My daughter absolutely loves the "Besties" series, and this was no different! Kayla Miller has absolutely outdone herself in this one. It's a wonderful reminder that pranks are all well and good to the RIGHT people! Some people appreciate them less than others, and some have consequences. The graphics were phenomenal. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance review!

An extension into the world of "Click" by Kayla Miller. When pro skateboard streamer Trixie Sampson hosts a pranking contest for viewers to win a chance to hang out with her and her crew, best friends Trent and Sawyer can't resist. After a day of attempting to pull off the perfect prank and catch it on film, the two besties start to realize how hard this contest might be. But when a prank against their friend Nat sets off an all-out prank war, Trent and Sawyer realize that they bit off more than they can chew.

Besties: Prank War discusses the consequences that can be had when pranks get out of control and the importance of safety and friendship.

If you’re wanting to learn the art of pranking, look no further than asking Trent and Sawyer.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

Prank War is a fantastic addition to the Besties series. It was nice to see a story cover two of the boys in the group. Trent and Sawyer are hilarious and certainly brought the laughs to this title. Recommended for all collections where Kayla Miller's other titles are popular.

I always enjoy reading these graphic novels by Kayla Miller. Very reminiscent of my time in middle school. For so e reason though Nat really worked my nerves in this book! And so did the parents! What parent allows another child to come into their house and prank their kid? I felt bad for Trent and Sawyer as they kept getting the blame for everything and Nat got off scott free! So i struggled a bit with this one because the “pranking” honestly felt more like bullying.

This was such a cute graphic novel. I haven't read either of the others, but I think I'll look into them for my 1st grade son who really enjoyed reading this with me.

This was another fun installment of the World of Click series. I have not read any of the other books, but I know they are quite popular with my students. Despite being unfamiliar with the series/characters, I still found this to be an enjoyable read. The prank war was interesting, and I'm sure students will like reading about it.

Well, that was fun!

Trent and Sawyer are determined to win a prank competition, but they didn’t think it through. They don’t know peace anymore since they poked the wrong bear, Nat, who’s more creative and relentless in her pranks. Trent and Sawyer started the prank war, but even when they want it to end, they don’t know how to make Nat stop.

Not gonna lie this was quite uncomfortable to read—especially when the pranks started to get out of control—because I, for one, hate surprises. But i love the lesson underneath it, i love how these kids behaved like kids, and the ending made me giggle. The illustrations are perfect, too!

Back for a third round of the World of Click, with each book focusing on a pair of characters from the Click series. Trent and Sawyer are avid skateboarders who are crushing on pro skateboarder Trish Sampson. Anything Trish says and does is golden in their eyes. When she shows an amazing prank she pulled off on her social media page, she invites her viewers to a prank contest where the grand prize winner will attend the Half Pipe Palooza. Trent and Sawyer have mega plans to pull off the best and biggest prank to win the contest.

At first the pranks smart off small and rather harmless. That is until they pull a prank on Natasha (“Nat”), who is known to be rather fierce with her temper. Nat did not appreciate being the focus of Trent and Sawyer’s prank and turns the tables on them, one-upping them on every one of their pranks. It becomes a prank war, getting to a point where their peers no longer find them amusing or funny, but rather an annoyance. When does this all end? And what will be the final prank to end all pranks?

I enjoyed the story although I am not one who usually likes stories that involve jokes on people or pranks. Admittedly I felt the pranking went on way too long and the parents, teachers and school staff did not handle the shenanigans very well. I did enjoy this illustrator much more than the previous graphic novels. The drawings were delightful and the color was fabulous. I still have difficulty with the font used in this series and the Click series. I always read the ‘a’ as ‘d’ and it can be rather annoying. I wish they would change the fonts to something friendlier. I love the Click series more than this World of Click series but I do appreciate how the World series rotates the focus on different characters.

Trent and Sawyer take center stage in the latest edition of Besties in the Click universe. In an attempt to win an online contest, Trent and Sawyer begin pranking their classmates. When they prank the wrong person, they find themselves in an all-out prank war.

While this book is well written and well illustrated, I did not care for it. There is something about parents participating in or allowing something to take place in their child's safest places, and then turning around and putting your kids in trouble for the same thing somewhere else that just did not sit well with me.
Appropriate and valuable growth did happen in the young characters, which I appreciated. But the parents..

A fabulous companion story to the Click series! This middle grade graphic novel works as a stand alone, or as a sequel. Kids will love it and will laugh on every page as Trent and Sawyer get in a prank war with their classmate Nat. Things get out of control pretty quickly, but the friends learn many valuable lessons about pranks, jokes, and friendship. A definite must-read for third grade and above!

I’m a huge fan of Kayla Miller’s Click universe. The illustrations are fantastic with coloring that is a feast for the eyes. This is the first time Trent and Sawyer have taken center stage on the page. The best part about this book is how true to life the social dynamics are for the middle grade reader. In addition to the titular promised pranks there’s friendship, games, schoolwork, student council, extracurriculars, eating in the cafeteria, little siblings, and more… but also a LOT of cringe. My biggest gripe about it this book is the meanness that permeates the pages. The pranks seem to go on forever, which makes the plot suffer from repetition and delaying the inevitable moment when their antics catch up with them. Still, Nat is really the worst and she actually comes out unscathed and even rewarded. I feel so bad for Tyler. I think I wanted fewer pranks and more heartwarming friendship moments of redemption. Thanks to NetGalley for the digital ARC for review.

Thank you @NetGalley and @HarperCollinsChildren'sBooks for the ARC. I have been a fan of Kayla Miller since her first book. The characters are so relatable and funny. My students devour these books. Trent and Sawyer decide to win a visit with their skateboarding hero by entering a prank war contest. Yet, not all their friends are on bored to be part of their pranks. Trent and Sawyer prank Nat and she doubles down on their pranks and plans to win the contest herself. A must read.

I cannot get enough of this world! I have read every Click and Besties title at this point. Each one is a unique story that is realistic and poignant for the students who read them. The characters are a full cast I love to read about and learn about. Students who read will feel how genuinely the books honor their lives and experiences, as it does so realistically in an approachable way and in a format that speaks to kids. Nothing is preachy, but by reading these words and images, our readers can and will grow alongside the characters. Each one is full of fun, humor, friendships and school issues to navigate. The Prank War has all kinds of things that kids love: pranks, rivalries, contests, and social media/video influencers. The prank competition and the way it not only affects those participating, but also their friends, family, classmates and schools form an incredibly interesting plot line. Students will love this one just as they have loved the ones before.

Kayla Miller returns to the World of Click with Besties: Prank War, a new graphic novel featuring Trent and Sawyer. The pair kick off a class-wide prank war, hoping to win a contest judged by their pro skateboarder idol. However, their escalating pranks put their other friendships to the test. While the premise held promise, this installment fell flat for me. Many of the pranks themselves lacked humor, and the consequences for the characters' actions felt disproportionate and unfair.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

I received an electronic ARC from HarperCollins Children's Books through NetGalley.
I have enjoyed this series but I didn't care for some parts of the third book. I do get the author's point on pranks that go too far but am disappointed that only two of the characters (the boys)were punished while the third (the girl) was not. Yes, they started the prank war, and, yes, they made foolish and poor decisions but the fact that everyone including family members helped Nat prank the two without consequences does not send the right message. That brought my review down to three stars.
It is a lighter book and I understand that also. Middle grade readers will appreciate the humor and the pranks. They will also understand the message of going too far when someone gets hurt.

Kayla Miller has been popular at my library for quite a while so I was eager to read her next entry in the Besties series which focuses on two new "besties" Trent and Sawyer. Best friends since forever, what is very appealing about these two characters is how adventerous they are. Many characters in middle grade graphic novels have been more subdued but Trent and Sawyer leap off the page through their actions and words. Bold colors with clearly defined lines makes it appealing for the middle grader reader. Give this to children ages 8 and up who love friendship stories and graphic novels.

Super fun, quick easy read. I love this crew of characters and the hijinxes they get up to. Giving Trent and Sawyer some plot in this universe gave them more character depth than two lovable goofballs. I do have one question though, where did Nat get all that glitter?

Prank War is the latest installment of the Besties series, a spin-off of Kayla Miller's super-popular Click. My students cannot get enough of these books, and Prank War is a great opportunity to learn more about the minor characters in Olive's world. In the main series, Olive's superpower is her ability to float between different friend groups at her school, and the Besties series focuses in on these groups. This time, we follow Trent and Sawyer as they embark on an epic prank war (in hopes of impressing their favorite influencer) that quickly spirals out of control.

The pranks in the story are funny, semi-realistic, and not so horrible that you'd worry about students getting the wrong ideas from reading the books. Lessons are learned without the story becoming too didactic--actions have consequences, but we don't leave with the characters' personalities changing permanently and scared off of pranking forever.

This will be a welcome addition to the Kayla Miller collection in my school library.
