On a cobblestone street, a moment was shared by two people. One day, by chance… he, a police officer met she, a runaway heiress. She was looking for a job and he welcomed her as the new police station receptionist.
I'm genuinely in love with this one!! The art style is absolutely stunning, and the film like storytelling is superb!! I love seeing random "scenes" from the characters' lives and just the way they interact with each other. Their dialogue and witty commentary, alongside the unique storytelling, genuinely make for sure a compelling story! I can't wait to see what the author has in store for the next volumes!!
Thank you Udon Entertainment and NetGalley for an arc of this volume!

Veil continues to be a visual tasting menu served up by Kotteri. Even the characters' images as reflected in a teacup look gorgeous. This title continues to be light on the plot, but I suppose by the second volume this qualifies as a slice of life romance between two lovely adults. It's a light read with beautiful art where you just watch two adults flirting with each other. Amidst current events, this volume qualifies as a soothing comfort read.

This story is for the ambience. It’s perfect to relax and giggle at the amazing chemistry the main characters have. But if you’re looking for something with complex character arcs and a clear resolution, this isn’t it.
Veil Volume 2 continues the shenanigans of this elegant couple. There’s flirting, there are some mishaps, and there is a sense that they get closer.
There’s a delicate subtlety to this book and how it manages its characters. It’s not a heart wrenching romance, there’s no dramatic tension at all, but it shows the growth of their love quietly. Like those two friends everyone has that are basically an item but just didn’t make a big fuss about it.
Their character arcs are just as delicate and subtle in that you can see their maturity and how each rubs off on the other.
Veil Volume 2 like it’s predecessor is more like a compilation of short stories and moments between these characters,
All accompanied with the most elegant art.

This was so cute, just like the first volume. There isn't much more to say. It’s simply beautiful in both art style and story. I loved their interactions in this volume. There is so much love between them, and it feels so pure. The manga is filled with heartfelt moments that really tug at my heartstrings.

Kotteri graces us with this beautiful, colorful, charming manga. It tells the story of a couple who met by chance and develop a beautiful relationship. A friendship that turns into a slow burn romance. I loved it!

Love, just love! Much like the first volume, the illustration and is just as beautiful in this one. It's such a uniquely illustrated and written story. It feels like not a lot of words pass between them, but so much is being said. I'll definitely be adding these series to my shelf, there's just so much to admire. All the recommendations!

I think this is a very interesting premise and the artwork is stunning throughout the manga. However, one thing that did bother me was the lack character development/overarching story

This couple is soooo cute together and both are the most attractive pair ever! I love the expressiveness of the facial and the elegance of the stories told in snippets. We dont get much of plot but more on the day to day life of them which showed their closeness

“I like looking at you when you’re enjoying a scent.”
Once again, the artwork is stunning. The relationship between the two main leads makes me squeal with how cute they are and the romantic tension between them. I love when the FMC teases the MMC. It is so adorable. The flirting between the two is top tier.
This graphic novel is so beautiful, and it cheers me up every time I get the chance to read it. The yearning between the main couple is SO REAL. There are additional sketches and drawings in the book that truly highlight how beautiful the artwork is and how talented the artist is. I just love looking at this graphic novel. And there is more. The added monologues and reading the dialogue are also quite amazing as well. It is a story that I get totally absorbed into. Time passes by too quickly when I’m reading the Veil Volumes.
I’m giving this 5/5 stars because it is fun to read and because of how beautiful it is. It is totally worth buying, and even collecting, I think so. I’m thankful for being gifted the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I read this book but I will not continue the series, it's not bad it just doesn't interest me as much as I thought it would...

If this had a fashion coffee table book of all their looks, I’d buy it in a heart beat. I think out of the subtle growing love between them, they just visually suit each other so well and I really liked seeing that.

The second volume took this story to the next level and i enjoyed it. The art and the storyline are both good. It was enjoyable to continue their story and see their pov and the energy. I also enjoyed the style of storytelling - something different from the usual.
PS. It is delicious what they have done with the covers of both volumes!

This second volume is as charming and delicate as ever; what's more, I really like the fact that the covers of the first two volumes have come together to form a whole.
I still love their adorable mischievousness and their continuing relationship.
Even the sketches give off something.
And then that final scene! How could I not melt?

I adore the decision where veil's double spread illustration was split across two volumes. Its not something seen very often, and if we do, its the book edges are typically lined up to form an illustration.
Admittedly, i haven't read many manga with color, but Kotteri does a phenomenal job with conveying motion and adding color to those extra gestures.
The illustrations and character designs are timeless, and I love the bits where there's insight into each characters POV during a scene. Each scene is short but so sweet. I could read about these two all day. There's not really a plot to this series, and its more like a collection of loosely connected short stories, but I've enjoyed it nonetheless - even with their vaguely defined relationship. Its never really clear if they're lovers or friends, but why not both?
The typography is impressive. I am not too familiar with fonts, but the slanted handwritten look is a nice touch, especially with the letter variations. It adds to the cozy feeling - somehow.

Volume 2 continues where Volume 1 left off. Again, Kotteri's art and storytelling is phenomenal. These characters feel so real and it's fascinating to see their everyday life and moments. I love this story and art so much!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Veil 2 continues to be a beautiful collection of short full colour comics by Kotteri. Comics interspersed with the occasional prose, and plenty of beautiful illustrations depicting him and her in various outfits and settings. This is a really charming series with appeal for general graphic novel readers as well as fans of manga and small press comics.

Absolutely gorgeous work! Just as charming and soft as the first volume, and full of stunning panels.
The relationship between him and her is very sweet and the episodic structure of the story helps to keep it playful, but you can see the trust between them growing and it's really lovely.
The black panels in Scene 24 were an interesting touch too - giving her perspective.
Wonderful piece of art! Looking forward to more!
P.S. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Absolutely gorgeous and sensual, I gave the first 3.7 but even in the space of the 30 min between me reading the volumes I just got hyped up. Two volumes in and the are still called “Him” and “Her” who needs names when so much comes across from hand motions and beautiful touches. The leading lady is blind, and like Her, we do not see a lot but readers sure as heck can feel it.
Highly recommend for a unique reading, thanks to Netgally and Udon press. This is absolutely one I’ll be buying a physical copy of.

Thank you so much to Udon Ent. and Mangasplaining for finally bringing a beloved series to English and for the ARC!
As always, I'll write a lenghty review on my blog and update the link later on. I'm planning to review both volumes together for reasons I'll explain, so I'll copy & paste this excerpt to both volumes. My rating is 2.5 stars.
I'm ... conflicted, to say the least. I've known Veil since, I don't know, forever. Kotteri's art style is distinct, eye-catching. Their fashion sense and attention to detail, talent in bringing intimacy to life on page is immaculate. You see Veil's protagonists, and you immediately want to know more about them. I have a friend who collects the JP volumes so I had a chance to take a look at a later volume, and of course, the word 'beautiful' doesn't even begin to capture the feeling this work fills you with.
As I have said, I had a chance to look at, if I remember correctly, the fifth volume, so I was expeecting a somewhat vignette-like structure. Yet still, the work took me by surprise and not in a positive way. I expected to fall head over heels for the two but was taken aback by how... flat it all felt altogether.
The reason I wanted to review both volumes together is that the first volume reads more like a scrapbook or ideabook where pieces are thrown together without caring too much about a narrative structure. Not that I think it matters a lot, but I couldn't even figure out whether the police and the heiress were already dating or not given how intimate they look. The second volume is more consistent in that regard compared to the first and definitely needs to be read together, but well...
The translation reads beautifully and the lettering is amazing, sovisually and production-wise, the volume is top notch! I can't, however, speak as favorably about the series itself, unfortunately. Maybe it gets better? Who knows!

The second volume of Veil explores in a deeper way the two protagonists with their phobias, showing aspects of them nearer to a sense of rom-com then to the mysteries I thought were central in the previous one, while I am sure they have not been abandoned. The style remains unique, with a character design whose beautiness is perfect for the nature of fashion magazine/artbook this series aspires to follow, while the world continues to shine despite the hidden details it is still holding back. A continuation which make me curious of the future of this publication.
FINAL VERDICT: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
