Ethan lives alone in the storybook resort he and his ex-wife built for their daughter. His ex has turned their idea into an empire and is too busy to do anything other than run that empire, so when their daughter wants a sweet 16 weekend with her friends at her dad's resort, she sends her executive assistant to do the work. Taylor is more than capable of preparing the resort for the best party ever, except he probably shouldn't be flirting with the birthday girl's mountain man father. Their fling might be forbidden, but can it still have a happily ever after?
I love both Ethan and Taylor. I love them even more when they're together. I could have read an entire other book of just them spending time together and healing each other simply by being there. That we also see them grow and attain what they need to be truly happy is the lovely icing on an already perfect cake.
My only complaint is that Amy gets the excuse of being a stressed-out workaholic to excuse the awful way she treats everyone, including her daughter, and there's not much in the story to justify people just being okay with it. Maybe I'm vindictive, but a little more effort on her part would have been nice to read.
Aside from that minor quibble, it's a great romance that's full of emotion, growth, and some very solid smexy times. I loved it and highly recommend it.
Delighted thanks to NetGalley and Afterglow Books by Harlequin for the wonderful romance read!
