Volume 2 of Veil continues where Volume 1 left off with the building of the relationship between Aleksander and Emma through vignettes opposed to continuous plot. Despite there being no continuous plot, I find this read enjoyable from the content in it and simply the talent displayed by Kotteri in the beautiful illustrations. If you are simply just reading the text in the manga it will not take long to complete but I would recommend taking time to enjoy the illustrations.
If you are interested in an easy read, endearing story and amazing illustrations I would whole-heartedly recommend picking this up for a read!
Thank you to Udon Entertainment and NetGalley for this arc!

Volume 2 didn't disappoint. The story continued, still full of endearing moments and quick snapshots of their lives together. I really do love these and can't wait to collect them.

There was he - an-on duty police officer in the city. There was she - a runaway heiress. Now, They - coworkers, friends, players of their own stage - share their lives: moments in the street, pieces of time stolen between the dawn and the dusk. She feels the world around her, and he learns what he loves in it through watching her. Not a tale with a beginning and end, but a tale told through look-backs, and snatched through the day's haze, "Veil: Calming Noir" will pull you out of the flow and bustle of life into the gauze-soaked caress of a life lived in moments.
"Veil: Calming Noir" continues the meandering story of He and She, as they continue to adjust in their new roles: She, an heiress-turned-receptionist, and He, her willing coworker and companion, take crisp walks through small markets, blur the lines between friends and lovers in and out of their shared spaces, and otherwise enjoy each other and the dream-like city they find themselves embellished within. The tug and pull of the proverbial veil is just as enticing as the first volume, and there are a few more snippets of background and plot here, but the ephemeral quality of the art and the exposition is just as alluring as the first book and is quickly becoming a hallmark of this series. If you've seen He and She online and always wondered what their full story was, now's you're change to get lost in it!
Thank you to NetGalley, Udon Entertainment, and Kotteri for an Advanced Reader's Copy of this title!

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!
I already said it in my last review for the first volume, but I can't stop praising this work.
If you're looking for something easy to read, that's also touching with pretty (amazing) art and illustrations, then you should definitely check out "Veil".
I love the main characters so much and how they treat each other. Alexander, for example, is very protective of Emma, but never treats her as if she was broken because of her blindness or that she can't do things on her own. He lets her live freely while still keeping an eye on her (and he helps her if she needs it), if that makes sense.
Their relationship is truly precious and I'm excited to read more and to finally see them cross the line of being "friends".
I'd recommend "Veil" to everyone, even to people who normally wouldn't read manga, it's just so good in my opinion.

Loved both volumes so much and am happy that Udon entertainment sent me this. The story was easy to follow and very enjoyable. I definitely recommend to manga fans.

This manga fully encapsulates the essence of an unspoken love—one that transcends words and is defined solely by the mutual understanding shared between the two people. It’s an compansionship that is easy and that kind of relationship flows naturally in the vignettes. It portrays the subtle yet profound connection that only the two of them truly comprehend, making it all the more enchanting as an outsider looking in. I wholeheartedly recommend reading this manga, with beautiful art style with a heartwarming story that explores the quiet depth of affection without the need for overt declarations. “Veil” is seeing glimpises of with mutual understanding with wit and tender emotions.
Thank you to Udon Entertainment and NetGalley for this arc.

As good as the first one. Love the colours of the portraits.
A fun, sexy and mysterious read.
I need more!

This is a sweet and romantic book series. It’s much better to read book one and two together. Follow this couple that are not friends but something more. It’s little vignettes that give you a peak into their lives. You wait for the tension of a kiss or something more. The artwork still stands out as being entirely unique. Altogether this is a book series that I’m glad I’ve read. I’m not sure who I would suggest it to, but I’m glad I’ve read it.

This is an excellent continuation of the first volume, and I cannot wait for more from this collection. I loved the relationship and the care between the characters, and it was very funny and lovely and relatable, so I definitely think this is a fantastic book and have rated it on GoodReads as a 5-star amazing love the author.

5/5
If love was a couple personified, it would be them.
I won’t take too long writing this as I feel like I said most of what I needed to say on Vol.1, so I’ll try (key word: try) to keep this short.
I loved this volume. This had a slightly more of a chronological storytelling than Vol.1. I loved seeing their love for each other show. The little details they remember about each other, the softness and care, how they understand one another.. just perfect.
If you aren’t a big fan of non-linear storytelling, I don’t think this book would be for you, BUT I think you should give it a try not only for the beautiful art, but the love and care these characters have for each other.

[Gifted a copy on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review]
The second volume of Veil impressed two things upon me. The first is that if this is a game of romantic chicken, I am fairly confident she is winning. The second is that this could so easily fit into the art book market. Lovers of fashion illustrations in particular would be foolish to overlook this.
We return to our two twin souls as they swap “lovers”, smell good and bad things, dress each other up, and flirt with the idea of crossing what the author’s note described as “this thin film” that separates their current relationship from a clear romantic one. This manga’s identity was firmly established in its first volume and here it only continues. Those looking for strong plot or rich character arcs best turn elsewhere but everyone looking for something lovely and worth swooning over, this is one of the best.

Veil Vol. 2 by Kotteri is a colorful and beautifully illustrated manga that presents two charming main characters, Emma and Alexander (mostly referred to by “Her” and “Him”).
The story is told through vignettes rather than a continuous linear timeline. The art truly is beautiful but the relationship between the two is what is truly captivating. It’s so ambiguous and definitely gives off slow-burn tension. It’s so much more than a friendship but less than a full relationship. They both seem so comfortable with each other, and intimate without it being sexual, that its heartwarming. It’s a soft and quiet manga, but the character dynamic build the more you read. The second volume really emphasizes their relationship more.

Paid more attention to the art in this c. I really appreciate the sketches in between scenes. Their posing is so unique and dynamic, so I imagine the mangaka put in a lot of work to find references or to simply think them up. And the unveiling that their names are simply he and she is absolutely the most romantic thing ever, but even more than that. It reminds me of the relationship between Sherlock Holmes and Irene Adler, where he refers to her as The Woman as if she's the only one of that species that matters. So, too, for our two protagonists. Can't wait to get into the next instalment.

Thanks to NetGalley and the author for granting me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
If a heterosexual relationship isn't like this, I want NOTHING to do with it.

I like the art and I get the concept, but I would love for the snippets to show a coherent story.
Sometimes I get confused because of that but maybe that's a me thing.

Thank you Udon Entertainment for the drc via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I continue to love the delicate artwork and the soft interactions between the two MCs. There's definitely a focus on fashion in this manga series with a few pages of just full artwork in new styles that I am really enjoying. The story itself reads as little snippets of Emma's and Alexander's lives together, like getting glimpses of strangers through a window. While they're definitely more than friends, they're also not a couple or romantically entwined, yet it still reads as a slow burn because as the reader I really want the two to end up together romantically and we see moments of flirtation and sweet gestures but no moves have been made. That's not to say that the reader will be unsatisfied because seeing their almost shy moments of what could turn into something more is very charming and hopeful and shows how their relationship has been developing from strangers, to new coworkers/friends, to something a bit more than that. I look forward to the next volume.

There is just so much love behind the characters 🫶!!! I kept showing my boyfriend the pages and he said they reminded him of us. So lovely. Artwork is as gorgeous as ever

Glimpsing the slices of Emma and Alexander's life together continues to be so incredibly charming. The unique art style and attention to fashion and design reminds me a lot of Ai Yazawa, mangaka of Nana and Neighborhood Story.
Every line and panel is pure poetry, and though it reads like a slow burn with the obvious tension between them, readers are FED with cute moments each scene which keeps me waiting for the next volume.

I love the series so far, with its beautiful artwork, introspective dialogue, and humorous dialogue. However, the authors confirm that the relationship, not being merely platonic or romantic, hurt more than I anticipated. Thank you, NetGalley and publishers, for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Astonishingly chic. There is so much warmth between him and her that transcends friendship but isn't stereotypical love. A love for each other's freedom? The full colour art and all the scattered art sketches make me gasp. There is a real energy to it all.
