Well written story and you will love the characters. I couldn't put this book down. Highly recommend this book. It was a pleasure in reading this book.

Review of an ARC of "Lizzie's Little Mouse"
Rating: 5 stars Cover: Love it!
Series: #8 of The Heart of the Amish Book
Ever pick up a book and, from the very start, the read is enjoyable. Makes you smile every time you return to the story. Well, that's the way I feel about "Lizzie's Little Mouse". The title got my attention. I loved the cover and guessed (or maybe I hoped) that I was seeing "the mouse". Hint! I was right.
I have read some of this series and enjoyed all of them, but I have to say, this is my favorite. A different kind of plot. An Amish woman is opening a bakery. Not just an Amish bakery but a French & Amish bakery.
A family furniture store across the street wanted that building for expansion. See, the plot is different. And of course, that family has a son -- an unmarried son.
You'll find yourself smiling a lot when you read this one. Laugh out loud sometimes. You've heard of feel-good movies? Well, this is a feel-good book. I highly recommend.
I received a complimentary DRC (digital review copy) of “Lizzie's Little Mouse” via NetGalley from the publisher, Barbour Publishing. A positive review was not required; the opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This was an entertaining read. I have not read anything by this author before, but have always enjoyed Amish fiction. This story pairs Amish fiction with a murder mystery that is 100 years old with a surprising twist at the end. Along the way is woven a sweet love story between Lizzie and John. Good story, nice characters, and overall great read with several sub stories throughout.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a free ARC to review. My opinions are my own.

Does anyone else love a good Amish fiction? I’m all for them! They’re quick and easy reads that you won’t want to miss. This is the eighth book in a series. Definitely grab all of them and read them in order. That said, you can read this as a stand-alone novel as well.
This is a sweet cozy mystery with plenty of romance and cuteness thrown in as well. You’re going to love every minute of it.
Lizzie apprentices with a French bakery to help her learn all the tricks. And then she opens her own bakery. It’s unique for an Amish woman to get to do this. Not the have your own business part, but the two-year apprenticeship part. But it was approved, and she loves it!
Fast forward to having her own business.
Things aren’t going as she thought they would. Apparently, there was a murder here years and years before. And now someone is out to stop her success.
Add in John, who has been her friend through it all. But who is suddenly being seen as more than a friend. Oh, and the sweet little kitty. I’m a fan of cats, and hers is super cute.
Oh, and I loved the recipes! Going to have to try to make some of these but gluten and dairy free to fit our family.

Loved it. It was not the usual Amish fiction book that seem to be all so similar lately. All the characters were likable and held my interest. I loved the unconventional idea of a young Amish woman owning and running a buisness. The mystery component was spot on and not at all predictable. Looking forward to more from this author.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this story. All opinions are my own.

Wow!! What a unique concept….a New Orleans Amish Bakery!!! Talk about something that no one has ever done….this is what Lizzie Miller has done! She has worked hard to realize her dream. Put in her dues, worked at her craft and FINALLY opened the doors to the community of her dream, “The Plain Beignet”. BUT, all is not a bowl of cherries….there are more than a few pits along the way that may derail this dream. This would include uncovering a 100 year old mystery that may provide clues as to who is behind the drama.
Not only is Lizzie fighting for her dream but may really be fighting for her life. Along the way, she may have found something that she didn’t realize that she had been looking for during this time of her life. She has her friends, her family and at the ever at the ready, her fur lined buddy, “Little Mouse”. We see the relationships between friends and family when danger raises it head towards on of their own. They rally behind Lizzie and come to be her “port in the storm”.
I enjoyed this story. It is one that you find your comfy chair, open the window to let the breeze in and sip on the drink of your choice….maybe a good sweet tea!!
I was provided a complimentary copy of the book from Barbour Publishing via Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the first Amish book that I’ve read, and it’s book eight of The Heart of the Amish Series. I found it quite enjoyable. There is so much meat in this mystery from just who is responsible for the brick thrown with a note? To finding out the name of the man who threatened Lizzie at her grand opening. Lizzie and her friends search for an answer, and the plot thickens indeed, and that is, refreshing. I love how smart Lizzie’s cat was at protecting Lizzie. You go cat! As time goes on, Lizzie and John follow clues given by the locals and she finds out her building was in the news 100 years prior. Lizzie, John and crew make for great amateur sleuths. There were many twists and turns, and I enjoyed the humour as well. There is a romance blossoming between Lizzie and her old time friend, John but it isn’t overwhelming in the book. I believe you will enjoy this wonderful book over a nice cup of coffee. I look forward to reading more from this author. I received this e-book for free from Celebrate Lit Tour and the opinions I express are honest and my own.
“There’s a bright side?” “Ja. In Ephesians it says not to let the sun go down on your anger. Well, the sun isn’t even up yet, so you’ve got all day to calm down!” -Quote from book

Lizzie's Little Mouse is a charming Amish tale that follows Lizzie and John as they evolve from friends to something more. While the title didn’t initially appeal to me, the characters, setting, and storyline quickly won me over.
I’m fond of stories set in bakeries, and the added elements of mystery and history brought an extra layer of intrigue. (The included recipes are a bonus!)
Lizzie’s dream of opening a bakery felt genuine, and I found myself rooting for her success, even though her French twist was an unexpected touch for an Amish bakery. I was intrigued when she delved into the past to discover a murder mystery connected to the building. John is also a likeable character, though at times his tendency to guide and protect felt a bit much.
This Amish cozy mystery and sweet romance kept me engaged, and the blossoming romance touched my heart.
#CoverLoverBookReview received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions are 100% my own.

this was a strong eighth entry in the Heart of the Amish series, it had that element that I was looking for and enjoyed from the previous seven entries. The characters had that element that I wanted and enjoyed the overall feel of this. It uses the Amish element perfectly and was glad the romance concept worked in this story. I enjoyed the way Anne Blackburne wrote this and the previous books in the series.

I enjoyed getting to know Lizzie. She was an unusual Amish woman who had dreams of owning her own bakery and still single at twenty five. Her grand opening started off with a bang. She got a verbal threat and a brick thrown through her display window with a note attached.
Her business thrived in spite of this but fear caused her to take precautions until the unknown person was found.
I went on a journey with her and her co-workers trying to solve the mystery. I never knew what would happen next and the culprit was a total shock! I like mysteries that give totally unpredictable endings and this one did that and more.
FYI, Lizzie’s little mouse is not a mouse at all!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through Celebrate Lit but was not required to write a review.

After interning in a French Bakery in New Orleans, Lizzie has dreamed of opening her own bakery at home.
She is finally able to achieve that dream, but someone in the community is not happy that she is there, her choice of French pasteries, and especially in the particular building she is in.
Many mysterious things begin to happen and Lizzie and others begin to fear for her life.
This book is loaded with all kind sof mysteries. If you enjoy cozy mysteries, you will enjoy this book.
I received this advanced copy from Barbour and my review are my own thoughts and words.

I really enjoyed the story and getting to watch Lizzie’s dream of opening her own bakery. She is excited to share her treats with others and welcomes people at her grand opening. I could smell the pastries as they were pulled from the oven. One person is not happy that Lizzie has incorporated French pastries to her menu. His threat is ominous and later will play a big part in who wants to scare her enough to close her bakery.
One thing that really struck me was when someone was saying, “even though we belong to different church districts, we’re all Amish, and we’re suppose to support each other.” As Christians we should be supporting each other instead of judging or trying to cause strife. We all serve one God and should not be trying to stir up trouble because we may not agree on everything. This was so powerful to read how the Amish support each other and don’t like division.
I really liked John and how protective he is over Lizzie. He does seem to overstep himself when he tries to encourage Lizzie in what to do when she is threatened and her business is broken into. Does she realize that maybe John has feelings for her? Will their relationship develop into more than a friendship?
I liked reading about the history of the building where Lizzie’s bakery is. What an intriguing mystery the building holds and I couldn’t wait to see who was behind the tragedy that happened so long ago. It made me wonder how the mystery from so long ago was related to what was going on with Lizzie and her building. The author does a great job of keeping readers interested with great characters, faith and a mystery that starred years ago.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

I love cats. I have my own. He's sitting on my lap right now. And there's no way he could be considered a "Little Mouse". My cat weighs 16 pounds. And he probably would not jump and protect me from a bad guy.
Lizzie finally is making her dream come true. Unfortunately, someone is not happy for her.
Lizzie has the greatest friends. They are supportive and have her back at all times. She also starts to see her friend's brother as more than a friend.
Lizzie and her friends have a mystery to solve. And they need to solve it fast before someone is hurt.

Lizzie's Little Mouse by author Anne Blackburne is a Contemporary Christian Amish Cozy Mystery Tale. It is the eighth book in The Heart of the Amish Series by various authors. These books may be read as a series since they share many characters or as stand alone books.
This is the tale of Lizzie Miller. Her dream has been to open a unique bakery. When she does, strange things begin to happen. It is a fun mystery to read and solve for everyone.
I really like the author’s style of writing. It is inviting and very interesting. I was invested in the characters and their lives from the first page. There are many twists and turns tucked in this sweet story. Mystery lovers will enjoy this and even those readers who do not normally read Amish books will, too. The cat, Little Mouse, is adorable. After the story and epilogue, there is a recipe from the tale along with some baking tips.
This is a wonderful read. It gets a 4 out of 5 star rating from me. A complimentary copy was provided by Celebrate Lit, but these are my honest words.

The title of this suspenseful Amish drama would better be Lizzie’s Little Mystery rather than the name of her cat since the kitty doesn’t play much of a role in the story. Instead, the focus in on Lizzie’s new bakery, which has a French twist. The tale keeps readers guessing and salivating too, with all the goodies mentioned that she serves. The realistic characters and their struggles make for a good story in this twisting plot filled with surprises. We also see how Lizzie stands up for herself as an independent woman—not your typical Amish gal. Her determination and working out relationships could serve as a good example to readers. This novel is part of a series, but it stands well on its own. And it also has a bit of a love story, which almost dies before it can begin. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own. #LizziesLittleMouse #NetGalley

I have enjoyed reading the books in this series. I love how the cats are instrumental in the plot and how they are such a part of the the women’s lives. I loved that this story had a bit of suspense in it as the characters tried to figure out who was trying to put Lizzie out of business. I liked the close friendships in this story and how they will do anything for each other. I also loved the romance between John and Lizzie and that it grew as they worked to solve the case. I thought this was an enjoyable story set in an Amish community.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.

Our main character is Lizzie Miller, an Amish young woman. Her dream is to open a French bakery complete with beignets. When she was fifteen, she attended a wedding in New Orleans and fell in love with the New Orleans style of bakery and bake goods. For two years she interned in a French bakery in New Orleans. After completing the internship, she returned home and spent the next few years working in a local Amish bakery, when the business came up for sale, she purchased it. On opening day two strange men came in and strongly suggest she close the bakery. Then someone broke into the bakery. Someone threw a note wrapped around a brick through the window. Lizzie is determined not to let anyone spoil her dream. As Lizzie and her friends search for the answer to who is trying to stop Lizzie from baking, they uncover an old mystery that has repercussions on Lizzie’s business.
Lizzie and John have been friends for a long time. Slowly they come to realize that they have more than friendship. However, could their growing feelings damage their friendship?
This is a great cozy mystery! Lizzie is a strong, independent, compassionate and heroic character. She is dedicated to her new bakery and doesn’t want anything to come between her and her dream. Fans of Amish romance and mysteries will enjoy the dual genre. This book has a focus on faith
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

First I’ll say that although this is book 8 in the Heart of the Amish series, each book is a standalone. We do meet some characters, and cats, from Mary’s Calico Hope but if you haven’t read it there is no problem. But do read them all. Each author brings her own style to the stories and is enjoyable reading if you like Amish fiction.
Lizzie’s Little Mouse is different than is typical for an Amish story, as it really is a cozy mystery. I enjoyed that aspect of it. While Blackburn kept me guessing, it wasn’t a nerve-wracking edge of the seat book.
Well developed characters make this story enjoyable. Lizzie is trying to make her dream come true. John is trying to help during all the mysterious trouble, without getting his heart involved. But can he? Will they remain friends, or ruin a life-long friendship? The secondary characters are equally as good and I would love to go have coffee and pastries with them all.
If you enjoy Amish fiction with some twists and turns, do read Lizzie’s Little Mouse. You’ll be glad you did!
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

I've enjoyed all of these stories with Lydia's cats, since we have several cats in our household. Add in the Amish setting, a mystery, and a touch of romance, and this is just about a perfect fit for me.
I enjoyed the growing relationship between Lizzie and John, as well as the friendship among Lizzie and her friends, Eliza and Jane. The mystery keeps you guessing, right up until the revelation. By the way, there are recipes at the end of the book!
If you enjoy a sweet Amish romance, with a big mystery to solve, quick! go grab your own copy!

Lizzie’s Little Mouse, by Anne Blackburne, is the eighth book in The Heart of the Amish series. This is a nice series that is being written by different authors. Each of the books are good stand alone stories, yet they do reference people and places from other stories. This story focuses on Lizzie after she has completed her training and is opening her own bakery. Someone does not want her bakery to succeed.
This is a well written, easy to read and imagine story that is enjoyable to read. This story is filled with mystery, suspense, and with touches of romance. This story has wonderful characters that are so helpful and supportive of Lizzie. I enjoyed how close Jane and Eliza are to Lizzie and how they come up with a plan to keep her safe. I liked the parts of the story of them and John trying to find out who is breaking into the bakery and her home and why. I especially enjoyed the theme of family and faith.
I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review.
