I always liked to think if something bad ever happened that I would have my brother's back or he would have mine. In this book these sisters don't care one bit to throw the other one under the bus.

Another Eddie Flynn book I loved. Again the writing style is right up my alley. I think Mr. Cavanagh will be an auto buy for me from now on.

This thriller had me guessing the whole time. Just when i thought I had it figured out, another twist reversed my course. This book was a wild ride of who done it had you clinging to the edge of the seat right till the end. A brilliant story told through multiple points of view. A cat and mouse chase with a jaw dropping finale. Highly recommend.

What an amazing concept! My mind was buzzing the entire time trying to figure out whodunnit. Cavanagh drops so many little hints and clues, but just when you think you have the upper hand, he drops another tidbit that changes your mind. I had no idea who the killer was until the reveal.

I loved the structure of this book - we got chapters from Eddie’s perspective, Kate, the other lawyers, perspective, and “She”. The She chapters are where most of the hints can be found, but Cavanagh makes sure it’s impossible to guess the real murderer.

When Eddie and Kate finally started to put the pieces together I was rooting for them so hard, even though I knew I would be heartbroken to know who the killer was because the entire time I both hated and felt for both sisters! When the clues all finally came together… man, was it satisfying.

My only gripe was where did the killer learn to ride and kill with such precision on a motorcycle?! Steve, I need some backstory here!

This is the fifth novel in Cavanagh’s Eddie Flynn Series, but you don’t need to have read the first four to read this one.

Steve Cavanagh is quickly becoming one of my favorite mystery/thriller authors. This was my third Eddie Flynn book—and even though I’ve been reading the series out of order, it hasn’t affected my enjoyment at all.

This story had me hooked right from the start: two sisters on trial for their father’s murder, each blaming the other? I was in. The 911 call pulls you in fast, and just when you think you’ve figured out who did it… think again. There are twists all the way through.

One of my favorite parts was getting a POV from the killer—it’s always fascinating to get inside their mind, and it was done so well here.

Between the dark details, courtroom drama, and all the tense moments leading up to the verdict, this was such a satisfying read. I can’t wait to dive into more of the series!

I was CONVINCED that I knew which sister was innocent. Like willing to bet money on it. And then I was dead wrong. The ending had me rush reading to find out more faster.

All I can say is just WOW.

This is such a great series! If you love murder mysteries with courtroom drama, this book will be perfect for you!

Eddie Flynn is a great main character. What makes him great is he is not perfect, but he is trying to be a better person even though he might bend the law to help save his clients. I even loved the new characters in this book. They are going to be a great addition to this series.

I loved all of the courtroom details. It made you feel like you were in the actual courtroom listening to their actual process.

Thanks NetGalley and publisher for the digital copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

I can't handle how good Steve Cavanagh's books are. I have gone down a rabbit hole and read four of them this week and I don't know how to stop. Someone lock me up please because the tension on my heart from reading these thrillers is about to burst. This is the 5th installment of the Eddie Flynn series and even though reading them in order would probably be best, I missed nothing reading them haphazardly. This story fits soundly in thriller genre, but also added amazing legal aspects. I loved the dueling siblings angle and couldn't see the ending coming.

What a great book! Kept me guessing the whole time. I highly recommend this book for fans of thrillers. This author is quickly becoming one of my favorites and a must read for me. Told her multiple points of view and one character simply known as she. It takes till the very end of the story to find out who she is. Highly recommend.

okayy i could definitely tell this was written by a lawyer! 👀⚖️🔪💼

this was the most captivating courtroom thriller i’ve ever read. two sisters are both on trial for their father’s murder, and each one claims the other did it. the story unfolds through the pov of their lawyers, and neither knows for sure if their client is truly innocent. the tension had me on the edge of my seat.

the legal knowledge in this book is so impressive! the investigation of forensics evidence & the courtroom tactics were sharp, smart, and full of twists that had me flying through the pages. the way everything slowly clicks into place was so satisfying.

brilliant, twisty, and impossible to put down.

thank you atria books & netgalley for this arc. 🖤

The classic "who done it" book....only better! This book had me in it's grip from the very beginning with the 911 call. We have two sisters, two defense teams, going against the prosecution for the murder of the sister's father. But who is really the killer? This book is a suspenseful, twisty, humorous, turn-filled, shockingly delicious must read. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Steve Cavanagh never disappoints.

Thank you NetGalley for the eArc. I will recommend this read to everyone!

I did not realize this was a re-release, and that is how it ended up on NetGalley.
I love the new cover - much more appealing.
This book was a great, fast suspense/thriller book.
Two sisters are at the scene of a murder (their Father), each one blaming the other.
I was guessing pretty much the entire book - a good who-did-it book.
Murder mystery that is fast paced - I greatly appreciate that, I can't stand when a book like this drags on, but this one did not.
There were some FANTASTIC courtroom bits, and I loved it.
Lots of different POV's as to the history of what happened.
I have not read any of the Eddie Flynn books previously, and this read just fine as a standalone. It was written so well that I do not feel I missed out on any pertinent background information.
Definitely worth a read if you want a suspense/thriller/crime book!
Thank you to NetGalley for sending me a copy of this book.
Happy Reading!

okay so this one was fast-paced and honestly a solid legal thriller. the setup? two sisters, one murdered father, and they both swear the other did it. i mean… come on. that’s a killer hook. the courtroom stuff was super readable, and the dual timelines kept me flipping pages. but there were moments where the twists felt kind of forced or overdone. like it tried a little too hard to shock me instead of just letting the story breathe. i didn’t guess the ending, which is a plus, but i also wasn’t totally satisfied with it either. kinda had that “oh… okay then” feeling when it wrapped.

Steve Cavanagh delivers another masterclass in misdirection with "Fifty-fifty," a courtroom thriller that plays with your certainty like a cat with a ball of yarn. Having read two of his previous works, I thought I was prepared for his trademark twists—I wasn't even close.

The central mystery is brilliantly simple yet impossible to crack: which sister committed the murder, Alexandria or Sophia? Both accuse each other, both have evidence against them, and both are represented by formidable lawyers. Cavanagh throws red herrings with such skillful precision that just when I believed I'd identified the guilty party, new evidence would surface, leaving me questioning everything I thought I knew.

What elevates this thriller beyond its twisty plot is witnessing the early partnership between Eddie Flynn and Kate Brooks. Having first met them in "Witness 8," exploring their origins adds surprising depth to characters I thought I understood. Eddie's vulnerability feels painfully authentic as he battles personal grief while maintaining his courtroom presence. Meanwhile, Kate's background at her previous firm and her tactical brilliance showcase a character with both intellectual prowess and emotional resilience.

Supporting characters Harry and Bloch never feel peripheral—they create a genuine sense of camaraderie that grounds the narrative amid its dizzying plot turns. Their presence transforms what could be a straightforward legal thriller into something with real heart beneath its suspenseful exterior.

The trial scenes are particularly engrossing, crafted with such tension that putting the book down becomes physically impossible. Cavanagh's pacing keeps you simultaneously satisfied and hungry for the next revelation.

I'm already looking forward to continuing the Eddie Flynn series. For thriller readers craving both intellectual challenge and emotional investment, "Fifty-fifty" is a must-read!

Thank you, Atria Books and NetGalley, for the free copy for review.

My first legal thriller (I think?) - and wow, what a ride.

I was a little hesitant at first with a simple "she said/she said" murder plot but somehow it turned it into this twisty, high-stakes courtroom rollercoaster. I loved the pacing, it truly felt like a movie playing in my head and I threw in the L&O "dun dun" at various times.

The characters were fantastic. Eddie Flynn is smart, scrappy, and just the right amount of charming - I'm rooting for this man! I also really liked how the story flips between perspectives adding layers to the chaos. With only 2 possible suspects it still kept me guessing until the very end.

My only bleh~ comment is that some of the plot layouts had such perfect timing that I was like "HOW?!" But then I remembered that this also happens in television.

Still, it was a super entertaining read that made me want more legal thrillers in my life and will continue to read the Eddie Flynn universe.

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of this book!

This book grabs you from page 1 and doesn’t let go. I felt like a ping pong ball the entire time, bouncing between “She did it!” and “No, wait… SHE did it!” 😅 The suspense is so well done, and the twists kept me guessing until the very end.
I loved the main characters, and Steve Cavanagh’s writing is razor-sharp. I’m so glad I stumbled upon his work; he’s officially on my must-read list! 🙌📚

WOW! This book had me misguided into believing I knew what happened and where it was going. The twist was there and I was there for it!!! I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves a good thriller.

Steve Cavanagh does it again with a riveting page turner. I have not been reading the Eddie Flynn series in order (I read Witness 8 which is the 8th one in the series and then this one) but I can see why he is such a beloved author. This was so propulsive and I enjoyed the dual POV with the clever unidentified "she"perspective. I was second guessing myself the entire time because I genuinely did not know who the guilty sister was! The last 20% flew by and I was surprised by the ending. I look forward to reading more by Cavanagh. Thank you Atria and Netgalley!

🄵🄸🄵🅃🅈 🄵🄸🄵🅃🅈- First of all… @netgalley got me with this one. I thought it was a new release from Steve Cavanagh, and I needed to have it. However… I realized this was actually released in 2020, and they were just doing a re release with a new cover. 😆

🅂🅈🄽🄾🄿🅂🄸🅂 - two sisters are on trial for the murder of their father. They both blame eachother. Who do you believe?

🄼🅈 🅃🄷🄾🅄🄶🄷🅃🅂- this book was completely unhinged and I loved every second of it. It kept me guessing the entire way through. The chapters alternated between multiple POV’s and when each chapter revealed new details, my opinion on who the killer was, changed. You will absolutely eat this one up if you are a thriller gal like me. Don’t worry that this is #5 in the “Eddie Flynn series”, you can read it as stand alone book without missing a beat.
