This book follows Diana, who helps run her family’s French café and at night writes as a fanfiction writer dedicated to pop star Sam Raymond. When the real Sam unexpectedly walks into the café, Diana’s carefully balanced life flips upside down. Recovering from a career setback and throat surgery, Sam keeps coming back—for the food, or maybe something more—and slowly bonds with Diana and her family while facing the pressure of his looming comeback. If you enjoy slow-burn romance, this one will work for you—though I have to admit it was slower than I’d prefer. It takes a long time for Sam and Diana to even meet, and the pacing drags with many details stacked in between. Still, their relationship development once it begins was one of my favorite aspects, tender and layered in a way that felt real. The family dynamic was warm and beautifully written, the dual POV was engaging, and the slow-burn friends-to-lovers arc delivered plenty of cozy, fall-ready vibes. I especially loved the way the novel captured the intimacy of food, family, and storytelling as a backdrop to Diana and Sam’s romance.

I seem to be in the majority on this one—it just didn’t fully work for me. The pacing dragged, and while I usually enjoy a slow burn, this one was a little too slow. The in-person moments between Diana and Sam were sweet, but their online dynamic lacked spark, with the flirting reading more juvenile than swoony. I also struggled to connect with the characters, and the heavy pop-culture references pulled me out of the story. Cute premise, adorable cover, but overall it fell flat!

This is a good book. The two main characters are Diane and Sam. Diane by day is a chef for the family’s restaurant and by night a fan fiction author. Sam is a singer, who recently had vocal cords surgery. One day Sam comes to the restaurant to eat. Diane waits on him and has a conversation with him. He comes back the next day and has more conversations. There is an attraction. Sam and Diane have issues but together they work them out and fall in love.

This was a bit TOO slow burn for my liking, and not exactly my taste… I’ll admit I had to drag myself through parts of it.
The story also felt a little too drawn out with the secondary characters taking up more space than I preferred. STILLLL, it had its charm. The romance was DARN CUTE, with definite Wattpad vibes, and some sweet, cozy moments.

Diana’s dual life as a line cook and anonymous fan-fic writer was delightfully engaging, and Sam’s vulnerabilities made him feel deeply human. The café setting and food descriptions were so vivid they practically came alive. I’m drawn to the fusion of creativity, romance, and self-discovery

Ummm welll, DESPITEE my mixed feelings, I’d still recommend it to those who enjoy lighthearted, character-driven reads…

Thank you NetGalley for the arc (and well, despite having read this way back… I couldn’t get time to review this!)

This is a slow burn romance that’s sweet and a great option for a fall read. I liked this overall, and the reading process of it was very enjoyable. You do have to have a lot of patience though, because it really is a slow burn.

There were a few things that affected my enjoyment of this book. I thought the pop culture references were heavy handed and immediately dated the book. I think this would be hard to read even a few years from now. I also felt… weird about Diana continuing to write hr fanfic even after they became friends. That’s… kind of weird. Fanfic is such a unique space, but a big part of it is imagining things in a separate world in the way you want. Doing that with a real person is already in a weird place for a lot of people, and then for her to continue to try to write a real person she knew in a fanfic feels a little disrespectful.

The flirting occasionally felt a little too young, and their emotional connection sometimes lacked a little bit. It’s disappointing that they don’t get together until the book is over. You don’t get to see their relationship grow even a little from there. The cafe part of the story also didn’t feel completely developed.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this a lot. I don’t think I’d read it again, but it hit that “read once for cozy vibes and had a good time” category in a nice way.

This book is pure serotonin for anyone who loves fandom tropes, cozy cafés, and swoony rockstars with soft hearts. Diana’s double life as a brunch-slinging line cook by day and spicy fic writer by night had me hooked and when the real Sam Raymond walks into her café, it’s delicious chaos. Their chemistry is equal parts flirty banter and tender vulnerability, with NYC as the perfect backdrop. It’s a love letter to messy dreams, secret blogs, lemon crème crêpes, and unexpected soulmates. Sweet, funny, and secretly steamy I devoured every page and wanted seconds. Absolute comfort read!

I can't say enough good things about this book! It was everything I needed a romance book to be - Molly should be proud.

The vibes on this book were high. The storyline is so cute-obviously it would be hard to believe that they would be the same people online and in person, but I loved both characters so much that I was willing to look past it. It was a quick, cute read with enough drama and suspense to keep it interesting. This would be a great cozy fall read with a mug of tea and a fireplace.

Words cannot describe how much I loved this book. The writing was so beautiful; I really got to know the characters well and loved the parallel relationships moving together. A brilliant romance, can't wait to reread it already.

This was really sweet! 3.5 stars! Slow, in a good and calming way. It felt and read like fall. It wasn't what I had hoped for, but the story's charming and I found myself enjoying it anyway. I loved the buildup of Diana and Sam's relationship and the side characters too. The pacing of the story confused me at times, where I thought it was only the next day, but then I quickly realized more time had passed. But all in all it was pretty enjoyable for me.

The way I laughed, cried, audibly gasped all while reading this book! So beautifully written and with twists and turns I truly didn’t see coming

I really, truly wanted to love this book, but, unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. I feel as though the premise had a lot of potential; however, the characters and pacing of the plot fell flat for me.

This was yet another 24 hour read for me because I simply could not put it down. I just wanted to keep reading to know what happens next with Diana and Sam, D and S. This book played at all my fangirl heartstrings so well and every fangirl can relate that this would be such a dream. The flirting, the banter, all the tropes I love in one book. It leaves me wanting so much more of Diana and Sam. "There are no Saturdays left" - 5 words to shatter my heart in pieces but held such a heavy weight and meaning. The spice took a while to come but the wait was so SO worth it. I can't wait to look into more of Molly Dunn's work!
