The Last Mrs. Sinclair starts off feeling like it’s going to be a classic story about a gold digger chasing an older man for his money — but then the strings start to unravel, and things get real twisty, real fast. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, the plot shifts again. It’s a thriller that keeps you guessing all the way through. I flew through it. If you liked First Lie Wins, this one should definitely be on your list.

Gosh, The Last Mrs Sinclair completely reeled me in from the very beginningMoody, atmospheric, and dripping with an underlying tone of menace threaded throughout, this book was giving Rebecca vibes with a modern twist, and I’m here for it!!
Twenty-four-year-old Leah is on a mission: she wants a wealthy man who’ll spoil her and give her the luxurious life she dreams of. When she meets 54-year-old Miles Sinclair, he seems like the perfect catch, and when he invites her to stay at his chateau in France, Leah jumps at the chance. She thinks this could be the beginning of something wonderful, but things quickly take a darker turn.
This was my first read by this author, and I’m definitely going to be reading more of their work.

I’ll admit it—I’m a sucker for any story where the new woman steps into a fancy estate with just enough dark history to make things weird.
Leah knows what she wants—comfort, money, the kind of stability her childhood definitely didn’t give her—and she sees her shot with recently widowed Miles Sinclair. When he whisks her off to his dreamy chateau in the French countryside, it seems like she’s finally made it. Except… the dead wife looms large, his cousin Vivienne is clearly not a fan, and the whole place has that subtle “this house keeps secrets” vibe.
I stayed at an old estate in the French countryside once and even without a suspicious death (that I know of anyway) , it was giving haunted energy. So yeah, I was fully on board with this one. Twisty, tense, and just the right amount of eerie.
Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the ARC!

This was a new author for me and I will definitely be looking out for more of their books. This was a fast paced psychological thriller full of suspense, intrigue. secrets and lies.

Not sure what to say about this book. It's very well written but the characters are so awful it is really hard to care about them and what happens to them.
Thanks to Netgalley for this ARC in return for my honest review

After reading a previous book by this author I was intrigued to read this new one - and I was not disappointed.
Leah is looking for a life of luxury - luckily her new boyfriend Miles Sinclair can provide the lifestyle she is looking for, starting with spending the summer at his French chateau. But what really happened to the previous Mrs Sinclair?
A great read.

I really enjoyed this! This was a new writer for me and I will definitely be checking our their other books! Solid plot, fast pace, well-developed and flawed characters, good (if somewhat predictable) twists, and overall just well-written. Thank you so much for the ARC!

I really wanted to love The Last Mrs. Sinclair, especially because I received it as an ARC from NetGalley and was excited to dive into something new. But unfortunately, this one just didn’t work for me.
I typically fly through thrillers in a day or two, but this book took me forever to finish. The plot felt all over the place — jumping timelines, too many twists that didn’t feel earned, and characters I struggled to connect with. I found myself confused more often than intrigued, and by the time things started making sense, I had already checked out emotionally.
There were glimmers of a good story buried underneath it all, and I think with a tighter structure, it could have been a solid domestic thriller. But for me, it just missed the mark.

Twisty domestic psychological thriller, with touches of glamour and unlikeable characters.
Since being let down by her father, Leah has heeded her mother's advice to seek financial security, not love, in relationships. This is why she is sitting at a cocktail bar, wearing just the right clothes, jewellery and make up to attract the right sort of man.
She is about to leave when Miles arrives, still grieving for his wife, and she decides to stay and comfort him a little. The sex isn't earth shattering but it's passable and his wealth is a definite bonus.
It isn't until she goes with him to his château in France that she starts to unravel the secrets at the heart of his family, but by then is it too late to save herself?

Spicy (but not in a titillating way), 1st person dual point of view (Leah & Vivienne), contemporary mystery/thriller. I flew through this book! Full of characters you love to hate, twists & turns, and a great ending. This is a fast paced perfect length story. I'll be reading more from this author.

Such a good read I will be recommending to my book buddies causss this was an easy read and I kept wanting to know he did what

Oh my word, what a tangled web of lies this turned out to be. Quite delicious in the way it manipulated both the characters and the reader so that you’re left with a wry smile at the end.
Leah Williams is a beautiful young woman, who knows what she wants and once she is approached by Miles Sinclair in swanky London bar, she wants what he has to offer. He’s rich, a grieving widower, and seems to be so beguiled by Leah that their thirty year age gap is no barrier to lust. Once at Miles’ chateau in France, their relationship strengthens and the only down side of this idyllic setting is the domineering presence of Miles’ cousin, Vivienne, who acts as chatelaine of the chateau, and who is a constant reminder of the past.
All is not what it seems at the chateau, there’s a definite sinister edginess and some deadly secrets about what happened to the last Mrs Sinclair and with some clever twists I didn’t see coming The Last Mrs Sinclair is a definite page turner.

The story revolves around Leah Williams, who seeks a life of luxury and security. Leah finds an opportunity with Miles Sinclair, a widower where she moves to chateau in the French countryside, Leah discovers unsettling details about the previous Mrs. Sinclair's death. This is a gripping psychological thriller with elements of suspense and intrigue.

This book has everything I love and need in a book. Just enough mystery to keep you entertained but not over done that it gets cheesy (if you know, you know). This is one of those books you HAVE to finish in one sitting because you have to know what's next. Very much enjoyed it!

As always with T. J. Emerson I was drawn in to the secrets and lies and just had to find out the truth.

What a great psychological thriller with so many twist and turns! Kept me engaged the entire time. What things people will do for money and revenge is crazy!

Some people just want the finer things in life. This is a twisty, fun thriller than starts off like a typical "Rebecca" story, but then goes off the rails into another story all together. Four stars for an original story that had unlikeable characters but a interesting plot. Leah Williams had long been told by her mother to go after money and not love. Leah spends her time in expensive hotel bars hoping to find a rich husband and one day meets Miles Sinclair. Miles is a widower and is attractive but Leah is only attracted to his money. After a short courtship he invites her to the French Chateau owned by his family and currently occupied by his cousin Vivienne who is helping out as a housekeeper. Vivienne isn't very pleasant to Leah, after all there is more than a 20 year age difference-but this family and this house contains many secrets, secrets which may prove deadly.
After the couple get engaged, Leah finds herself rather isolated in the country and she becomes obsessed with the mystery of how Miles first wife died from a fall from this very Chateau. If this sounds familiar, be assured this is just the tip of the iceberg and lots of twists ands surprises are in store in this novel. I finished this one in 24 hours and even though I initially hated Leah, I came to enjoy her as a main character. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this ARC in exchange for a review.

The Last Mrs Sinclair is the third book I've read from Emerson and is definitely my favourite to date.
It's a fast paced, pulse pounder of a thriller and it had me hooked! What a wild ride it took us on!
Just how twisty can one book be? I had to scrape my jaw off the floor more than once...Didn't see that one coming at all. Totally oblivious!
I found the characters to be on the marmitey side of life, whilst I couldn't emotionally invest in any of them, they certainly made for fantastic reading.
A thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining story of sex, lies and one woman's need for greed.

Wow!! I was not expecting even 1/4 of the surprises this book doled out.
Leah is an opportunist who th8ngs she’s making a good marriage with a wealthy older man.
However, turns out she’s being played and one of,the people who is playing her is being played by the other player!
Played much??
My job dropped with all the delicious backstabbing, lies, and betrayals. The final one is revealed in the epilogue which I didn’t see at all!
Great read!

The Last Mrs Sinclair by T. J. Emerson is a great thriller with intriguing characters.
Even though I found this to story move slowly, it was a solid read.
The twists are so masterfully plotted out and executed.
I liked the plot and the characters were a lot of fun.
Emerson’s atmospheric storytelling and nuanced character portrayals make the book a compelling read for fans of the genre.
