The Marigold Cottages are home to an eccentric group of strangers who have little more in common than living in the cottages and being cared for by the idealist landlady, Mrs. B. When a murder takes place right after a violent-looking ex-con moves in, they're happy to see him taken away. But Mrs. B. is convinced he's innocent and is willing to confess to the crime to prove it, which prompts the neighbors to join forces to solve the crime and find the true culprit.

I'm amazed at how twisty Nichols managed to make a story that is so cozy in setting and events. Yes, there is a murder and other dangerous things, but the story focuses on the personal ties and growth of the characters more than anything else. It's a story about connections and how reaching out to others and being there for them can make your life better.

Very happy thanks to NetGalley and Minotaur Books for the captivating read!
