The cover and title immediately drew me to this collection, but unfortunately it was just ok. It felt like in an attempt to make the poems relatable, most of them were simplified to the point of not being unique. I also was not a fan of the rhyme structure that was used in multiple poems. For example, in the poem “Around Again,” it says:

“Malaise and mundane
It’s all the same
My stupid brain
I can’t catch a break”

The rhyming of mundane, same, and brain felt juvenile and lazy, and it didn’t even follow through by ending the last line with another rhyme (which I know is probably just a style choice, but I bothered me). I did really enjoy the poems “For My Girls” and “This Is Life,” though.

This is a beautiful collection of poetry that gives so much into all the feelings that come along with "love, loss and everything in between" as it's called. It's raw emotion put down in words that are so heartfelt and truly let you feel them. I haven't read a lot of poetry in the past, but I have been reaching for it lately while I'm going through some emotions of my own after losing my best friend/mom unexpectedly less than a year ago and also trying to navigate life for my father, who's dementia progressed rapidly after we lost her. This book helped me in a way that is hard to explain.

Soul-stirring Poetry & Prose Collections for The Hopeful and Brokenhearted

Nicole Loher builds momentum through her book by beginning with Love, moving through Loss, and closing with a reflective chapter titled Everything In Between. Nicole begins the first chapter with the tenderness of falling in love. The Love part captures patience, slow-burning love, fear of intimacy, and acceptance. She focuses on the kind of renewed love many of us seek. In contrast to the first chapter, Nicole explores grief, trauma, and her emotional struggles while coping with divorce. The final chapter, Everything In Between, weaves both Love and Loss themes to portray a journey of rebirth& healing.

Like many poets, Nicole highlights specific breakthrough moments – rooted in divorce, trauma, and tenderness of love. Her writing conveys the familiar pattern of healing a broken heart that involves radical acceptance, trust, and grace.

One of my favorite poem, “A Different Perspective”, captures the tenderness of falling in love beautifully. However, I found myself wishing she had shared more about her journey in finding that love. In the Loss chapter, Nicole conveys intense emotions with poignant clarity, making it deeply relatable for readers who’ve experienced similar heartbreak. Personally, the Loss chapter resonated with me the most, as I, too, have gone through a divorce. Nicole’s word choices are simple yet powerful, expressing pain and discomfort with grace. However, I also noticed that some parts felt a bit underdeveloped and could have benefited from more emotional depth. I believe the poetry and prose collections are not only beautiful in content but also complemented by the book’s stunning cover design.

If you’ve been struggling with a painful breakup and are searching for words that can soothe your soul, this poetry collection is for you.

Thank you Rising Action Publishing, Nicole Loher, and Net Galley for giving me the chance to read the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Love, Loss, and Everything in Between is a collection of poetry and prose perfectly described by the title.
The book is divided into sections of love loss and everything in between, and I found each section relatable, moving, and heartfelt. Told from real experiences of the author, including resilience, renewal, and identity, this book takes you on a journey of hope and self-healing.
I'd say there's something for almost everyone within this collection.

Love, Loss, and Everything In Between is divided into three sections.

Love follows when the author was in a cozy, comfortable relationship, and we as the readers can tell that there was love there in the ways that she writes. As well, there is also talks of love between friends in this section. I appreciated that platonic love was mentioned and not just romantic love, as both are important. This section had my favourite poem of the whole collection in it titled Verdon Gorge. It was such a great depiction of subtle acts of love and acts of service.

Loss follows the aftermath of a breakup. All the emotions and feelings and things that happen to you during this time.

Everything In Between follows a mix of things. There's talks of family, friends, life in general, etc. Overall, this section was my favourite.

This collection of poems was well written, and although not all of the poems related to me, I still enjoyed reading every single one of them as I could tell they were very heartfelt.

I found the poetry to be laced with both love and heartbreak, hope and fear, and I adored this aspect of the book. I found that the poetry spoke a thousand words even when it was short and Loher was able to craft a poetry book to resonate with the reader. There were times wherein the poetry felt a bit childish due to the rhyming but otherwise I loved the poetry book as a whole.

This mixture of essay and poetry shows that you don’t have to stick to one form to have a cohesive, impactful narrative. For writers who are interested in crossing genre lines and erasing the boundaries between traditional forms, Nicole Loher paves the way for new kinds of experimentation and connection with the reader.

I recieved a digital ARC of this book from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for review.

This book of poems has theee sections: love, loss, and everything in between. Love focuses on a time where the author fell in love and was in love with someone. Loss focuses on the fallout of the relationship ending. Everything in between focuses on the in between—the trauma of childhood and adulthood, as well as other things in between. Interspersed with the poems are short passages of introspection/reflection.

Overall I enjoyed the poems in this book. I found the poems in everything in between to be my favorites.

This little floral-covered beauty surprised me! It’s 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒕𝒉𝒇𝒖𝒍, 𝐫𝐚𝐰, and 𝒇𝒖𝒍𝒍 of the kind of words that hit different when you’re sorting through your own soft spots. Nicole Loher’s poetry & prose is ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑡-ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑣𝑦 and 𝑞𝑢𝑖𝑒𝑡𝑙𝑦 ℎ𝑜𝑝𝑒𝑓𝑢𝑙. It doesn’t try to be flashy. It just 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐬. 💖🥹

Each piece is short but 𝒔𝒐 layered — touching on heartbreak, healing, and the messy middle parts of growth. You can tell this was written in 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍-𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 pain but with a future self in mind. It’s not just about falling apart — it’s about finding your way back. 🗺️📍

Also… the chapter on learning how to love yourself again?? I 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒆𝒅 that. 😩😭

If you’ve ever been through a tough goodbye, questioned your worth, or tried to bloom again after a long winter… this collection is for 𝒚𝒐𝒖. 💕

Arc review.

The poems are written beautifully.
But a lot of them just don't really speak to me..
I think it's a good collection with all kinds of poems in there, so there is something for everyone.
They are easy to understand and to read.
So I do recommend the book.

3.5/5.

Thank you to everyone involved for the arc.

4.5 stars! Wow this collection is phenomenal, the author really tapped into so many complicated emotions but was able to write them down so anyone could feel it and connect with it. Her writing is so beautiful, and I could read hundreds of pages more. Absolutely a collection I will be recommending to my friends & followers.

Thank you to NetGalley and Rising Action for the eARC!

This book has found a place alongside my favorite poetry books. It was a bit slow at the beginning, but Loher quickly found her pace and I devoured this book in two sittings. My favorite type of poetry is the kind that tells a story and evokes emotion without dulling everything down to make it seem polished and metaphorical. Love, Loss, and Everything In Between captured raw emotion in all stages, and I would highly recommend this debut poetry book.

Absolutely beautiful poetry I could easily read several times over.

Incredibly evocative and immersive, with a range from sad and deep to loving and full of emotion.

I'll defiently be wanting a physical copy for at home and will be following the author to read more of her work.

ARC provided by NetGalley for review.

This entire collection could have been 500 pages long and I wouldn't have gotten tired of it. The Love section felt like a warm cozy hug, perfectly describing many different kinda of love. The Loss section felt rational and relatable, allowing the reader to feel not alone in those emotions. Our Home was definitely one of my favorites from Loss. The Everything In Between section is refreshing since not many poetry collections place a focus on all the other emotions we experience as we get from one day to another.

Posted on GoodReads and Storygraph, will be posted on Fable when the book is added.

— I can’t take your pain away, but I can feel with you. And sometimes, that’s enough.—

This book of poetry was beautifully written. Emotional and heartbreaking. There’s a piece in there for everyone, likely several to be completely honest.

Thank you NetGalley for the arc.
