We Three Kings is a lovely holiday romance/women’s fiction with excellent moments filled with humor and heart. The story is told from the perspective of a female character who is trying to navigate a career, life, and the boundaries of work friends who have become family. When her coworkers find out she plans to spend the holidays alone, they craft a plan for her to spend time with each of them instead. Along the way, her love for the three men grows, and she discovers who she’s meant to be.

If you’re in the mood for a heartfelt Christmas story that juggles both challenging topics and comedy, while keeping the delivery lighthearted, this story is for you.

I listened to the audiobook version of this story which was performed by a single narrator. The narrator did a fantastic job bringing this story to life. I listened at 1.75x speed (my normal audiobook listening speed is 1.75-2x speed).

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for this advanced audiobook copy.

This was the coziest read!

There were cozy fireplaces and Christmas decorations and yummy treats throughout!

I wasn’t sure how the dynamic would play out with three separate guys (and no, sadly it’s not a why choose!). But the author did such a great job fleshing out each relationship, and we got to see such beautiful platonic friendships. And yes, the romance, when it does start to get rolling with one of the guys, is so sweet!

There is some sexual tension, but it’s strictly closed door.

I really appreciated Maggie as a main character, and being inside her head with the first person narration was lovely! She’s very self-aware, and has a nice balance between feeling her emotions but not being led astray by them, seen again and again in her difficult decision of which team member to let go.

I would recommend this to people looking for:
-workplace romance
-will they, won’t they
-set in and around London at Christmastime

ALC Review:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Hailing from a small family, Maggie Fields finds herself with plans to spend the Christmas holiday solo. But when her three male workmates learn she will be all alone, they decide to take her in. With a full schedule, Maggie finds herself attending three very different celebrations. Will the holiday break bring Maggie closer to each of her coworkers, or will it drive a wedge between the tight knit group?

Kristen Bailey charmed me with this delightfully sweet holiday story!

We Three Kings is a romance, but I would argue the strongest example of love is that of philia and not eros. The relationships between the entire IT department; Leo, Maggie, Frank, and Jasper restored my hope in humanity. The four not only came together during times of need, but actively helped one another become the best version of themselves.

This book also contains:
-workplace romance
-fake dating
-friends to lovers
-holiday festivities
-laugh out loud moments
-found family

Consuming this as an audiobook was a wonderful experience. I adored hearing the story narrated by Harrie Dobby! Her accent was not only charming, but transported across the pond. I highly recommend listening to this book over reading!!!

Special thanks to Netgalley, Dreamscape Select, Storm Publishing, and Kristen Bailey for allowing me to read and listen to this book in exchange for my honest review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book is such a delightful, heartwarming Christmas story filled with love, laughter, and the magic of found family! This Christmas story, is would be a perfect read over the holidays,
It's a bit of a unique Christmas story, following four coworkers from a company IT department: Frank, Jasper, Leo, and, of course, our leading boss lady, Maggie. Her plans for a solo Christmas are upended when these favourite coworkers invite her to spend the holidays with each of them in turn.
Little do they know, Maggie has been tasked by HR with letting one of them go ...
Thank you, NetGalley and McMillan audio for the ARC !

The perfect holiday read for anyone who loves great banter, HEAs and a crew of misfits banding together.

We Three Kings was adorable and I loved seeing Maggie’s relationships with each of the guys develop as she dove head first into visits with each of their families. Author Kristen Bailey totally nailed the combination of heartwarming and hilarious.

Narrator Harrie Dobby did a great job. Usually third-person POV with a single narrator isn’t my favourite but I thought it worked well I. This case for the story.

Can’t wait to read Kristen’s next one!

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Select and Kristen Bailey for an early listening copy, these are my honest thoughts.

For the second year in a row this author has moved, captivated and conquered me. I loved this book. The bond between these 4 friends is strong and so moving. The journey they each had in the days before Christmas, and the dilemma that haunted Meg throughout Christmas. I loved the sweet and at the same time fun writing by the author. Not to mention that I loved seeing Eve from 5 Golden Rings again. I highly recommend it. Great to warm your heart this Christmas

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape select for the ARC of this audiobook for my honest review

The horrible unfairness at work is so relatable, kind of hits too close to home but it’s always interesting. The romance was also absolutely adorable and I loved that it was focusing on friendships as well. I loveddd the love interest. I usually prefer when I get the love interests POV but it was still really good not having that in this boook. I recommend!

I'll be publishing my review on Goodreads and StoryGraph 3rd December and on Tik tok most likely will add to a monthly wrap up post with review the beginning of January

Silly me thought for some reason (maybe just wishful thinking) that this was going to be a why choose. And although I was wrong, I was not disappointed by this sweet romance focused on the friendships we find in the workplace and the magic of sharing the giving season with those we love (love in all forms, not only romantic). It kind of felt like I got three stories in one as Maggie spent time with each of her incredible handsome co-workers and their very different families. From wedding and accidental bridesmaid, to fox hunt and wildlife conservator, there were so many delightful and heartwarming moment that would put the festive season into any Scrooge or Grinch.
And the narration was absolutely *chef's kiss* and I'd love to hear more from Harrie Dobby!

I tried to get into this one and it's just not working. The story isn't engaging to me and there are too many characters that aren't done well enough for me to remember any of them. DNF at 30%

I was so glad to see another fun holiday rom-com from Kristen Bailey after listening to Five Gold Rings last year. There’s something so charming about Bailey’s signature style and it’s perfectly suited for cozy holiday romps. The extremely questionable workplace romance aside, the banter, goofy set ups, and sweet cast of characters make this a fun seasonal read.

Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for this audiobook for review purposes.

Now that Mariah Carey has thawed, time for some Christmas reads is upon us…. Though mine seemed to already begin with Look Up Handsome by Jack Strange, coming across this cute workplace Christmas story surprised me in more ways than one. In the same vein as for Christmases and many other Christmases movie, this one has a workplace angle along with romance woven into it.

A manager of a neglected IT department in a company, goes on an adventure of Christmas with three of her juniors. Wedding, a manor, and a countryside road trip. All three unique experiences different from each other where she encounters more than the workmates. Our leading lady Maggie leads this adventure taking us all on a fun ride. From playing the girlfriend for the shy Frank, rescuing foxes while visiting Jasper and giving him his sarcastic humour back at him while she’s at it, and discovering more about Leo and herself in that trip. She also has a dilemma of who is she going to fire by the end of her trip.

The book is witty, funny, heartwarming, humorous, all at the same time. A celebration of workplace friendships, romance, and self this one is a breezy and fun read. It is played out well how she discovers more about her colleagues, and helps them along the way. It was such a delight to have it as an audiobook as well but I have a feeling I would have enjoyed it as much while reading.

Fun and entertaining read that is perfect for the season while cozying up. The writing is easy and keeps you entertained while going through the days of Christmas. From the perspective of Maggie, the story gives us insight into her own headspace as well and her relationships with parents and her best friend.

The world is a fuck place at the moment anyway, you would need this cute fun easy Christmas friendship workplace romance to give you a little breather from the real life

Maggie is the bright light in the damp basement that serves as the necessary but forgotten IT department at the company where she works.

What makes her job tolerable are Frank, Jasper, and Leo the three men who work alongside her. Weird, awkward, and delightful, these four people accidentally became family.

Finding herself alone for Christmas and resigned to a few days on her couch with snacks and movies, the guys take it upon themselves to include her in their holiday plans: a wedding with Frank, a family getaway with Jasper, and a few days with Leo up North.

Maggie agrees and finds the trips, the company of her coworkers to be delightful! She learns about each of the boys and their families, gaining insight she’d not had before which only strengthens their bond. Plus there’s the little fact that something is blossoming between Leo and Maggie.

But she’s ignoring the fact that HR announced to her that she needs to fire one member of her team by New Years, an impossible task.

Bailey writes the loveliest characters that you absolutely root for. Her oddballs remain relatable, the kids are scene stealers, and her found families feel like warmest hugs on a cold night.

I’m a big fan (Textbook Romance is a favorite for 2024) and this is a delightful holiday story full of heart and family and love.

The audio is lovely and adds to the warmth of the book.

WE THREE KINGS is my first Kristen Bailey book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story follows Maggie at Christmas as she spends the holidays with her three colleagues/friends and their families.
The family encounters were really cute. The conflict was a bit predictable, but didn’t fall into the typical miscommunication trope.
Overall, an enjoyable holiday rom com.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an audio ARC.
