mean TWISTY/suspense brilliant writing. The unreliable narrator aspect and unlikeable characters had me hooked!
12 years ago, Ellies best friend, Carla, went missing. Ellie has never given up hope Carla would be found safe. Now, a woman claiming to be Carla has returned. The problem is, Ellie doesn’t believe she’s truly her best friend. she begins to question Carla. Who is she truly and why doesn’t anyone believer her?
Thank you for the ARC. The narration was amazing as well.
This twisty psychological thriller is entertaining, but very far fetched. Most times I’m okay with that, but I also found parts of it repetitive and it felt a little longer than it needed to be. Jodie Harris does well in the narration of the audiobook production.
This book was full of twists. I think that the characters were pretty believable. I did not expect the way it ended. I really liked how the author got into some of the psychology of why people do what they do. All in all I really enjoyed this book I think that, anyone who likes family drama, and thrillers would enjoy this book. I found myself emotion, frustration, anger throughout the book. The feeling that our main character was not able to communicate army heard made me feel uncomfortable. The other did a great job of helping you feel what she felt.
Ellie's life seems perfect—she has a beautiful daughter and is engaged to her longtime love, Nick. However, everything changes when Nick's long-lost sister, Carla, returns after years of being missing. While everyone else is excited, Ellie starts to notice strange behaviors in Carla that make her suspicious. Despite her concerns, no one takes her seriously until she uncovers the shocking truth: Carla is not who she appears to be.
This book surpassed all my expectations! A fast-paced and thrilling storyline filled with tension and constant surprises kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. When the twists came, I was completely shocked! It left me guessing all the way through.
From the moment I started listening to this audiobook, I was completely captivated and couldn’t bring myself to stop. The narrator’s performance is thoroughly mesmerizing and was the perfect choice for this book. She has a way of engaging the listener and making them literally feel the tension. It was an utterly riveting experience!
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to preview this ALC. All opinions expressed are my own.
There were many elements in this novel that I LOVED like the moments of surprise, drama, family and friend dynamics, questionable motives and TWISTS! I predicted most of the where the story was headed pretty early on, and as a whole, I struggled with the believability and depth of the main characters.
I’d give this book a 3.5 rating but rounded up to a 4 star rating. Thank you Netgalley for the early copy audiobook
