Thank you NetGalley and Hachette Audio for the eArc Nobody's Fool. This is the second book in the series including Sami Kierce. I didn't read the first book and I was not lost in this one. I recommend it. its has a really good storyline.

Audio book review: Vikas Adam delivers a brilliant performance and generates the perfect combination of suspense and chilling fear through out this story. The book itself is a great piece and therefore the telling only enhances the effect. Could not stop listening to this and even extended my route home so I could listen to more!

After being a Harlan Coben fan for 20 years, I can tell you that this book does not disappoint. Not only does the plot line keep you coming back for more, but the way Coben brings his characters to life is truly a gift. One character in particular had such an engaging back story that he could have his own book. Coben is a master at twists and turns and making us really care about the ending. This story was an engaging read about a dead girl, a missing girl, a found girl, and the lengths a family will go for love. Thank you to @HachetteAudio for lending an early edition so that I could enjoy this novel.

This is my second Harlan Conan and it’s also a 5 star for me just like his previous book I read from him.
I really enjoy the writing style. This one is super twisty. So much going on that I never could have guessed. It kept me coming back to keep on reading to see why what going to happen.
I really enjoyed the main character and piecing things together through his eyes. I will be reading way more of this authors books.
Thank you to NetGalley for proving me either the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love Harlan Coben. That said, I'm finding his stand alone books to be following a formula and, with this one, I began to loose interest about 60% of the way through. It's an interesting mystery but just goes on and on until I didn't really care anymore.
The narrator, Vikas Adam, was wonderful. Hard to believe the narration was all one person. So to sum it up: loved the narration and got bored with the story.

There is just something about Harlan Coben's thrillers that makes them highly engaging, so I couldn't resist adding Nobody's Fool straight away. I wrongly assumed that I had already read the first Detective Sami Kierce book though... Which I ended up doing before listening to this audiobook, although I can now say that Nobody's Fool can be read as a stand-alone without any issues. Our main character Sami Kierce only plays a minor role in the first book, and this second book focuses on completely different cases instead... And I'm happy to announce that I ended up having such a great time listening to this story!
Like I said before, while Sami Kierce isn't a new character, Nobody's Fool can very easily be read as a stand-alone as we don't exactly get to learn much about his character in the first book and this story focuses on completely different cases instead. I actually preferred this sequel myself, mostly because it was easier to root for Sami Kierce as he tried to solve both cases close to him... He is no longer a detective and now works as an (unofficial) private investigator, which is always an angle I enjoy in thrillers. The fact that he teaches a crime class and uses his students in his investigations is a brilliant touch, and it also helped adding a dose of humor to lighten things up. The Sherlock Holmes references were likewise a bonus!
Nobody's Fool focuses on two cases, and both are linked to our main character's past. This made you feel more invested in the outcome, and it was interesting to learn more about past and present. I do have to say that the pace wasn't always consistent, and there were parts where the story slowed down a bit too much to my taste... But as a whole I was without doubt still entertained by this story. There were also a couple of twists involved that I definitely didn't see coming, although I do wish that the ending would have been more neatly wrapped up.
As for the audiobook itself: the narrator has a voice that is very easy to listen to. It's true that he speaks quite slowly at times, but it is done in a way that didn't make me want to speed things up just to get it over with... So I personally didn't mind the pace. His voice also fitted the main character Sami Kierce very well, and I liked how he used different voices for the other characters. True, there were one or two voices that could be a bit annoying, but as a whole they fitted the other characters well.
Nobody's Fool has quite a big cast of characters and it can take some time to keep them all apart, but it wasn't too difficult to do so even on audio. Sami Kierce makes for a great flawed main character, and I especially liked his students and how they helped the investigations along the way. The cases themselves are both intriguing, and I was very much invested in their outcomes. It's true that the way things ended didn't quite hit the mark for me personally, but there is no denying that the journey itself was very entertaining. All in all another successful Harlan Coben book!

I'm a Harlan Coben fan--he can write a good twisty mystery that keeps my attention--but he is a prolific writer, so I haven't read them all and when I requested this book, I didn't realize it was the second in a series, but you definitely don't need to read the first one to enjoy "Nobody's Fool."
In this installment, Sami Kierce is a new father working as a private investigator and instructor. During one of his classes, a woman he recognizes from 20+ years ago appears and Sami must track her down as the way their relationship ended back then is one of the most significant moments in his life and he wants answers.
At the same time, a murderer that Sami helped put behind bars is now being let out due to a technicality--an error that Sami made (I assume this is the story in the first book)--and Sami can't help but wonder if the two are somehow linked.
As expected, it's a solid detective story with clues appearing as the story goes on revealing the truth in a well-packed sometimes unexpected way.
It is more of a detective story than the super-twisted psychological thriller that Coben sometimes writes, but it was an enjoyable listen as I got chores done over a weekend.

Thank you to Netgalley and the UK publishers for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book serves typical and vintage Harlan Coben. It has all the hallmarks that make his work so enjoyable. A carefully woven plots with many different layers which come together perfectly and leave your jaw on the floor. Characters to cheer for, others to dislike.
I loved the ending and wished I had seen it coming. Will definitely read a third instalment in this series, which was hinted at. There are a few easter eggs from the first book, which was also very good, but you don't have to have read it to be able to enjoy this one.

This is a review of the audiobook version. The book itself started slow for me. I didn’t get hooked by the tale itself until mid book. But then I was really into it. There were so many roads and alleys of information and leads, it was a fascinating read/listen.
Overall actor Vikras Adam did a wonderful job embodying the voices, and emotions of the main characters. With one exception: anyone with an accent. He just didn’t get accents right on any of the secondary characters. And one of my main disappointments was that, though Sami came from Jersey, he had no trace of a Jersey accent.
But Adam becomes the voice of all the cast and is able to make each a distinct person. His portrayals make him disappear into the story and each character emerge. I greatly enjoyed this audiobook version.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Another brilliant read from Harlan Coben - this book has so many twist and turns, that you start second guessing yourself! Harlan Coben has always been the master of thrillers and this book is no different. It follows Sami Kierce who, after nearly 25 years sees the woman he thought was murdered in Spain try and follow the clues of what could have happened to her. Definitely a worthwhile read for anyone who loves a good mystery that will keep you on the end of your seat. Thank you Hachette Audio and Netgalley for a chance to listen to this book - all opinions are my own.

Nobody's Fool is a fast paced thriller that I couldn't put down. It was clever and super entertaining. I have been a fan for a long time and his books just keep getting better and better.
Many thanks for my gifted copy.

This was a little slower than the pace I am looking for. I thought the story was well laid out but references to prior books in the series made me think I wasn’t the target audience.

I absolutely loved the first book (& the Netflix series), so I was thrilled to receive an ARC of this & WOW, it did not disappoint! I was hooked from start to finish & never saw that twist coming.
Another brilliant read from Harlan Coben!

I am a huge Harlan Coben fan. I read everything he writes! That being said this one is not my favorite.
At first I thought this was a standalone novel but it’s really a sequel of sorts to Fool Me Once featuring detective Sami Kierce. While I do like this character this was hard for me to get through. The first half just drug along for me and there were just so many plot lines happening.

It took me a little bit to get into this book but it was great once I got into it. Loved the characters. I was shocked at the ending. I really enjoyed the narrators and thought it was an excellent audiobook.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio/Grand Central Publishing for the ARC. Another twisty novel by Harlan Coben. He doesn’t disappoint. Second book with the same main character of Sami Kierce. The audio was great. I finished this in one day!!!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for my opinion.
This book had me from the get go. It was so good and really pulled me in. The characters were well developed and the story line was riveting. Another great one from Harlan Coben!
The narration was great as well!!

Thank you to NetGalley, Hachette Audio and Grand Central Publishing for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review. Harlan Coben is one of my favorite authors, but this book did not make my top 5. The books POV comes from an ex cop who meet a girl 25 years ago in Spain, but assumes that she is dead. The girl turns up into his life 25 years later and the book takes us on an investigation as to what happened. This book wraps up very quickly in the end, and the twists and turns just didn’t grab my attention like some of Coben’s other books.

It’s one of those books where you read the first page and just know that this story already owns you and you are must finish it incredibly fast!
It’s written in a mature, seasoned, clever writing voice.
The voice surprisingly not devoid of emotion and humanity.
I can’t help but love a good classy detective! And this one was great!
The writing, the language, the nuances, the way the author so artfully, so subtly leads you very gently in the direction of his plot twist. Without TELLING you, without making suggestions…. Just slowly nudging your subconscious in the right direction.
His writing voice is just such a pleasure. I always seek a humorous writing voice, one full of heart and meaningful soul. One that doesn’t take himself too seriously.
I want a writer who conquers you with the story, who wins the round of the guessing game every time. It’s a pretty difficult task. And Harlan Coben knows how to develop a tight perfect-puzzle double plot.
And to do it with grace, with talent of storytelling, genuine unexpected humanity… it was a breath of fresh air!
It was wonderful to read such a vibrant detective story that brings back all the greats - the Sherlock Holmes being the KING of the Detective Genre.

The unpredictability and depth of the characters made it all the more captivating, especially with how diverse and well-developed they were. The fact that the plot felt so grounded in reality added a layer of intensity that made it even more compelling. It's rare to find an author who can deliver such a gripping, immersive experience, and it’s clear you’ve found one whose work you’ll follow for years to come. Honestly, I could see this becoming a long-running series, and I'd gladly keep reading along with you.
