I adored this book. Stacey’s approach to telling her story is inviting and captivating. While it does tell a story, it also paves the way for some deep truths to take root. I appreciated her candidness and openness as she learned to discern God’s voice and how to process and act on her desires. There are some excellent tools and guides that you can copy or adopt for yourself in your own journey. At the end of the day, there is not a specific formula that if you do x, y, and z you will be able to hear and discern. Rather, there is a journey, and Stacey shares some space for journaling as well as some excellent questions to ponder, pray, and reflect. The analogy of the onion is a great way to describe how she takes readers through her own journey and provides a foundation for what to anticipate if you are serious about genuine growth in your walk with the Lord.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.

I loved this real world experience of discernment. So many times I start to compare my story to someone else's story. This reminded me that we all have our own journey to Christ

This was a really easy read and yet I found it so inspirational. Following Stacey's story through auditioning for a career in show business, to the discernment process for becoming a nun, to finding a partner and ultimately marrying and having children. Stacey uses all these experiences to show how to hear from God and discern your next steps. Ultimately focusing on the importance of growing closer to God and seeking that rather than focusing on 'ourselves' and what we want.

This book is clearly catholic, and as a non catholic Christian there were some things I just read over and didn't take in, but ultimately I found the message and purpose of this book motivating and encouraging. As a lover of journaling I really appreciated that each chapter concluded with some journaling prompts to action what you had just read and learnt.

Thank you to the Author, Publisher and NetGalley UK for a free ebook in exchange for an honest review.

What happens when you mix Broadway with a reality show about convents with a young woman discerning her vocation?

The answer is one of the best spiritual books I have read in 2025.

Adventure Awaits: How to Interpret Your Desires and Hear God's Voice by Stacey Sumereau is part memoir, part guidebook, but all quite fascinating.

Sumereau fulfilled my childhood dreams by appearing as a musical theater actress, so I have a great deal of respect for her. That she would even consider giving up the limelight to serve God is a testament to the depth of her character and her spirituality.

Adventure Awaits can be especially helpful to a Gen Z-er trying to figure out the Lord's plan for his or her best life. The author is a cheerleader for assisting the reader in drawing closer to God and His amazing designs.

This book was an absolute delight to read and I cannot recommend it highly enough!
