Early in the book journey: “Ok, I get it. This baby-moon is going to go sideways.”
Chapter 21: “W.T.A.F am I reading??!!”
Chapter 22: “Ohhhh, this is the twist we’re going with.”
In true KMod fashion, as soon as you think you know how Sadie and Cal’s story is going to play out, she reveals her twisted little plans for all involved. Brilliant.

Kiersten Modglin always knows how to create an eerie, unsettling vibe, and "The Last Trip" definitely has that creeping tension she's known for. From the start, you can sense that something's off—she nails that slow-burn suspense.
The audiobook itself was well produced, with clean sound and strong dual narration by Abigail Reno and Jay Myers. Abigail, in particular, delivered the suspenseful moments with just the right tone. Dual narration is always a plus, helping to keep the POVs distinct and engaging.
That said, this wasn’t my favorite of hers. The story takes a long time to build, and while the payoff is twisty and chaotic, it felt a little too rushed and over-the-top for me. The tension was there, but the twists at the end felt more jarring than satisfying. It didn’t quite stick the landing in the way I was hoping.
Still, if you enjoy a quietly sinister atmosphere and like stories that make you question everything by the final chapter, this is worth the listen. KMod fans will enjoy the ride—just temper your expectations for where it ends up.

This was my first Kiersten Modglin book and it will not be my last! I really enjoyed it. This is an author whose backlist I definitely want to check out.

I am huge Kiersten Modglin fan. Most of what she writes I love. This one is a good one. I loved it. The story just gets out of hand. Seems pretty normal in the beginning, then it just gets crazy. Which is in true form for this author. I can say that I didn't see some of the twists coming. But if you know this author, you know there are always twists. The story is fast paced, short, and full of punch,
Great book

I listened to the audiobook and the narrators were both great! I’m a huge fan of the author and while this book was twisty and I enjoyed it, she has others that I’ve liked more. It is an easy, quick read- or listen- and held my attention throughout. Highly recommend anything by this author.

A couple goes on a trip to a secluded cabin on their baby moon. However, things start to feel off for her. The couple who owns the cabin always seems to be around, the long lost daughter of her fiancé shows up for lunch and she knows her and doesn’t know why she is lying.
We are lost for a good chuck on the story. Her, now, him before. Her, pregnant and on a trip with her fiancé, him before meeting a woman and following her and making her fall in love with him and be with him.
Eventually we learn that he met and fell in love with Jenelle, but she couldn’t get pregnant, so he convinces his wife Jenelle to let I’m step out of the relationship and get another woman pregnant, and is convinced the woman would let him take the child for themselves. He meets Sadie and impregnates her, her now.
Turns out Jenelle and Sadie met prior at a spin class and started a friendship, that coursed into the start of a relationship. But Sadie ended it because she found out she was pregnant and decided to stay with Cal. It all comes to heed when Sadie follows Cal and winds up at Jenelle’s apartment.
It was kind of a wild ride. Sadie was so annoying, being so high strung and one note for the entire book. Too on edge. Then when it all falls together and it’s a mess of coincidences and a complex crazy plan to make a family. It was a little much for me.

This was one of those books that I just could not put down. I would say "one more chapter" and next thing I knew, I had finished the book in ONE day! If you need a book that you just can't put down, then this is the one for you!!

Fast paced psychological thriller. Twisty and dark, just like Modglin likes. This one was a tiny bit predictable but I still enjoyed where she took it.
Sadie and her fiancé are taking their last trip before their daughter arrives. The trip ends up exposing more than Sadie bargained for.
The narrator of this audio was exceptional. Great intonation and she read the suspenseful parts with ease. This was actually a dual narrator audiobook, which I always love. Really brings the book to life. Can't wait for more Modglin!!

This author can do no wrong in my opinion, loved this book too! Finished it in one sitting....could not put it down.

A great thriller, packed with surprises that keep you hooked. Once again, Modglin includes LGBTQ representation!

Kiersten Modglin has done it again with another rollercoaster ride of a thriller. This one is sure to have you on the edge of your seat. And, like many Modglin books (which is part of what I love about her books!), it’s relatively short, making this delightful suspense easy to binge.
The Last Trip follows Sadie and Calvin as they decide to go on a quick babymoon getaway to the mountains shortly before their first child is due to be born. When Calvin finds out some very unexpected news right before the trip, things are off to a rocky start and only become worse when the cabin owners seem to develop a strange obsession with the couple. Sadie and Calvin’s lives as they thought they knew them quickly begin to unravel.
Thank you to Kiersten Modglin, Dreamscape Media, & NetGalley for the ARC! All opinions are my own.

Kristin Modglin delivers another of her signature stories featuring manipulation and betrayal in this latest novel.
After a couple go away for a babymoon aka one last getaway before their baby arrives, they discover that the carefully selected air bnb is very different from the trip that they dreamed of.
Why do the elderly couple who own the same to be so interested in them? And why is there a distinctly creepy vibe to them?
The answer to that is far beyond what one might expect. But then - with a necessary suspension of disbelief - that is precisely what this writer specialises in delivering. Her latest story is very entertaining, and will be eagerly welcomed by her fans. It gets 3.5 stars.

ARC Review
This was a quick, fun, twisty read. If you're looking for a fast paced thriller with the same vibes as Rock Paper Scissors, I highly recommend!

Calvin and Sadie decide to spend their baby moon in a remote cabin. Before they even leave, they find out some shocking news. Sadie feels like she is being watched at the cabin. Strange things continue to happen and Sadie doesn’t know how to trust.
This is a super fast read with lots of twists. I had no idea what was going to happen until it happened. I felt the ending was a bit abrupt and at times far fetched.
Thank you to Kiersten Modglin, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for anfor honest review.

This book was bananas. Pretty much like all Kiersten Modglin books. A few loose ends, like (not a spoiler) the whole nurse in wrong room thing. Did I miss something?
Anyways, this book was really entertaining, kept me wanting to keep reading it. Her plot twists are insane and I never saw it coming. Highly recommend. Just dropped a star because I thought she could have ended it a little less, dangerously. And the loose ends.
Thank you to NetGalley for my free ARC in exchange for an honest review of the book.

Calvin and Sadie are having a baby and going on their babymoon in the last place I would personally ever want to travel for such a thing..
Creepy and anxiety inducing - the cabin owners are always around, and they can tell that something is obviously off. Typical Kiersten Modglin, a fast, popcorn thriller. I will always pick up and read!
🎧: narration provided by Abigail Reno and Jay Myers. Both did a fabulous job with their characters.

Another great mystery from Kiersten Modglin. I was not expecting that ending! Kiersten kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the story.
Abigail Reno and Jay Myers did a great job narrating this story. I liked the alternating points of view, it helped me keep track of who was speaking.

This is a solid Kiersten Modglin book and one of the more interesting ones. I find I like her newer books more than her earlier ones. They are always suspenseful, entertaining and quick and easy reads. I appreciate books like this that are a good distraction from the stressors of everyday life.

I love reading Kiersten Modglin books. She comes up with the best twists. I always think, how did she come up with that?? But, the great thing is that we get the enjoyment out of it.
This is a great one guys, don't miss out! Read it! 5 stars!
Many thanks to Net Galley and Dreamscape Media for an audio ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

"I have to tell you something."
Yeah, that's not a sentence you ever want to hear from your baby daddy, especially in a Kiersten Modglin psychological thriller. But we hear Cal say that to his pregnant fiancee, Sadie, before The Last Trip they can take before their baby girl is born, a babymoon.
Now the news is shocking but Sadie and Cal seem to take it in stride and head to their rented remote cabin in the snowy mountains. Once there everything goes off the rails, from the creepy stalking elderly couple renting them the cabin and the invited guest who shows up for dinner and is not who they say they are according to Sadie.
Things only go from bad to worse when they get home and it's obvious someone's been in their apartment. What follows is such a WTF twisted tale I was truly struck speechless by the end.
I loved the dual POVs performed by voice actress Abigail Reno and voice actor Jay Myers. It was my first time being entertained by both and I can't wait to hear more from them. Abigail's rightly paranoid Sadie was on point. Jay's nuanced interpretation of Cal was perfect.
The start of the audiobook is Sadie in the present and Cal in the past telling how he pursued Sadie. Silly me thought how sweet. Almost forgot The Last Trip is a Kiersten Modglin story. It's all artificial sweetener to soften my brain for when she makes it explode by the end! The Last Trip is a quick thriller joy ride!
